There are table and chairs for sitting in the middle of the outdoor mall. We have noticed a lot of stores are empty. I am assuming business isn't great. I went into one of the store and hot sauce caught my eye but the price of a tiny bottle of less than 200 ml hot sauce was close to $20 and it didn't seem like anything special. I am not sure if the stuff here are priced higher than normal at this mall. I am not talking about one things, it was many things. The mall itself doesn't seem to attract a lot of foot traffic.

The Kona Coast Shopping Center has a diverse variety of shops - from a locally owned supermarket (KTA Super Stores), to many eateries, gas station, automotive parts store, as well as a financial institution where you can do your banking. I mainly come here to pick up grub if I'm working in the area, as I love the pizza joint (Kona Crust Pizza), as well as buying local kine grindz from KTA. Parking here is pretty easy, as there is lot of free parking at this strip mall. We also chatted with a previous SFX designer in one of the coffee bean shops. There are some cute souvenir shops as well. There was also an ATM that I ended up using. I would say the place needs upkeeping and proper shade. There is a courtyard section with some tables but with the hot sun beating down on us, it was not comfortable. The tables were also very dirty and the chairs are rusted and old. There is also an obnoxious amount of horseflies. We ended up eating in our car.

You have a lovely view of the Kailua Bay. We got some souvenirs and popsicles to enjoy. Parking can be a hassle since there's also a popular farmer's market close by. There's several public lots you can use. If you're lucky you may find free parking at one of the lots or the street. Otherwise it's $7.05 per hour in a paid parking lot.

Do all of these "till your heart's content. Came here almost every night when we stayed in Kona. At morning people are walking through aisle to aisle peeping on each shops. At noon to evening locals play volleyball. After sunset people pause for a while and gather at the seawall to witness the wonderful dramatic horizon as the sun slowly hiding down. It is a pretty busy marketplace and can be congested most of the time. Parking is a pain in the butt as it was challenging! Downside too is that a lot of homeless people within the area and some of them are real scary while searing on their cigarettes staring at you from head to toe. Overall plenty of shops you can check here and restaurants everywhere. But personally I cant spend my whole day here straight. Too much fun yet too much stress as well. Some of the eateries include Bangkok House Thai Restaurant, Ocean Seafood Chinese Restaurant and a Karaoke bar. Nothing much to do in here except dining and window shopping on two or three other shops in here. Also parking lots in here are limited. Nothing much to say about this so-called mall. Parking is a plenty and dispersed well across the center. There's also small businesses in the little booths/kiosks at the center of the shopping center. The Kona trolley does not stop here, but does stop at the Kona Coast Shopping Center right across the street. Overall, a fairly average shopping center that seems to be more frequented by locals than tourists.

There's a KTA Supermarket (local Big Island chain), a Longs Drugs (CVS), and a variety of restaurants to suit anyone's taste, a movie theater, and a bunch of small businesses featuring plenty of local items to pick up as souvenirs. It's easy to find because it's on a corner and we visited it several times over a four day period. Definitely recommend checking it out if you are visiting and staying in the area.

High quality local items - pricey but worth it if you want to treat yourself or a loved one…read more We had stopped by a couple of times on this trip as our hotel was nearby, and on our final day, decided to swing by to purchase something as this store was unlike any other we'd experienced on our strolls up and down various shopping areas in Hilo and Kona. Our teen, who is into candles right now, had her heart set on a plumeria scented candle with an "interesting" wick. She got sticker shock when she went to buy it (it was almost $30) but her mother convinced her that it was okay to occasionally indulge oneself. She's very happy with the purchase, and we are heading back home with a special piece of Hawai'i with us. Mahalo, Tasty Kona.
