Ilene Lieberman Botanical Garden was named for Lauderhill community leader Ilene Lieberman. She…read moreserved as a council women in 1984, mayor in 1988, and as a Broward County Commissioner in 1996. The garden is a small sized at only two acres. Although they didn't have a lot of land to work with they maximized what they had. The garden has an outdoor amphitheater that seats 40 people. There is also a gazebo, a tot lot playground, and an observation deck. Throughout the park there a walking trail, botanical gardens, and public art. The city of Lauderhill uses the park to stage events like the Jazz Picnic in the Park. This park provides a welcome green space in the middle of the city where the community can exercise, play, and gather together for events.

I was able to take my time, relax, and actually enjoy being out in nature without feeling rushed. I explored the lakeside, mud flats, and part of the South Trail, and the views from the tower were excellent. I also saw a few different bird species and some butterflies along the way. There's also an exhibit showing a model for a new aquarium that's supposed to open in 2028, which was interesting to see. As a longtime Hollywood resident, I can't believe this was my first visit but it definitely won't be my last.

I followed the signs once inside the Park and if you head to your first right at the very end of the parking lot to the east end is the Garden Club. Since coming back home today I explored their website WWW.FLGC.ORG and it gives a little more insight as well as calendar of events that are now held on Zoom due to Covid. As I took the paths in the gardens I got to see some familiar plants and trees and some new ones too. I especially am fond of the bromeliads and they had a couple varieties that I have not seen nor do I have in my gardens. The colors were brilliant and really added to an enjoyable walk. I also saw a Jamaican Croton that I have not seen in years. I had one many years ago at my last home and gardens but find they are not readily available to buy. Loved taking photos that I shared on this page for future reference and inspiration for my own gardens. Definitely will return for one of their Events after Covid has ended. In the meantime I will definitely check out their website for their next events.

I've been here many times to walk my dogs. I'm not sure if I intended to write a review or it…read moredisappeared. Either way, this is a small park with a few pavilions. Some evenings they have AA meetings and the parking lot gets full. I try to go here in the morning. Often I see goats along B the fence line from the neighboring property. The best is when there are horses in the park and I can tell that my dogs are thinking, what is that? It's a simple park but a nice place to walk and it's quiet. There are restrooms but not much other amenities.

A bridge and waterfall are integrated into the property to make this place as whimsy and as tropical as a fantasy island. The lorikeets have their own house, where you can feed them honey nectar and they will land on you. Really cool experience! There is a cafe for lunch, plants for sale, and a lovely hallmark-type giftshop that has any and everything related to butterflies.

A friend of ours had tickets to see The Odyssey but couldn't make it so we bought his tickets. We…read morehad heard that the movie was specifically made for IMAX viewing and were excited to see it. We only had General Admission tickets which required us to be here at least 90 minutes before showtime. Priority Seating allows you to arrive 45 minutes before showing and gets you in before the general ticket holders. They only sell 100 of the Priority Seating tickets per show and the theater seats 243 people. We had gotten there about 2 hours before showtime and there were already people in line. The best seats to see this are up high and in the center. We didn't get those seats since they were all taken. I've never been here for a movie and thought the screen would extend out to the sides. The movies are projected floor to ceiling so that you see more of the picture. There were some part of the movie where my husband said that he felt a little dizzy. I wish that they had assigned seating so that you didn't have to get there so early to get the best seats. I would suggest that if you're seeing a movie here, that you pay a little extra and get Priority Seating tickets.

The exhibit is whole was really interesting. We spent a lot of time there. One aspect I didn't like was that you have to scan your finger print with your name to make an "avatar" to activate some of the activities. I don't like giving my finger prints or my sons when we don't know what will be done with that information after the exhibit ends so some of the activities we couldn't do. And for the ones we could do some of them were broken. Still had a lot of fun in this exhibit. Highly interactive. Ends September 7 2026 A lot of the permanent exhibits were the same at 2020 which was cool to see my son interact and compare it to how he was as a babe. Again some of the exhibits were under maintenance but it didn't stop us from having a good time. My son loved observing the baby gators and learning more about them and some of the other Florida wildlife. The outdoor exhibit was interesting but some of the instruments/activities were metal and were HOT from the sun. Still nice to get a little sun and lots of shade. There was a good crowd but not too crowded Only critique is that there were two lines for tickets but nothing that designated what line was for what so a lot of people were in the member services line when we just wanted general admission. Other than that it was a great experience. There's parking right across the street in the garage and there's a bunch of restaurants to walk to nearby including a really cute restaurant next door called Emily's garden to get lunch and gelato. Highly suggest bringing refillable water bottles. You'll be in there for about 2-3 hrs if you take your time in each exhibit. We opted out of the holographic theater and the center kids play area but those would be fun to try when we go back

For some reason it was mid week, therefore it was not busy at all. Had it been a weekend event I am sure it would have been a real hit. They come from a small band of around 200 people led by Sam Jones who helped them to hide out in the Everglades to avoid capture by the US government in the early 1800's to a Hard Rock empire with more than 500 million dollars a year in gambling profits from their casinos today. Located in Hollywood near the Hard Rock Hotel on the Seminole Reservation is the Seminole Okalee Indian Village Museum. Created in 1960, it was where the Seminole used to have a village where they would have education, alligator wrestling and animal displays. Today the main museum, Ah-Tah-Thi-Ki is located in Big Cypress Preserve in Clewiston. The Seminole Okalee Indian Village and Museum reopened in 2005 and serves as a branch of the Ah-Tah-Thi-Ki to preserve the culture and heritage of the Seminole people. The small museum has displays containing clothing, tools, and animals. They also have chickee huts, festival grounds, and a small event stadium. In honor of November Native Heritage Month the museum was hosting a Pow Wow and marketplace. To quote the Seminoles "Thank you to the creator for making such a beautiful day for all of us to share in the Seminole people's heritage."

I was not thrilled that they moved it from Fort Lauderdale however I will say there was plenty of free parking, which is nice. It was a great show as usual. The juried orchid exhibits were magnificent. A few other attendees pointed out to my mom and I that the orchids were fragrant which was not something I've experienced a lot. There were some new vendors this year selling plants that were not orchids. My mom bought a plant that was growing from a round ball covered in moss. Very cool!
