I've been living here for just over 11 years, April 2015 to now, July 2026 and it's the best living situation I've ever had. We now have card operated laundry and all new machines. Repairs are done immediately. Management is friendly and more than competent. Nothing is just left to just slide. We have always had excellent maintantence people. The landscaping is gorgeous. It's like living in a garden and park. I wasn't crazy about the new owners cutting down several trees, but I understood that it was a serious issue with the foundation and water system. I have lots of good neighbours, feel very safe, and made some friends here. Since the new owners took over there have been several updates (including allowing small dogs in addition to cats). I wasn't crazy about the colour scheme (grey and white) in the common areas, but it's always clean, well maintained and I get to have as much colour in my space as I want. I hope to be able to spend the rest of my life here. I feel very fortunate to have found this place. Any problems (garbage thrown around, furniture discarded, a few thefts) I have seen are from hopefully a small number of tenants who sadly don't seem to appreciate when they have a good thing. read more

since the previous sold the building in late 2012 things have gotten better they have removed the two property managers that are mentioned in the below reviews nick and sandra no longer work here, the old maintenance guy lives here still but has decided to do his own thing after years of getting denied the tools and part to fix anything now onto how its been since the new managers took over broken or partially working appliances have been replaced when requested landscaping being done on a regular basis management and staff are far friendly and there is a online system for request which have roughly a two week turn around unless its an emergency in which case it's literally instant rents are what they are but they are not trying to push out long term tenants like the previous owners, they understand empty apartments means empty coffers and to clarify i have been in my current apartment in a building for 10+ years read more

Been here for a month, thus far we have received four individual notices from management: -Car insurance expired so it will be towed notice (Insurance isnt expired there just outdated sticker, the notice was given immediatly after the sticker was out of date and before 6:00am in the morning, as if someone can get a new sticker from insurance at 5 am...) -A notice of rental inspection exactly on the one month move in mark. (Not sure what they think I'm doing other than living). -On our first day living here we had both our moving vehicles given written warnings for illegally parking (We were moving in and out of a moving truck, we parked at the location told to us by our landlord) Within our first month of living here we have also had the grounds keeper cut trees and bushes directly overtop of our vehicles and let the branches cover the vehicle, they then, swept it off with a broom hours later leaving scratches on my car. TWICE. Since living here we have also been informed our laundry room has a FIRE hazard so we can leave our laundry in it. . . We've inquired twice without any thing happening For any one checking this place out, the management here is UNBELIEVABLY SUPER UPTIGHT. read more

I've been a resident of Building B for approximately 1.5 years. I'm moving out because of the Resident Managers. They are slow to repair things, rude to tenants, leave nasty notes on vehicles for not parking the way they want them to, threaten and harrass people who dare to ask them to fix things (the toilet or shower in the apartment above mine leaks and drips water THROUGH MY ELECTRICAL EXHAUST FAN into my bathroom). We've asked them a half dozen times to address and they do nothing. Complaints go unanswered because they stop with the Managers who are the cause of the problem. Nick is the Manager's husband and is incredibly rude; I have a washer full of clothes air drying in my room because he/they cannot be bothered to maintain the laundry machines despite SEVERAL complaints from tenants. On 3 previous occasions the washing machines failed to work at all after eating my money. Because I work all week, I generally do laundry on the weekend. They will not answer the door or phone over the weekend, so if you run into a problem outside of Mon to Fri, you're out of luck. Tonight I put two loads in the wash at 7 pm. The laundry room closes at 9 pm. Washers take 35 minutes, dryers around 45, so plenty of time to do my laundry before the laundry room closes. I go down at 7:40 to swap the wet clothes into the dryer and find that one of the washers did not work; my clothes are still dry except for a few small spots of water and the liquid detergent I put in. I had to pay another $3 to put them into the ONLY washing machine in the building that works (there are 3 washers in the laundry room; 1 has an Out of Service sign on it, the other is the one that took my money but didn't wash my clothes). I had to wait for another 35 minutes for the wash to finish and had transferred them to the dryer when Nick comes and tells me "The laundry room gets locked and alarmed at 9pm." I told him the reason I was still there was because the washing machine did not work. His response? "I don't care. The door will be locked and alarmed at 9pm" I said my clothes were still drying and it would be another 20 minutes or so. He said "I don't care. If you don't leave you'll deal with the police and the alarm company. Get the fuck out." So I'm air drying my clothes while I google the owners of the building and get the word out to as many people as I can find that until Pine Ridge Apartments deals with the current management (disciplines or ideally replaces), this place would best to avoid. There are still plenty of other places to rent in Nanaimo. Nobody should feel like they have to be mistreated by a person whose job it is to ensure that their needs as tenants are being met.
