A factory approach run like a retail business with little and ineffective Dr. to patient engagement

I have never put much trust in Chiropractic medicine. It wasn't my thing. I did however think the acupuncture stuff was top notch. That was my usual "first line" until I met Dr. Weinstein. Now, my complete trust is in his ability to diagnose and treat nearly any problem I have. I always feel better after an adjustment. He uses what's called applied kinesiology. He can find problems and fix them simply by testing the weaknesses in the body's musculo-skeletal system. It works on the theory that everything is interconnected. It's absolutely amazing how it works. However, having a good method and knowing how to use it well are very different things. Being a high performance driving instructor, I can probably take someone's car out to the race track and get better performance out of it than they can. Dr. Weinstein is to A.K. as I am to driving. Actually, he's better. I still have a skepticism about a lot of the chiropractors out there, but Dr. Weinstein is someone I'm eager to recommend to anyone. read more

I owe a lot to Dr. Ron and Pinecrest Wellness Center. Years ago I had a pinched nerve that was giving me a lot of pain due to mild scoliosis. I had a consultation to determine my issues, and a recovery plan was created for me: I had to go 3 times a week for a period of time, then there is the rehabilitation phase where I did strength training on their machines after my adjustments, then I went once a week, and now I'm in the wellness phase and I go once every other week. It has been about 6 years now, and I am completely pain-free. (Also, the positive change in my golf game has been a great side benefit, I can swing much more freely now.) They taught me exercises that I continue to do in order to keep my back strong. There are at-home exercises and gym versions as well. Pinecrest got me back on track, and they really are all about "wellness". They have nutrition counseling and acupuncture and massage therapy. Dr. Ron's chiropractic methodology is called "applied kinesiology", it's amazing. I was a little worried at first that chiropractic adjustments would be painful, but his adjustments are very "low impact". He is very skilled, and he goes to chiropractic conferences a few times a year. He is also an extremely nice and caring person, he really gets to know his patients and he really wants to help with all-around wellness, not just chiropractic care. When I temporarily moved to Atlanta, Dr. Ron helped me find a chiropractor there that would be able to continue my care. Recently I have been unable to get to Annandale for adjustments, so he talked to a chiropractor closer to me and filled him in on my chiropractic history and wellness plan. (For the last 4 years I have been driving 45-60 min each way every other Saturday for adjustments, that is how much I love Pinecrest Wellness Center.) The "family" atmosphere they have created is amazing, and the office staff is top-notch too. Everyone is amazingly nice and caring. I would give them 10 stars if I could. read more

Who the heck are these idiots posting bad reviews when they have yet to come into the office. I don't care what kind of pain you're in, you deserve it for being a jerk. People who take the time to read the bad reviews/rants by these morons can clearly see that they need mental help, not a chiropractor. If there's a place that's open from 9 AM to 5 PM and I want an appointment for 11 PM, I simply find another place that can accommodate my schedule. What i don't do is post a horrible one star Yelp review...ya jackass. I have been going to this place for years. They are professional and great people in general. You can listen to me or you can listen to these 1 star whiners or you can listen to someone who has actually step foot in the door and has been treated...instead of someone who's going to complain about BS. read more

This place is awesome! Dr Ron practices applied kinesiology. I was incredibly skeptical about chiropractic work until I met Dr. Ron. He shared with me that no one should touch your back without taking xrays. He also works with people around their diet, exercise and life situation. Bill Reddy is the accupuncturist and is a gem! He is brilliant (was a rocket scientist for NASA before leaving to become a brain surgeon when he found his love of Chinese medicine!) I highly recommend this place! read more

I'm a longtime client of Dr. Sims....as a family we followed him from his last practice and love his care. And now....its covered by insurance! I was googling the address for yet another referral to a friend and saw the negative reviews here...and i just HAD to come on and add my positive 2cents. I see Dr. Sims for general health and wellness and to help me proceed with my holistic care and management for my adrenal and thyroid issues. My husband goes for more acute issues due to his intense physical training...and our kids all come for general health and wellness as well as for those incidents kids tend to wind up with. I've always been a fan of chiropractic care but never more so than after my daughters traumatic fall down a flight of concrete stairs. Her recovery was remarkable. Oh and we drive from centreville...he's that good! read more

I have been wIth Dr Bergs office about 18 months and I have lost almost 40 pounds and I have gone from size 16 to size 10. Dr Berg actually teaches patients how food impacts your overall well being. My health and weight have improved more than I can describe AND most of all I have been able to be consistent. read more

I have been a fan of kinesiology since the practice helped me come out of much pain some 10 years ago. I have since had 5 kinesiology doctors; all wonderful people. Dr. Sims is hands down the best that I've worked with. His active listening ability and his knowledge of nutrition and all the different muscle relations is pretty wild. I've learned a ton about the interactions between foods and my body, as well as certain injuries and how they're affecting other parts of my body. I'll admit there have been some injuries Dr. Sims has not been able to fix. Kinesiology doesn't work miracles, but it does enable your body to heal and maintain itself as it's supposed to. If you're thinking about seeing a chiropractor or just a general wellness doctor, Dr. Sims is awesome, and just a genuinely happy and pleasant guy. read more

I didn't even get in to this place yet. I have been looking for someone who provides applied kinesiology, and found this one to be close and had an excellent review. Unfortunately, they will only take appointments from 9-4:10 and are out for 1.5 hours for lunch. Plus the receptionist was rude about this. Guess I won't be going. read more

I have been seeing Bill Reddy for acupuncture now for five months. I have had awful migraines that have plagued me since 7th grade. He has worked very diligently on them. I have to say I am happier than ever. He also has worked wonders on the off chance I have not been sleeping well, additional stress for whatever reason, and even my sprained ankle... And that is recovering nicely! It is hard to imagine a one-stop-shop when it comes to your health, but he has a wealth of knowledge on the human body and is able to work on so many different factors! He has been a joy in helping with my migraines. read more

I've got a lot of experience with chiropractic care as I've been receiving care for the last 15 years. Three different states and about 6 different practices.I couldn't get away from Dr. Weinstein fast enough! From the moment I walked in I felt like I was in a car dealership. They were trying to sell me all kinds of herbal supplements, vitamins, creams, etc.... of course all of the items recommended for purchase were hand picked by Dr. Weinstien. When I let the front desk lady know that I wasn't really interested in purchasing the items, I was basically told that it was my decision on whether or not I truly wanted to make a firm commitment to my health. What the heck?! I was then led into an office and told to wait in a chair across from a large desk (think car dealership!). Another office staff person took a seat behind the desk and opened up a file. She began telling me that Dr. Weinstein had put together a comprehensive wellness package designed especially for me. In order to give me the best care, he would need to see me in his office for adjustments three times per week for for three months and then we could drop down to 2x per week. In addition to chiropractic care, I would also need to sign up and pay for an exercise plan using the gym he has installed in the front of his practice. I would need to come in and do the exercises three times per week for 6 months and then we would reassess and perhaps be able to drop down to twice per week. I had a hard time remaining straight faced as I almost felt sorry for this poor girl whose primary job was to answer the phone at the front desk and check clients in and out of appointments and now she's having to "sell" wellness packages on behalf of Dr. Weinstein. I immediately told her that my insurance coverage gives me 12 visits per year, so the wellness package was not going to work. I'd be paying out of pocket a few hundred dollars per month if I agreed to this "plan" and this was not something I was interested in doing. She held firm (like a true car salesman) informing me that a price tag couldn't really be put on my health and that maintaining good health was an investment as each of us only has one body - so when it goes, it goes. At this point I had to get firm, looking her squarely in the eye saying: "Okay, enough of your sales pitch. Is Dr. Weinstien willing to work withing the confines of my insurance coverage or not?" I do not have any severe back or neck problems. Most of my issues are the result of working at a desk job, lots of computer time, and hunched over crunching numbers as I am an Accountant. I don't have any degenerative disks, curvature of the spine, headaches, etc..... I just want the kinks worked out and put back into alignment. She finally gave up and left the room, only to return a few minutes later to point out that Dr. Weinstein felt very strongly about the package he designed for me. I once again declined the gym fees, 3x per week adjustments, and list of herbal supplements and vitamins. I shouldn't have even scheduled an appointment, but I did. I showed up the following week to actually get my first adjustment and I was not pleased. Dr. Weinstein spent a total of two minutes doing the adjustment using only a "clicker" and I was sent out the door. When scheduling my next appointment I was reminded that I should come 3x per week. I quickly reminded the check out girl that I only had 12 visits for the year so they would need to be spread out and that I would come a week or two later for my next adjustment. In all my years of chiropractic care I've never felt like I was buying a used car, or pressured into joining a gym and purchasing vitamins and supplements that the practice was selling. I've also never been in and out in under two minutes having had an adjustment with only a "clicker" machine. Yes, I am familiar with the "clicker" but it has always been used in combination with some manual adjustments. The doctors all put in some of their own physical sweat and actually did some work! Needless to say, after a few visits I left the practice and found Dr. Chang (located in the same office park as Dr. Weinstein). I love Dr. Chang! I use the roller and the stem machine every visit and he spends at least 20-25 minutes working out all my kinks using a variety of adjustment methods. He truly cares, practices with heart, and isn't looking to sell any products. His patients are not seen as a way to generate more income. Dr. Chang is so honest, that he doesn't even collect my co-payment stating that Blue Cross Blue Shield (my insurance) was so quick at reimbursement and paid the highest return out of all insurances, so all my co-payments are waived. Wow!!! This is what a true chiropractor is all about - the people. I'm not pressured in any way and my commitment to my own health is never questioned. I would bet that Weinstein prescribes his gym and supplements to everyone who walks in the door. read more

It's so funny that this doctor takes the time to answer my review but couldn't be bothered to fit me in his schedule when I was in serious pain and returning for my second appointment to his office and had paid in full for the first but arrived late due to beltway traffic totally beyond my control (it's under construction if you haven't noticed) and then could also not get me in for another appointment for a very long time and did not give me a referral for anyone else while I waited and then that appointment was cancelled by his staff without my knowledge and he could have cared less. I was suffering and begged for anytime to be seen - no dice - and I was treated very rudely by his staff who had cancelled my third appointment at a complete surprise to me and then when I complained and insisted to keep that appointment he "fired" me as his patient for complaining as though I'm some kind of difficult psycho! Judge for yourself - perhaps this only happens once in awhile - outrageous as it was - I wouldn't want a doctor that treats others that way would you? And that he claims he referred me to his colleague is a big fat lie. I found her myself and was also told about her by my doctor - I went to and recommend with my full support Maimonides clinic where you will be treated with genuine care and respect. My urgent care doctor referred me to her and told me this is someone who will really care, is smart, won't sign you up for unnecessary treatments and will take good care of you. I should have gone to her first and never had this horrible experience with Pinecrest! And I had a very bad experience with Pinecrest. If it's not the usual I'm glad to hear it, but don't you find it funny that he couldn't bother to fit me in his schedule when I had trouble in beltway traffic, couldn't keep the appointment he had scheduled for me days later, wasn't in the last bit concerned that I was in deep pain when he told me to fend for myself, treated me like some kind of psycho for complaining about this treatment and was perfectly comfortable to abandon me in deep pain and now suddenly has time to answer this review? And yes he did return my co-pay for my insurance but I was under the impression that he did bill my insurance - perhaps not - but this is the only concession I got - no genuine apology, no treatment while suffering badly in pain. And the usual male doctor view of a woman who complains - must be psycho get rid of her. NIce no? So if that's how you want to risk being treated go to Pinecrest. But if you want genuine care follow my footsteps to Maimonides - you won't be disappointed. Not how I'd treat a dog in pain, much less a human being. And yes I am always polite and I asked politely to be seen, waited at least a week to be rescheduled etc. complained in a professionally polite manner etc. The only thing that I've done that got his attention and perhaps was not nice but sorry it's the truth was to write this review and I hope it saves others from the same crappy treatment... read more
