Twin Brooks Park is a very beautiful and well maintained park. It has a nice paved walking/bike…read morepath with flowers and trees that bloom in spring and summer. There are a total of 5 ponds/lakes, two of which people sometimes fish at. There are swings (in very good condition) and a playground that is suitable for kids around age 4-13. In the winter Twin Brooks has easily the best sledding hill in a 10 mile radius. It's such a good sledding hill that it can actually be dangerous due to the sheer distance. With most sleds you don't have to worry but with high quality inner tubes you can generate a lot of speed. Sledding not your thing? No problem! There is also an extensive network of mountain biking/hiking trails in the woods to the north of the park. In fact you can mountain bike or hike from Beach Memorial Park all the way to Twin Brooks! Twin Brooks is beautiful in all 4 seasons, just don't forget your Trumbull parking pass. If you don't have one there is street parking on Franklin Street.

The prominent Osborne family owned numerous metal working and fabric product factories in the area. At the young age of 31, Frances Osborne, later Mrs. Waldo Kellogg, took over the family business when her father died in 1907. Miss Osborne decided to take over the family business instead of selling it. Additionally, it was contrary to the advice of the executers of her father's estate, and a brave undertaking for a woman in the early part of the century. Despite the prejudices against woman in business at that time, Mrs. Frances Osborne Kellogg was very successful in her many businesses and investments. By adhering to the belief that one should always buy land but never sell it. The fencing in areas needs to be replaced and the ground cover also gets muddy after a good rain. Upgrade fencing , bring in a dedicated dog drinking fountain and this is a 3 star dog run. Voluntary Labor only gets things so far and as this is a city park even an average lawyer could prove the city liable for things..... Fix the gates! UPDATE: Apparently you enlightened liberal dog owners have very little knowledge of Kennel Cough and other diseases when your happy that others leave toys and bowls in the park. Many praise it and as one who pays attention will ask those happy with this if they are enlightened enough to believe everyone is vaccinating and caring for their pet as much as you do? I SERIOUSLY DOUBT IT. If your dog gets aggressive... Leash Up and/or Leave! If your dog bites another dog.. exchange info and call the Police so a report is made. I have witnessed TWO events where the aggressive dog owner leaves and says NOTHING as the injured dog owner is attending to their pet. Hey, but I must be the one with the problem here! At least the park people got off their dead behinds and removed the wire below the first gate and mowed. I guess installing new lights to illuminate the park is to much to ask for and expect! Sad that the taxes paid do not cover BASIC maintenance issues to the over paid and under worked park staff.... keep sitting in your vehicles on your phones and we can start documenting your "strenuous" work day for you.... I will gladly show up and pitch in to help and I do believe it's time to demand the Park Board, Mayor and City Council start getting outside with us and take care of what the taxpayers have purchased BEFORE another item is purchased or leased.....

The signage is not great, especially if you are looking for the waterfall. But once found, it was a…read moregreat hike. There are 3 different trails, from 0.5m to 1m each way. You can go to the summit and get to see the beautiful river or head down to the waterfall. Unfortunately we went after a dry summer, and the waterfall was a very small trickle which was anticlimactic. But the hike was still fun. Warning: some paths are very narrow and can only take one person at a time. If going with kids, be warned. If your kids are prone to not listening and wandering, this is not the right hike. The paths are not paved and the risk of getting hurt if varying off-course are great. Since I mentioned about the signage...here are some tips. If you go to the general parking area, that is for the beach. It is very pretty to walk along and take photos or launch kayaks...but this is not the parking lot for the waterfall. Instead, go to the small parking lot on the other side of the road (do not pass the train tracks). If you go right, there is good signage that explains the 3 trails and markers. If you go left, it's the shortest 0.5m path directly to the waterfall (it's the red/blue path). Enjoy!
