Four stars for Pinkyotto! The only reason I'm giving it 4 is because the seam was messed up in my shirt -- but no fear, I can take it back and they will tailor it for me! I've gone to Pinkyotto 2 times in the last week for interview outfits, and the sales associate Annie has been immensely helpful. I had to come on and write a positive review about her; she's made my shopping experience fun and easy and given me good reason to be a returning customer. This store is cute, laid out nicely, and great for classy and fun staple items. I'm a fan! read more

Um. Gross. I ran by pinky otto with a friend visiting from out of town who was buying some samples for work. Pinky Otto is terrifying. Its a store with two bars full of stuff from san pedro in downtown LA....marked at 200. Which in NY isn't unheard of...but their buying sucks...and merchandising...well...don't get me started. I asked the girl working (wearing that new williamsburg staple--the feather headband) where they kept more sizes and she informed me that the designer cuts one general size and they stock very few pieces of each design. I died laughing inside. This poor shop girl---sad really. WITH ALL THE AMAZING STORES IN WILLIAMSBURG why does this shit get prime location. Skip it...it will be out of business soon. read more

Listen up boys, if you are looking to check out cute girls on the weekend many are shopping the sales here. A nice lunch on Bedford can easily turn into a shopping spree - (umm, I mean leisurely stroll). I agree with Ty. This shop is trying to be a boutique but fails. Clothes feel cheaply made and overpriced. If I'm paying over $100 for a dress it better not have strings hanging from the seams. Seems to be popular with European tourists for some reason. read more

The bad first: -mostly polyester blends/unknown fabrics, and sort of 'on-trend' replications of newer fashions -- offered at a way higher price point for what you get -- than most other generic/up to modern stores offering the exact same things. -It bothers me anytime a place makes 'one size' stuff, ESPECIALLY with elastic-back waistbands (the front is tailored; the back of the band, is not??); again, especially considering what they think is reasonable to charge! -definitely a tourist trap; if you have the cash and are willing, perfecto. The Good: -once in a while, if you're strolling on your way somewhere with time to kill, you may just find what you need in a pinch. If you have the cash. Haters, quit hating. Here's the deal. This store is expensive but worth it. The designer apparently only makes a few dresses in each style/fabric before creating something new. This means if you see it there today, it will probably be gone next week. It also means that you are essentially getting a dress that no one else owns (well, except for maybe three other people). I stopped in this store for the first time the other day and fell in love with it! I seriously wanted to try on everything. What's so interesting about this designer's dresses is that she really only makes one size but, magically, they fit all different body shapes! I tend to get extremely disgruntled while trying on clothes. I am very curvy and trendy clothes just don't sit right on me. I picked out a few dresses and took them back to the dressing room. The super sweet sales girl (Nicole, I think? I might be wrong on the name) brought over a few other silouhettes in the colors I had chosen for me to try on. I am so glad she did!! I would have never picked out the dresses she brought me by seeing them on the hanger. But, damn, I looked gooooood. I ended up buying two of them! AH! The way I see it, I love these dresses. And they fit me so well. Yes, they're expensive ($160ish a piece), but the quality is beautiful. You can tell someone handmade these garments. These are timeless pieces that will stick with me for years to come. And I have a hankering that every single time I put them on, I'm gonna feel like a million bucks! So, go ahead, wander on in here when you have an hour to kill. Just make sure it's on or around payday. read more

Slowly but surely Bedford is turning SoHo and Pinkyotto is just one of Manhattan's latest established stores to invade Williamsburg. I walked into Pinkyotto not for the clothes but for the fabulous necklaces on the mannequins in the window. A golden deer with movable legs and some other bear like creature with a crystalized head. Now that's cool! Inside I couldn't find the jewelry display as the store was smaller that the average sized small bedroom and was quite crowded. They only had two rows of clothing along the walls and one shelf in the back. A quick run through of the clothes was obvious- ultra girly and ultra hip. Perfect if you love bold colors, have a small chest, love to show leg, embrace your inner femininity and are ultra petite. Definitely beautiful stuff but not for me. I left as I lost interest but stopped again in front of the store window as I left. I love the jewelry! read more

Trendy, hip, well-made, unusual, pretty, feminine, groovy -- everything that makes you halt at the window and dash into the store. If you need something fun and interesting with a little flare - you must pop in. The items aren't cheap but are not assembly line run offs. So totally work it. I could have spent hours in there picking through each rack. The ladies that work there are smart, professional, helpful, creative and no BS. DO it. read more

I have a huge issue with this store. Clothes are cute and overpriced. You can get similar cheap asian imported fashions from other stores and 1/4 of the price. I bought a pair of boots a while back and the sales person told me they were leather. I brought them home and found out from my roommate they were a cheap vinyl. Obviously I was extremely upset and tried to return them the next day. They have a store credit only return policy which is common but the sales person misguided me so i think they could have helped me out a little and made an exception. I took the 200 dollar store credit and had to spend it on their low quality overpriced clothing. An expensive mistake made by trusting their incompetent sales staff. read more

I can't say I've bought clothing here, but I bought a belt and I love it. The sales girl was helpful but when she tried to push the other belt on me, I had to explain that I was broke, and she was like, "oh but $45 is such a good price for a belt." Clearly, the high prices in here have skewed her perception of what things should cost. The clothes look totally cute. The store needs way more space tho, for how much they cram in here. I stopped in while in town a few weeks ago and loved this place! Ended up picking up 2 fall dresses, a blazer, and a blouse. The pieces are all unique and were cut really great. The sales girl was very helpful and picked out a few things for me to try that I liked while i was trying on. I always like that in a place like this where space is a premium so you may not see everything, or maybe a piece that looks great on your body type that you may not have thought much of on the hanger. Love the style for being a little more fashionable but still wearable work clothes. Also some cute belts I noticed as I checked out. I'll def be back next time i'm in town! read more

I primarily shop at Pinky Otto now. Their stores always have the cutest clothes and the styles are always different than what other places in NYC are doing. They're s but expensive but it's worth it. The main flagship store in SoHo is the biggest but the other stores tend not to have as big of a collection. I recommend shopping at the flagship first. read more

Definitely not a place I would trust to shop online, but love to indulge in in-person from time to time. I agree that some stuff looks pretty low-quality for the price. However, they also have some pretty amazing/cute stuff that is a great deal. It's really hit or miss. With that said, I have a couple of things I've gotten there (including semi-matching bridesmaids dresses for a friend's wedding) that I love - and I literally get compliments every time I wear them. Worth it to stop in if you're on the fence. read more

The window displays in this shop are always beckoning, but I found the clothes poorly made (uneven hems, seams coming apart, amateur alterations to correct errors, and limited sizing - one-size items run large). I see cute stuff in the window all the time but then I don't bother to go in bc I know I'll have to listen to someone talking and pushing styling suggestions and clothes I don't want the entire time I'm in there. I've always thought this store was overpriced for the quality, but I was lured in yesterday by their huge sale (dresses in particular were about 50-75% off). I found a dress that I liked (at the sale price point--to be clear, I wouldn't pay full price for it, because the material wasn't worth it). I asked to try it on, and the saleswoman put it in the fitting room for me. It wasn't totally clear to me that they only had one large fitting area, so I went in and started stripping down, and then the saleswoman flung open the curtains and led someone else in. Which was OK, but maybe tell me it's communal first? What if I were self-conscious about being half-naked in front of strangers, as a lot of people are? Anyway, the saleswoman then proceeded to bring in multiple more dresses for me to try on--none of which I actually liked. I tried one on just to be polite, but then realized it was many sizes too large. I know some shoppers like this kind of attentiveness, but I generally know what I like, and I'm very particular. To me, it felt overly aggressive and a bit presumptuous. If you're going to get that involved in someone's shopping trip, ask if they want your help first (in my case, the answer would be no thank you). She started bringing in extra dresses for the other woman in the changing room, too, and when that person said she didn't really like one of the designs, the saleswoman seemed to think it was her job to push back and counter the customer's response. It just seemed oddly pushy! You're not going to talk someone into changing their taste. Also, my goal was to buy ONE dress at most, and I didn't have the time or desire to look for anything else. Though I did buy the one dress I liked, I oddly ended up wishing I hadn't reinforced the saleswoman's obnoxious behavior by making a purchase. I don't plan to return. read more

I've passed by this store countless times and have been intrigued by their hip displays and funky style. I decided to go in this weekend since it was on my way to yoga. The good: FIT: I'm a 2 and these clothes were flattering and fit well. COMFY: the clothes were wearable and comfortable. ORIGINAL: They have pieces that look original and I liked that many of the sweaters were a cotton blend and not wool or cashmere (I'm allergic). CUSTOMER SERVICE: The sales girl Sarah was very helpful and not at all pushy. The store was cute and they had plenty of extras since I didn't always like the way the neckline was stitched. The not-so-good: VERY EXPENSIVE. When I go into a local boutique and they have a promotion, it should be offered UP FRONT, especially if you're spending over $200. She gave me a 15% off coupon to use on my next purchase before October 20th. This doesn't help since I already spent a lot and probably won't be able to go back for a while. If they want repeat business they should inform you of the sale, allow you to buy one piece at full price, and use the coupon to buy other items. I would have saved over $30, been happier, and returned soon after. POOR QUALITY: While trying on my new sweaters and leggings at home the seams were literally coming apart and threads were popping out all over the shoulders and waist line. If I spend $88 on leggings I expect the quality to be impeccable, this was not even close. NO LABEL: I'm pretty sure this goes against some law but there's no way to tell what the clothes are made of so I can't always tell if there are materials that will irritate my skin and I have no idea how to wash these pricey items. They recommend dry cleaning so add that to price when you purchase. I'm a hand-wash Woolite girl and if I have to dry clean many items, it cuts into my clothing budget. NOT "HANDMADE": I was told that these pieces are handmade by the designer but on the only label that isn't the stores it clearly says: made in CHINA. Based on the poor quality of the stitching in vital areas, it's clear that these items are not "handmade" even if the label is sewn on by the designer. All said and done, I like what I bought but I doubt I will return to this store often since the prices didn't match the quality. I prefer Shi Shi on Broadway between 92nd and 93rd and their sister store on 2nd Ave. between 75th and 76th or Shatzi on 86th St. between 2nd and 3rd. read more

It's pricey but, the clothing in this sample sale are really unique. Everytime I go into this store, I think it will be different. Nope. The sales associate is always so aggressive to the point where I can't wait to leave the store. If I look at one piece of clothing, there's a comment. "Oh that dress looks really cute on" "Why didn't you want to try this dress on? I saw you looking at it." I actually put the dress back because I didn't want to spend over $200 on a cheaply made dress. I appreciate a helpful associate, but don't watch me like a hawk and push product on me. Cute styles and window displays draw you in but overpriced and poor quality items. Loose threads and unfinished edges that are not a statement are a common sight. I was quite desperate to complete a look a few weeks ago and bought a lightweight bomber jacket on sale for 75 dollars. After wearing it once the material was already pilling. After three wears a the sleeve is ripped at the seam. It's clear that the stitching job wasn't appropriate for the fabric type, an issue I might expect from a $12 forever 21 jacket but not from something at this price point. On top of that the stores own brand clothes are all "one size" ranging between about size 2-8 equivalent. It's one thing to make only small sizes if your say, selling one of a kind samples but as regular high street store a broader range of sizing is really a must. I always felt a bit morally funny about shopping at a store that excludes the majority of body types but after experiencing the poor quality of the clothes I can easily say it's unlikely that i'll be shopping here again. read more

i love love love this store, there's also one on spring but this one's cozier. it's starnge though, there are times when there's nothing i like, and then times when there's a million things and i can barely choose. I'm not sure who the last girl worked with, but Laura was there yesterday, and she's always super helpful and honest, and gets my style. she found pieces i would never have picked up but they totally worked. i got three dresses yesterday but it took alot of self control to stop at 3. it's not like shopping at h and m, but you get what you pay for, everything i've bought holds up great and i end up wearing a ton. read more

They have such adorable, unique pieces. Pinky Otto only manufactures a few of each item it sells, so every time you find something you feel like you've landed a really special piece. The look usually slants more vintage and bohemian, and the quality is top notch. I find the customer service a bit pushy -- each time I'm there they ask "are you looking for something?" then add a few extra items to my room without my asking. Either way, awesome place to check out. I love each piece I've bought here. read more

I came here when I was 7 months pregnant, looking for a nice loose fitting tunic top. I found a maroon one that was very pretty, comfortable and kind of fell off the shoulder on one side so it gave it an edgy look without being overly so. The sales associate was nothing to write home about, seemed robotic in a way, and the clothes are pricey but seeing as how I'm not in New York every day I happily bought it. Before I knew anything about the store, I was mesmerized by these big pink earmuffs by the cash register that were really adorable. The price tag said $50.00, which I knew was my cue to leave. While these were cuter and puffier than the average earmuffs, these were not that special price-wise. And neither is the rest of the store. Everything is marked up 200% and a lot of it is one size fits all, which is bad enough already. Don't be fooled by the boutique-y interior, it's cheap quality priced way too high. read more

Their return policy was never explained to me when I purchased the sweater and when I brought it back to return a week later (it was itchy and didn't fit right), they would not refund my credit card. What's up with all the "scam" reviews? I too have seen versions of these clothes at other, lesser-quality and lower-priced stores, but way AFTER I've seen them at Pinky Otto. Example - a few years ago I bought a super-cute off the shoulder dress in cream with a dark-blue birds print. The next year I saw an uglier, poorer-quality version of that dress made with a cream colored cheaper fabric with a simpler pattern of dark blue birds. Not even close to the beautiful dress I own. These guys definitely make gorgeous, well-made, original clothing - when I walk in there I know there will be something I like, so it's a go-to shop for me. That said, they don't have sizes (most are either one size fits all or S, M or L), so not really the place if you are plus or petite-sized, and the prices reflect the quality (but are still relatively inexpensive for designer clothes.) I was weirded out by their aggressive selling technique. Sure, the girl had a very nice demeanor, and there is something to be said for the method they use of picking stuff out for you to try on--I ended up trying on several things, and the one I liked best was something she brought me that I hadn't noticed while walking around in the store--but it never stopped bothering me that she was just AGGRESSIVELY SELLING. "I think you should get this one and this one." "That dress is soooo flattering!" (It wasn't.) And I might have actually bought something if she hadn't laid it on quite so thick. I felt like I was being taken for a ride. I did like the one blouse, but I hadn't planned on spending $140 on an impulse purchase, and if I had, I would've just felt like a tool for allowing her to sway me. I almost certainly would have experienced buyer's remorse. If someone puts pressure like that on me to do something, I'll refuse to do it for the sole reason that I resent being pressured. read more
