This cenote is maintained by locals and not many tourists know about it. When we got here, we saw some 3-4 locals got into the water and cleared up the fallen leaves. It is much cheaper than any of the other cenotes we were considering. While some cost at least 50-100 USD, this cost about 3.5 USD. And that included life vests. They also had a rappelling line above the cenote. The water was a clear turquoise blue and had mangrove roots along the edges.

But, it is worth the effort. We had a wonderful guide who spoke great English and worked really hard to find spider and howler monkeys throughout the jungle for us. It was a private tour just for our family that included a jungle walk, a Mayan shaman ceremony, zip lining over a lagoon, canoeing across the lagoon, repelling down into a cenote and then swimming in the underground cenote with the bats before climbing the 30 ft ladder to get back above ground. This is not an adventure for the faint-hearted. My 11 and 14-year-old loved it and thought this was a well worth afternoon. We teamed it up with going to coba which was great as well. I highly recommend communicating via Facebook or Whatsapp ahead of time as there is no cell phone communication out there. However, my Facebook communication worked great and we got there and they had my name on a piece of paper ready for us. I felt like I was supporting the community and the community was very genuine and sincere. This felt like an honest experience and I really treasured the adventure.

We were greeted by a shaman who blessed and prayed over our entire group. We purchased a few souvenirs and then dined on some amazing food at the outdoor restaurant and enjoyed a little show while we ate. We then walked the grounds to explore and learn more about the Mayans. The Cenote was truly an astonishing sight. While I didn't get to take a dip in the water, just standing inside this amazing wonder was super breathtaking! I've seen pictures of cenotes, but never imagined in my wildest dreams that I would be standing inside of one. After visiting the cenote, we headed over to the tequila tasting! It's a lot of steps down the stairs I was able to swim here, there is a little waterfall (its water trickling down, but gorgeous), and you can see some fresh water fish. As an English speaker, I'm not sure that the guided tour was worth it as the Spanish portion and explanations were long and the English versions were condensed (my bf understood both and said we got shortened versions). Most of what we got we already knew from googling. However, the all inclusive tour included food - which might be more worth it finances wise. The tour guide will walk and talk and show you each cenote, swim together in cenote 5 (you can't have access here as a self guide) for exactly 25 minutes. Then once the tour is done you're free to explore in your own. That lasts about 1.5 hours. We then had lunch - choice of pork chun, fish fillet or fish tacos. On the menu it ranges from 130 to 200 pesos a dish already. But included in tour, we got chips and salsa, fruit water (pineapple this time), our meal, and ice cream! After, we went back to swim and check out the spots really quick. Truly, it was pretty quiet and for the most part we had it to ourselves. 3 hours is plenty of time
