Hayley was incredibly communicative throughout the planning process, and she set up AND took down all of our decor.

Speaking of the course, it is always in pristine condition. The design is definitely challenging, but not so hard that you want to sell your clubs when you finish a round. Overall this is a great spot and well worth a drive out to Marengo!

Blackstone is by far one of my favorite golf courses in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. I've been…read moreplaying here for the past 8 years. It is a super peaceful course with a lot of fun and challenge to it. Reading some of these bad reviews about pace of play are funny to me as most people who complain play on a weekend (busiest day) mid day (busiest time) and expect it to be sub 4hr round. When realistically it's going to be a 4 1/2 - 5 1/2hr round. You can always ask the pro shop before making your tee time if they have outings planned that day, if they punched the greens recently, etc. Typically any day of the week after 9am is going to be a longer round. Golf has grown so a ton of people have found out about this once hidden gem just like every other great course and now it is usually always slammed. Which is good for the course, you need business to stay open. Blackstone is also not a straight forward layout. It has difficult holes where you actually need to think out your shots. From some holes being links style with bunkers and water to some holes being in a narrow tree line with OB and water Blackstone is not a walk in the park. It's a players course with a lot of challenge to it. Especially if the winds are above 10-15mph. Turns par 5s to par 6s. Not every golfer is a 10 handicap or better that puts every shot in position for their game. When you get a group of players together above a 14 handicap (average for men) on a players course not a park district course it's going to be long play time. Not only that if it's their first time on the course they going to be hitting shots in places they shouldn't be hitting. At the end of the day if you want to play a quicker round play before 9am.

I play this course at least 10 times a year - a real mixed bag....here's the details:…read more Course Layout: 2 Stars - weird set up (If you're a guy who can regularly shoot under 100...play the tips) start with a 220yd par 4...an average golfer can drive the green with a 3 wood...3 short par 5's all under 500 from the tips, easily reachable in 2 - another 260yd par4, and a 95 yard par 3....par 37, 2800 yards.....your 18 hole score should be 5-10 strokes lower here than on a regular par 72 course. Course Condition: 2 Star - the place is a cow pasture, fairways like playing on your lawn, gnats later in the year follow you around...hole 6 ALWAYS a swamp, plug your ball IN THE FAIRWAY almost any time of year. Greens the highlight - slow, but in good shape. Ease/Pace of play: 4 stars - I walk weekend mornings and am usually off in 3 hours...not usually too crowded - there've been days when I've played in afternoons and hackers in jorts and t-shirts will spray one into your fairway, but almost always an under 4 hour round. VERY easy course to walk...really don't need a cart. Cost: 3 stars - when I walk on a Sat morning, costs me $22 bucks - a cheap price to swing a club for a few hours - BUT brought the wife one afternoon for a relaxing day of sun and whacking the ball around - was @$80 for 2 riding...for a couple bucks more could have played Pinecrest or Crystal Woods....real courses - OR could have played Craig Woods for less, and that's in MUCH better shape. I would never pay for a cart here. Atmosphere: 5 stars - nice people....the guy who usually lets me in early in the morning always friendly....If you get there too early - have a sign that says "Golf Now, Pay Later" and you pay after your 1st 9...it is the definition of no frills, (no bar/food), "Clubhouse" is a tin giant shed, but would be a perfect place to start a beginning golfer off. For me, waking up at the crack of dawn on a weekend, my round here ALWAYS relaxes me and lets me forget about the past week...and gets me home in time to enjoy the rest of my day.

Highly unprofessional as we had just paid not even 5 minutes prior to his tantrum. Theres much better ways to approach people who paid good money to have a good day of golf. Thanks for ruining our game.
