No pets are permitted on nature center grounds - assume since wildlife may devour a small dog, not sure. Other signs advise pets permitted by park permit only, but does not indicate on the posts about service dogs - kind of confusing. They provide guided nature walks through the park which seems like a fun tranquil activity for people with good knees and a decent pair of binoculars. The far west side of the park provides beautiful views of the New River and small critters like crabs along the waters edge.

They did have an overwhelming response to them coming here so it was packed and parking was a bit hectic. After finding a spot, I walked in and immediately felt at peace. Although they didn't have a lot of land to work with they maximized what they had. The garden has an outdoor amphitheater that seats 40 people. There is also a gazebo, a tot lot playground, and an observation deck. Throughout the park there a walking trail, botanical gardens, and public art. The city of Lauderhill uses the park to stage events like the Jazz Picnic in the Park. This park provides a welcome green space in the middle of the city where the community can exercise, play, and gather together for events.

It's nestled within the heart of Davie which I knew would mean authentic South Florida vibes. It definitely did not disappoint! When I arrived I drove through the property to park and then was greeted by a bunch of friendly groundskeepers there. I was amazed at how many different species of plants they had there. Mike was super friendly, and even gave me a tour around the property on a golf cart. He described a bunch of the interesting species, how tall they got, and even the countries they originated from. I couldn't believe that there was literally dozens of rows to make up hundreds, even thousands of different plant species on the property. They even have a garden section around natural bodies of water with so many lovely plants there. It's difficult to decide what you even want to buy! I ended up with a plant that caught my eye and was shocked at how affordable it is! A nursery like this is something I highly recommend to visit and support as it's so upsetting to see the nearby properties being bulldozed and turned into new houses. I really hope Jesse Durkos Nursery thrives for years to come because it really is a gem within Davie.

Nature Center is great. Perfect trails for all ages. Restrooms and refreshments available. I did the Half mile boardwalk loop trail which is very shaded, so it wasn't feeling too hot. Very tropical. Felt like it was actually misting but no rain. Lots of water under the walkway. It's a Lush forest. Then I did the 1 mile loop prairie trail plus an extra 300 yard loop trail off the prairie trail. Overall a nice forest. Check it out if you haven't been. It's free and plenty of parking was available on a Saturday. They Even had a cleaning station with a water hose and foot scrubber to clean your shoes on the way out.
