It rain the night before and course was very saturated. Cart path only so there technology was useless trying to get accurate distance reading on the course tracker. Golf cart stopped several times while on the cart path for no apparent reason, had to reverse to get it to unlock. Very annoying having to prepay for a group, the not allowing the individual golfers to pay at time of check in, customer service friendly work around well they can pay you. I don't think the person checking people in didn't know what he was doing. Big plans for the property, not sure they have the personal to pull it off. read more

This course should not be open to play. And to ask $108 for a round of golf here in the condition it's in is an absolute joke. if the owners wanted to force an early opening due to finances then they should have been asking asking $60-$65 as a discounted rate due to the unfinished nature and the fact that they have no practice facilities to offer. The quality of everything but the greens has gone downhill at Pine Trace: 1) Cart path are brutal and will knock your fillings out 2) Fairways are in rough shape. It's been like that at least a couple of years. 3) They water the hell out of it, which doesn't help anything. Standing water in some places, and it hasn't rained but a bit in the last couple of weeks 4) The carts are garbage. Every single one of them squeals when taking off because the clutches are all worn out (They are gas carts). But you know what, I can overlook much of this if for a pleasant golf experience. Today was not that day. Today was the last straw at Pine Trace and the related Cherry Creek unless I'm coming out here for 9 in the off season with my wife. FIVE HOURS AND THIRTY FIVE MINUTES. Yes, 5:35. That was the time to play 18 holes. Front 9 was 2:55. Back was 2:40, and that would have been 10 minutes longer if the group in front didn't quit after 17. I knew it wasn't going to be good when they didn't have carts ready when we got there. I arrived at 11:40 for a 12:30 tee time. Some might think this is early, but we like to hit some balls, chip, and roll some putts. It's not like we were there 2 hours early. So teeing off at 12:30, got done at 6:05. Waiting EVERY SINGLE SHOT. Multiple times we got to the next tee in plenty of time to watch the group in front of us WAITING. Attached here are pictures from the SECOND HOLE. There's a group on the green, and two groups waiting in front of us. In about 5 minutes after this picture was taken, another group rolled up behind us. So we had FIVE GROUPS on one hole. I called the clubhouse. I mean, something is wrong...right? The guy says "I only see 6 carts on #2". They have some sort of tracking system. Why? I have no idea, because they sure as hell don't do anything with it. I said, "no, there are 8 carts out here". "Ok, I'll send someone out". Didn't see a ranger til 10, which we will get to shortly. I hung up and thought "Ok, if you see 6 carts on #2, does THAT make it OK?? In what world is 6 carts (3 foursomes) OK on a par 3 which is the second hole of the day? So we make the turn. Ranger lady is sitting on the 10th tee just writing down times. Why, what's the point? I said "took 3 hours to play the front, and there's one of your problems there", pointing to the group on the 12th tee. How did I know that? Because as we were coming off the tee on 9, the 12th hole was completely wide open. I know that because the two run parallel to each other. Whether 13 was occupied or not, I don't know, but even if it was, that's at least 1 hole wide open. But it was more than that. We play 9 (slowly, as we are waiting of course for the group in front of us), still no group on 12. When we were on the 9th green, we saw the problem group. Took them forever to approach #11, It was so long that we finished the 9th hole, ran inside at the turn for a pee break, got to the 10th tee, and this group which was on the 11th green finally got to the 12th tee box. Guaranteed they were at LEAST 2 holes behind. Ranger lady HAD to have seen all of this, it's right in front of her! Ranger went to the 12th tee, not sure if she said anything or just observed, and she came back and said they were waiting. I said "Were they waiting for the *group in front of them*?" No way they were, not-a-chance in hell. She doesn't know what she's talking about. So this comes to management: Mike, if you're reading this, take note. I LOVE the layout at Cherry and Pine Trace. But either stacking tee times and/or not enforcing any kind of pace of play will kill your business. You might think that you don't want to piss off that one slow group, but I'm going to tell you, it pissed off at LEAST 3 groups, us and the two who kept rolling up on our tee as we all waited together. I don't know, maybe you're ready to get out and sell out to Pulte, but this just may be the last 18 holes I play at one of your courses. See y'all tomorrow at Katke for a 4 hour round. read more

Would leave zero stars if possible. Staff is extremely rude. Ranger forces groups together and enforces riders to pay the full golf price just to ride. Ranger also makes golfers skip holes if they fall behind pace of play. Not to mention they do not have enough carts for golfers. Do this course a favor and take your business elsewhere. read more

The greens are HORRIBLE! Very thin and seem to still be suffering from some sort of disease. Cart paths are ridiculous. The place seems as if ownership has made the decision to spend no money on upkeep and maintenance. This used to be a great place to play but I do not see myself returning. This place is so over priced, more expensive than cherry creek and nowhere near as nice. Pace of play here is always a joke and the rangers just do nothing about it. If you are going to pay 80 to play here I would make the additional 20 minute drive somewhere else. read more

Wow. I should be at a loss for words. I tried calling to book a t time. Man on phone says I need to use the app. Ok. I use the app it says I have to buy 2 up front in advance. I call back. They tell me I have to buy 2 t times and I can't do it on the phone. It's just me? I have been playing this course for 30 years out of convenience. Worst ownership in the history of small businesses. The course costs $90 a round and is in Horrible shape. Cart paths are littered with pot holes, down trees on the edges of just about every fairway. Mike! You have always been a jerk ever since I was a kid. Take a little pride in your business and respect the customers you still have. The course is in excellent condition but the employees are pricks. Golf guards ride around complaining if slow play and push you through the round. I won't ever come back here to play. Top dollar to play and get harassed not cool guys, don't jamb up the reservations let people enjoy the game. with the number of courses around many better. read more

Had a very bad experience at Pine Trace. For a very high price of $90 the course was not in good shape. Greens were in even worse shape and for an early 7:30am tee time it should not take 5 hours to finish a round. Pace of place was terrible with no help from any rangers. read more

Rarely leave reviews but Pine Trace is a top notch golf course and deserved a review that reflected that. Staff was incredibly helpful and friendly and went out of their way to help me out as it was my first time playing this course. The course was challenging but also fair which means it was a good time for a intermediate golfer like myself. The fairways were lush and well- maintained. how far this course has fallen- used to be the one of the best in Metor Detroit. This course was dried out with no grass in fairways and around the greens- I don't expect to be hitting off dirt all over on this course, but I guess management has changed- I even complained to management and the maintenance manager agreed the conditions were terrible but had several excuses- no offer to play again or refund my green fees- just excuses- I will not be back. and will not visit their other courses either read more

Played this course about 10 years ago and I remember it being very nice. Played here today and I can tell you I will NEVER GO BACK. Course was absolutely terrible. Website said they were having issues with tee boxes but don't let them fool you. Tee boxes are completely destroyed, fairways are diseased and and many are dirt. Sand traps have no sand. Cups haven't been changed on a regular basis. I wouldn't care if they were charging a reasonable rate but they are charging $75/ round. Played all over this year and no other course is in this bad of shape so blaming the weather by course is unacceptable. I want my money back. read more

I once said never again to this course and as you can see from my previous review I really started to like this course after pace of play improved, however, I again say never again and this time I'm stickin' to it!! This year has been tough due to the Covid debacle, but turning the sprinklers on during prime playing hours is inexcusable!! This has happened the last 2 times I played here really upsetting all members of our group. I can understand if it's a Monday afternoon, but a Saturday at 10 am?!?! After torrential downpours earlier this week?!?! Ugh!!! And once again the pace of play was terrible, 5 and a half hours. Waiting on every shot. I couldn't wait to get the hell off this course!! This game is supposed to be fun, but having to wait for 5-10 minutes on every tee is anything but. As we were waiting on the first tee the ranger told us they've increased the gap between groups due to the Covid situation; makes me wonder how much slower it will be when they send 'em off at shorter intervals. This was the worst golf experience I've ever had! Tee times are too close together, the course is cut really tight so there are many holes where someone could get hit with people teeing off or approaching the green! Rangers are useless. The ranger was literally watching something on his iPad instead of managing pace of play on the course. A group of young guys hit into us, the ranger spoke to them, one guy started yelling at the ranger, spit at him, and the ranger didn't throw them off the course. No one in the pro shop really cared. For $72 a round??? Spend your time and money somewhere, anywhere else!! Poorly managed course. I can't even say the course was in great shape. I will never play this course again!! read more

Don't come here! Golfer be Ware!!! Not only is the course in rough shape but the lady's in front are rude and incompetent. We booked a tee time within an hour( no wonder no one wants to golf here) for 3 golfers and the 3rd golfer couldn't make it, they still charged us for 3 and could not right a rain check for the 3rd golfer per the manger Coleen Mobus. From the reviews I've read it seems that last winter may have been a little rough on the course but it looks fantastic now. It's definitely a challenging course if you're a novice player. There's a lot of hills and changing elevation as well as some tricky swampland to navigate. 18 holes runs you $40 with a cart and it can get backed up on nice days. The natives get a little restless too, so be cognizant of your time on the fairways and greens otherwise you'll get some snark. The clubhouse bar was pretty decently stocked and the bar staff was friendly. read more

I called for a tee time on a Tuesday morning, asking for something "around noon..." the pro shop gave us a 12:10pm slot and I arrived at 11:55. When I asked about senior rates, I was told that the discount ended at noon. He would not honor the discount even though I was so close to the time AND they gave us a full price tee time when I called. Rules are rules, but really? I am confident in saying that most courses I play would be decent enough to give us a break- in the interest of keeping a customer happy. Unfortunately, they don't realize that even a little customer appreciation goes a long way for repeat business. read more

From the moment we arrived we were rushed to the tee box only to wait for the group in front of us who had 6 people. The course was super tight in the sense that the tee boxes were super close to the greens on most holes which made you pay attention the the group behind you so you didn't get hit while you were waiting. The condition of the course itself was nice, but I don't think it was worth $58. I'm glad I was able to play this course once, but I'll never play it again. read more

Excellent public golf course, with an outdoor driving range and a practice putting area. The 19 hole course is well groomed, not too crowded and affordable. The clubhouse offers clubs and gear for rent or to purchase. You can get a bucket of balls for the driving range for $3. The clubhouse also offers a full bar and snack foods. read more

This is an amazing little gem of a course. We only played the front nine. It was challenging But not over-the-top. The greens were perfect. They were quick but they held your shot. The staff was very nice and helpful. They have a great little clubhouse/grill. We would highly recommend this course. read more

I started taking golf lessons here and have so many positive things to say! The driving range is maintained very well compared to other places I've been. The staff always greeted me with smiles and was very helpful every time I walked in. When I was out on the course the greens were in tip-top condition. I saw some reviews complaining about the greens and I didn't notice any problems. Even their practice green was in really good condition with a variety of hills and opportunities to practice chipping. They also have special yellow markings on the fairway for new golfers, like me, who aren't quite ready to tee off from 350 yards. It's so nice that such an awesome course is so welcoming and encouraging to individuals new at the sport! I went to their fairway runner's series last year which was a really cool 5k where you can run on this scenic course. I recommend that of you're into running, too. Afterwards they had a reception for volunteers and runners. Oh my gosh the food was so good! A good variety of salads, sliders, and sweet potato fries! Everything is clean and kept well inside the clubhouse with good items for sale in the pro shop for fair prices. Also they're home to Special Olympics golfing! How cool! I will be coming back and highly recommend taking lessons there if you're interested in that! read more

The staff was extremely helpful, had great ideas, was very organized, and also polite. The food was great, the course was in good shape, and the outdoor patio/tent was beautiful. Their events coordinator, Kristy, was especially helpful. Everything was top notch, I would strongly recommend looking into what they have to offer for your future event. read more

I'm not one to write Yelp reviews, but I recently attended a wedding as an out of town guest at Pine Trace Golf Club and I cannot say enough great things about my experience here! The staff was super friendly and the wedding venue was phenomenal. Despite the negative reviews about the conditions of the greens, they must have completely transformed as my husband and I had a completely different perception of the course- it was in excellent condition! Understanding the harsh weather conditions, I am actually surprised the course was able to recover as well as it did. The setting and landscape was beautiful, and I really felt taken care of throughout my stay. I would definitely recommend looking into Pine Trace as an option for your events or weddings, and at the very least a round of golf! I know we're already looking into another weekend trip to stay and play. read more

When I was in town visiting I got to play Pine Trace twice and thoroughly enjoyed both rounds. The course was challenging, but without gimmicks or unnecessary blind shots. The fairways, teeboxes, and greens were in great shape, and the clubhouse was quite nice and served delicious food. Being from DC I am accustomed to some bad public courses, so coming to Pine Trace was a very nice change of pace and I'd gladly pay their green fees for the value it offers. There was a time when I Played this course 3 times a week and there tee times were always on time and they paid very close attention to play time I remember the rangers use to come to me and ask me to speed up well that was my early years of golf now I am a on pace player and hate playing here because of the bad course management but I love this course it's fun not too challenging staff is friendly and the location is great read more

Do not play here for full price. Understand that this was a harsh winter and many greens were damaged, but this course seemed to get hit the worse. At least you would think they would give you a reduced rate due to the conditions... Nope! They even had the nerve to tell me that the greens were in great shape before getting a tee time.
