We received such a warm welcome from Terri & Carl that we immediately felt like we knew what the Aloha Spirit was about! It was a great way to start our vacation. You truly have so many choices of where to shop when you come to the Big Island but after walking into Sunset Traders you won't need or want to shop anywhere else! They helped us find everything we needed without ever making us feel pressured to shop. They gave us our space but were close enough when we had questions. This store has everything! I wish I had taken more photos but I was just so excited bc who wants to waste time shopping at a bunch of different stores on vacation when they can find it all in one place? The variety ranged from the cute Christmas ornaments with Santa & turtles all the way to handmade, beautiful one of a kind jewelry. Sunset Traders has items for every budget too! Stop in & grab a few postcards or buy a quality shirt that won't fall apart after a few washes. I also think it's a great idea to support local small business owners! Chain stores are great but will you find unique, one of a kind jewelry? Nope! We left with exactly what we needed, smiles on our faces & great advice on local beaches / restaurants that we should try out from Terri & Carl! The artistry of these clay flowers is like nothing we've ever seen anywhere else. They look so real! From orchids to plumeria, hibiscus to bird of paradise (and more), you'll do a double take when you realize these flowers are in fact sculpted from clay! My husband and I walked in last Nov and met Tara who was in the process of preparing the clay to sculpt a new flower. We paused to watch and she kindly told us about her process and even gave me a small hibiscus she literally made in under 5 minutes! Mahalo again, Tara! I keep that perfect little mini flower on display at home along with a couple of other flowers we bought that day, and they always makes me smile :) Friends & fam who we gifted flowers to also loved theirs! They have a wide selection of yarn that is unavailable on Oahu. They even carry locally made yarn which was beautiful. They have lots of beautiful quilts hanging on the walls as well as crochet and knitted items as well. They even have binders of free patterns that you can take home with you. I was blown away! The store is beautiful to be in, so neat, organized and colorful. I wish I was into quilting so I could buy some of their colorful fabric! There is an ample parking lot so parking shouldn't be a problem. There is an iPad in the store where you need to punch in your license plate for 90 minutes of free parking. The yarns were reasonably priced. I ended up buying 2 skeins to crochet some butterflies. Highly recommend this store for your quilt, crochet or knitting needs.
