There are also tennis courts and a baseball diamond. It's buddy around with teams practicing and playing. There is a clubhouse that you can rent but good luck trying to find the right person to book an event. I once booked and was bumped out by an HOA that said they cleats have the tool on the same night every month. That was not correct.

Most of the large single family homes and townhouses were built in 2000. The neighborhood is prized for its safety and proximity to a plethora of shopping and restaurant options. The Towngate Park has a large number of amenities which include an indoor fitness center, a recreation center for classes and a hall for rent, 4 lighted tennis courts, 1 lighted football/soccer field which requires a permit, 1 lighted baseball/softball field, 2 lighted basketball courts, a gazebo, exercise path, a kiddie pool, and a swimming pool. Unfortunately the playground is closed. A number of classes, camps, and events are held in the park including the MTTC Tennis Academy. A lot of people were enjoying the park during my visit. It was so nice to see so many people enjoying outdoor recreation. Whether you are coming for recreation, education, or play, Towngate Park has something for everyone.

A village sprung up around it and it is now one of Miami Beach's most affluent neighborhoods with a farmers market, bike trails, and beautiful parks like this one. Veterans Wayside Park is named in honor of the service of the men and women of the Armed Forces of the United States. In 2007, 79th Avenue which runs adjacent to the park was co-designated as Veteran's Parkway by the Pinecrest Village Council. At that time a plaque with inscription marking this a Veterans Park was added. As far as Veterans Memorials go it is pretty small and easily overlooked. This passive passive park is 4.5 acres in size and has a freshwater lake, picnic tables, and open recreation area. The water attracts a lot of birds so it is actually a great place to bird watch or have a picnic. Although it may not have all the amenities of the larger parks. Veterans Wayside Park is still a respite of nature in the middle of a neighborhood.

There are many like it along the length of US1 and it is nice that they made these quarries into green spaces, if nothing else. This one has a fountain in the center of the pond, but it is little more than a green space and has very limited parking. But every park doesn't need to have a playground. Or be a dog park. Or have extensive walking trails. This park is a breath of fresh air in the midst of a concrete jungle and I much prefer it be a green space then another store front. And for that I am grateful.
