The Pine Tree supper club is bar none my favorite place to eat in Tomahawk. They have the best fish fry, the best bacon cheeseburger and the best steaks! If you have never ordered a sandwich from the Pine Tree you are definitely missing out. The prices are fair for what you get. I have never been able to finish one of the burgers. I always have lunch the next day. The french fries are always perfect and you can even order steak fries; another personal favorite of mine. Curt and Bill have a great thing going there. We visited this supper club this last Friday night for a large family get together. We were gathering for a death in the family and they were extremely accommodating to our large group. Our table had a variety of meals. Burgers, Fish Fry, Baked Cod and everyone seemed to really enjoy their meal. The portion was quite large which was also great. The salad bar is a little retro and unsanitary feeling, but it's a Wisconsin tradition I suppose. The atmosphere is quaint and particularly vintage feeling. I was a fan. Lastly - if you're up for a real treat, you must try their hot buttered rum..it was fantastic! read more

Pine Tree Supper Club was recommended to us for Friday fish fry. It was great! Nice fresh warm dinner rolls to begin with. Had salad at the salad bar and old fashioned cucumber salad and bean salad! The menu is fairly standard - other than the addition of pizza - and the food is pretty good including a good sized salad bar. I'm not a huge fan of the salad bar and its many items that sit there for hours but at Pine Tree it seems decent. The pizza was homemade and pretty good, kind of in between thin and thick crust, solid pizza but nothing really outstanding to my palate other than maybe the addition of parmesan cheese on the crust. We may be back at some point, but I prefer the pizza at Twin Bay Resort and the Supper Club experience & food at Bootlegger's and The Silver Birch. Pine Tree Supper Club is an A-OK restaurant though and worth a visit if you're in downtown Tomahawk. read more

I ate there for dinner. This is the 1st steak dinner I have had in eons. I ordered an 8 oz. Ribeye, which I believe was about $15. A potato and dinner roll were included. It was done perfectly, was well marbled with very little extra fat, and tasted great. I was amazed at how big the steak was! I'll bet it was at least 12 oz. Fantastic meal! Absolutely Outstanding!! We were traveling for a hockey game and wanted a good meal not just fast food. I turned to yelp and found this gem. The atmosphere was great and the food was even better. The salad bar had many options from salad with all the toppings to meatballs which were amazing! The rib-eyes we ordered were we least 4oz larger than the menu described and were seasoned and cooked to perfection and melted in your mouth. The garlic parmesan mash potatoes were amazing. We were in, out and off to the game in an hour. The service was prompt, accommodating and very friendly. If you are in Tomahawk call and make a reservation or you could be missing the best meal you'll have. read more

This is a very nice supper club. I have eaten here several times. The food is fine and their claim to fame is their steaks...which are fine but not premier. The Friday night fish fry is good but more expensive than other places in town and quite frankly, no better. Billy Bob's and Nokomis Pub serve just as good, if not better fish fry for a little less money. Pine Tree offers a salad bar but it is not exceptional...just institutional, like you would get at Golden Corral. I wouldn't avoid Pine Tree but if I was looking for the best steak or dinner I might look elsewhere. read more

My wife and I have been to Pine Tree a few times over the past several months and have never been disappointed. The first couple of times my wife and I had steaks and salad bar. The steaks were done to our request, and they were tender and flavorful. The salad bar is simply and all of the veggies were fresh. On our most recent visit we specifically went for burgers which are huge. My wife had a cheese burger and I had a mushroom swiss. Both burgers were prepared consistent with our request and are served on a Kaiser bun. The burgers come with your choice of fries, crinkle cut or steak fries. My wife ordered the crinkle cut which were very crisp and I had the steak fries. I actually preferred the crinkle cut. Onion rings are available by request. I have to say this was the best burger I've had in the Tomahawk area. In reading other reviews there are several comments about Pine Tree being a little pricey and the service being slow. I do not think the price is out of line with the quantity and quality of the food we've had at Pine Tree. Our service has always been good; however, we have never been there on a Friday Fish Fry night or when there was any kind of wait to be seated. read more

Worst experience my husband and I have ever had at any restaurant. We've been there a few times and each time I think well the food is ok, but the wait is awful and the customer service is ok. This time though just topped it! Waited an hour and a half for food. We were just about to walk out when we saw it was our food and I said let's give it a chance to see if it's hot. My potato was hot. Cut a piece off my steak and it's barely warm and dried out a bit. Then I stick my finger right in the lobster and it's cold. I get up to get a manager and tell her I'm frustrated about this entire experience. She tells me she can heat up my lobster. I politely tell her I don't want a heated up lobster I'm paying $35 for this meal I expect a hot meal. I would take a new lobster. She tells me that I would have to wait my turn and it would take 30 min. I said I just waited an hour and a half and you can't put my food ahead of another when you guys have screwed this up so badly? She starts getting nasty with me and tells me can't I see its busy tonight. I said ok well then i guess i will be leaving. That should help. She is now getting loud with me. So i got firm back in front of the customers now by our table. I again said I'm not being treated this way and said I was leaving. We offered to pay for our drinks and the salad bar we ate from. They said no they would call the cops. So I said sure go ahead I will wait patiently. Oh actually during this the cook also yelled at me and said I did not wait an hour and a half. My husband did not like that. He says not only is your hostess rude but now the cook is calling my wife a liar. You guys definitely have the customer service down pat! Obvious sarcasm. While I'm starting to wait the cook dr idea he is going to come out and start taking my picture. I said I didn't give you permission to take my picture do I need to call the cops on you for that? Obviously he walked away. Cops get there. Guess what the manager starts yelling at me right in front of the cop. Yep got to see it for himself. He walks us outside and we let him know we offered many ways to try and remedy the issue. Somewhere in between all that we did offer things. In the end we told the cop look we will make this easy for you and pay the bill. We will take our food and just let the world know what an awful place it is and how they treat you if they make a mistake. Not only did we pay our bill because we are good people we also made sure to tip the waitress because it wasnt her fault she had such horrible coworkers. If your ever in Tomahawk take your business to Bootleggers for a nice meal! read more

Unfortunately don't have a ton of great things to say. I got a chicken sandwich that came with fries. Over half of the plate was fries. So, this is a great choice if you are a major fry lover. I, however, am not wild about them. Well, not the kind they serve here anyways. They remind me exactly of the Oreida ones you buy in the freezer section at the grocery store. The sandwich was also predominantly bread and lacked much flavor. I asked for a mojito to drink and was told "no mojitos." I assume this is because they don't have mint but no explanation was given. The people I was with ordered a steak and fish and neither were particularly impressed, either. I will say this - the food is not bad! It's just that it's not that good. The main reason for my 2 star review (really I would give it 2.5 stars if I could) is that I do not think you can justify the prices. Yes, the portions are very generous but I would rather have a smaller portion of great, delicious food than a huge portion of very mediocre food. Definitely a great place to go if you are very hungry, though as you do get a lot of food. Not sure that I would go back and definitely would not go out of my way to do so. read more

My buddy and I were up snowmobiling for the weekend and I asked a gal at the gas station where I could get a great steak. She recommended the Pine Tree Supper Club and man, she was dead on. My compadre had the Saturday night special Prime Rib and I had the bacon wrapped filet with 3 stuffed shrimp and it was amazing. Nice supper club in Tomahawk. I have eaten here a few times and always had a good meal. Dinner comes with salad bar (basics with some coleslaw / pasta salad options) and either a potato or veggie. We come here on almost every trip to our vacation place. Have NEVER been disappointed by the food quality. It is recommended on a regular basis to anyone we know who will be in the area. The atmosphere is relaxing and welcoming, the facility very clean. The menu has a large selection; I would probably not order pizza here. We came here on recommendation from the hotel where we were staying. This bar/restaurant is located in the old downtown section of town. We had driven through downtown (about two blocks long) on previous trips and had not been impressed with anything we saw there. So, we came here with low expectations. The outside looks like any other old town bar. We had come for an early dinner. When we walked inside we were in the bar. it looked better than we had expected. We were led the adjoining dining room and were amazed! It was a very clean, and tastefully decorated dining room like you would expect to find in a nice restaurant. The room reflected the local heritage of the former lumber industry that this town was originally based on. On light wood planked walls hung professional framed old photos of various aspects of the local lumber industry. On the walls and from the ceiling hung lumbering implements. From the ceiling also hung high-tech, modern, curved brushed nickel metal strip track lighting on which various small halogen accent light fixtures were attached. The carpet was a dark green, that could have been chosen to go with the forest theme. Along the walls were new, modern light-colored wooden booths, with padded backs and privacy screens separating each booth. In the center of the room was a large rolling salad bar stocking with the usual sorts of salad veggies. (Unfortunately, the only lettuce available was chopped iceberg lettuce...No spinach or mixed greens.) The menu was presented nicely printed on high-quality paper and in a professional leatherette menu folder. The menu selection was large, which included, seafood (both fried and broiled), steaks, chicken, burgers, sandwiches, salads, and, surprisingly, pizza! We noticed that the pizza ("Penguin Pizza"...Nickname of the cook who made it.) was made with dough, sauce and sausage that is all made from scratch, in-house. We hd to try it! The menu said the pizza took 45 minutes to make, but we had nothing else going on, so we went for it.! The waitress brought out the pizza a full 45 minutes later...I looked great...and smelled great, too! It was a not quite a deep dish pizza...More of a medium dish pizza. We had order the pizza with their special sausage, fresh mushrooms, fresh tomato, and onions. It was delicious! The pizza was thickly covered with both mozzarella and cheddar cheeses. (Even though "extra cheese" was available as an extra topping, i don't know why anyone would need it!) The crust was very crisp, even in the center! (Unlike the soft centers found in many of the cheap chain pizzas.) The crust also had parmesan cheese baked into it, too! WOW! On our next visit to Tomahawk, this is definitely a restaurant we will visit again! The service was friendly, the atmosphere was nice and the pizza was fantastic! read more

Wait staff is not very friendly and always seem rushed. You are treated differently if you are a 'regular' customer. You can feel it when you walk into the place. They realize you are from out of town and you get mediocre service/food. If you are a regular, they treat you great, you get HOT food, maybe even bigger portions? Hmm. Usually good food though. Can be pretty inconsistent though. Some nights it's great, and other times I leave thinking... 'Ok let's not eat here for a while' because I'm so disappointed. So it's hit or miss. Hopefully IF you choose to eat here, it's a HIT when you go! Because when it's a good night for them, it's great food, but when they are a little busy, it's a cluster. I'm not sure if it's the unprofessional waitresses/hostess, or if it's the layout, or the small kitchen that is the main problem. Maybe it's a combination of everything? My suggestion to the owners. REMODEL, RE-TRAIN your staff. Go to Outboards and take some notes. That place is a well oiled machine and it's still fairly new. read more

Went there for the first time in years. Everything ordered was excellent and the portions were amazing. We took home almost half! My husband had steak and stuffed shrimp - the stuffed shrimp were good but the steak was excellent. Both of my daughters had shrimp. They were nice and big and very tasty. Both of them left with more than half taken to go. The cheese nugget appetizer was huge and pretty good. More than half of that also came home in a box. Finally, I just had salad bar. That had a nice variety and was very, very fresh. Their homemade dressing was excellent as well. Our waitress was efficient and friendly enough. The only negative we saw was the other waitress who was rather gruff and rude to a larger table nearby. Other than that, despite it being extremely busy, thanks flowed very nicely. Our meal came in a reasonable amount of timeand we were checked on often to be sure we had everything we needed. It was not a cheap meal but certainly not outrageously priced.
