We used Dr. Larsen and Brenda as the navigator for a four year fertility journey. Both of them were amazing and highly recommended. Took my 1k deposit then stopped taking my calls. I paid 300$ for the initial consult to never meet the doctor in person but he managed to be pretty insensitive with his lack of knowledge of other cultures and their food and then proceeded to ask me about plans just to tell me how he disagrees. I'm not looking for advice on my plans, I'm looking for a clinic that operates like people are not cattle in line for the slaughter. Had a different nurse practitioner do my ultrasound for the 3 or 4 times I was there. They kept probing me about why I wasn't ready to begin the process. There is nothing consistent here. And everything is as immobile as an autistic engineer who has never been on the field. If you just need someone to tell you what to do and want to be treated like a cookie cutter human being this is the place. read more

If I could leave zero stars, I would do so. The care provided by most of the staff and navigator was a wonderful experience. Unfortunately, it went downhill the day of our first and only retrieval. 12 of 16 eggs retrieved were contaminated when the embryologist failed to use sterile tools during fertilization - these tools were used on a previous couple's eggs/sperm. Only four embryos survived to blastocyst stage, and all four were aneuploidy, which according to the lab director was a completely unexpected outcome. Each person we talked to after finding out about the error made told us we were lucky to have someone be so honest and report their mistake. They insist no harm done, and I can do another retrieval cycle even though they blame my age on the results. I was never scheduled for a follow up ultrasound to confirm my ovaries were back to safe measurements, or contacted by our physician - abandoned as a patient after their error during an emotionally traumatic time. Fair warning, the embryologist who made this error continues to work at the Tucson Advanced Fertility location. Not to worry though, they updated their training manuals in response to what has been a detrimental error and huge set back in our journey. read more

I don't know how to put into words how I credible this clinic and company area. The doctors are amazing - they listen, spend time with you, and explain everything. The advanced practitioners are as good as the doctors - patient, kind, incredibly knowledgeable. I never felt rushed. I always felt important. My opinions and needs were always prioritized. The staff at this specific location are so efficient. There is an on site lab location. The best part of all - everyone undergoing fertility treatment receives an assigned navigator to help with the process that you can text or call any time. They're are so helpful and make the process SO much easier. Compared to experiences I've heard from friends undergoing IVF at other clinics, this AFC is FAR SUPERIOR. Kim Sadler is in the billing department and is extremely rude, they charge over $300 for a virtual 30 min appointment. You are working with women who are looking to optimize their chances of being mothers the last thing I would expect is for them to prey on this and treat their potential patients as if we are ignorant for wanting to pay for their services! They charged my insurance without me authorizing it and when I wanted to pay out of pocket she spoke to me as if I was an ignorant person and tried to bully me into using my insurance. My deductible was a lot higher if I used my insurance and she continued to speak down on me after I paid the $300 out of pocket. read more

We did it! Today we graduated Advanced Fertility Care after doing our first round of treatment that resulted in success!! I started diagnosis testing in October. Unknown secondary infertility at 23 years old. Our first round of treatment in December and we got pregnant! Thank you thank you AFC! Dr.Z and Dr. Larsen have been amazing! Our FIRST round of treatment and it was a success! I'm so thankful for this experience. This wasn't what we expected to complete our family but we are so thankful for the opportunity. I understand fertility doctors want to make money and I understand that this process isn't cheap, but my experiences with Dr Larsen and his office have me so upset that I wanted to write a review in the hopes that this doesn't happen to anyone else. We selected him because of his involvement with the LGBT community as we are a lesbian couple trying to conceive via donor sperm and IVF. During our first appointment, Dr Larsen met with us and told us the very basic process and how he works. He didn't even ask what we wanted, just assumed insemination and went with that angle for awhile before we interrupted to say we wanted to IVF to be able to do genetic testing and sex selection. What concerned my wife was that he acted like it was unethical do gender selection during IVF. When we expressed that we really wanted a girl, he said he'd check with his partner to see if it was okay. Of course he called the next day to say it was alright. This left a bad taste in my wife's mouth, but I wanted to give him another chance because I was confident he could get us pregnant. She felt his arbitrary ethical line was crossed for the prospect of money. The next appointment was for follicle count ultrasound and blood tests. Like the first appointment, payment was due at time of service. They broke it down for us and we paid $510 cash for both. They suggested more tests to look at my uterus that were over $1000, so we decided to get a second opinion and have since decided to go with another doctor. He got us an MRI for $400, which is a much more thorough exam than the $1000+ saline exam dr Larsen wanted to do check to out my fibroids more closely. We have since received bills for $5400 from an external lab for the blood test taken that day. We were not informed of this and not expecting this. My insurance does not cover any of this, and they knew at that time. When I called the doctor's office, they claimed I agreed to it. I might have signed some paper authorizing it (you sign a ton of papers) but nothing about what we agreed to pay. I find their business practices very upsetting. I felt taken advantage of. You will probably get pregnant here, but you will have lots of expensive, surprise and unneccessary (they require a psych evaluation before starting IVF) tests performed in the process. read more

I cannot say enough good things about this place. Every single staff member, from the front office to the medical assistants to the embryologists to the doctors, is friendly, patient, and understanding. I called them so many times with various questions, and not once did they make me feel stupid for doing so (as other practices tend to do). With an issue as sensitive as fertility, such a welcoming and supportive environment goes a long way. Dr. Larsen was our "primary" doctor and I would highly recommend him to anyone. He is extremely knowledgeable and experienced, and delivers straightforward advice and results while also maintaining a high degree of professionalism, empathy, and excellent bedside manner. He also has a good sense of humor for those lighter moments. We are a same-sex couple and always felt very welcome. We did three rounds of IUI, which were unfortunately unsuccessful. I highly recommend Dr. Larsen to anyone in the valley for their fertility care. Currently, I am 39 weeks pregnant after 2 egg retrievals (done at 37 and 38 years old) and 1 transfer (done at 39 years old) . As a Family Nurse Practitioner with an Integrative Medicine perspective, I am not the easiest patient to work with at times. However, Dr. Larsen was willing to collaborate with me and his warm and fuzzy presence was incredibly comforting during our fertility journey which had its moments of high stress, twists, and turns. Additionally, I always felt like I was treated like a human. I never felt rushed. All of my questions and concerns were answered. And when it came to doing the ultrasounds and procedures, Dr. Larsen treated my body with gentleness and respect. The staff at the Scottsdale and Mesa locations were friendly, kind, and responsive to my needs. They assign each patient a navigator as your primary communication person who helps answer your questions and support your needs through the process in a timely manner. I had a great experience at Advanced Fertility Care. I went in for some testing in 2012, and then back in 2014 when we decided to do IVF. Dr. Larsen and Dr. Zoneraich were both very helpful and supportive, and they were very positive through the whole process. I had success on my first round, so even though it was a big investment (we paid the full amount) it was worth it! I'm now 19 weeks along, and hopefully we will be back in 2 years or so for another transfer. My husband and I had been to several Fertility doctors but found Dr Larsen & his staff to be the best. He is straightforward/honest, has excellent bedside manners, and is very personable. I started my journey to baby here in 2019 after insurance told me I was covered at this location. I did no research, just picked it because that's where insurance told me I could go. I'm so happy I stepped foot into the office because just one IUI later I ended up with my angel baby boy in 2020. I had done testing prior at another clinic and I remember it being easy to get all my results sent over which made it easy to jump right into things especially since my cycle had just started. We're currently trying for baby #2 and immediately called the clinic again as soon as we could. A lot has changed since 2019 and things are great. There's a portal online that gives you results fairly quick and I had someone text me periodically to check in and I could text to ask questions. Highly recommend! read more

He would refuse to continue if I don't respond the first cycle or less than 3 eggs are for retrieval in any one cycle. They only do Conventional IVF. Maybe it's good for younger patients. Hello, I was referred to Dr. Larsen in 2019 because I have had a tubal ligation and an ablation and am now wanting options for having a baby. My first appointment with Dr. Larsen was on 1/10/2020. Prior to my appointment they ran my benefits and stated that I would be responsible for $226 copay for my consultation because I have a $1,500 deductible. On the day of my appointment they provided me with a printout of my benefits that they received from my insurance company Humana. It stated that everything was covered, but needed a prior authorization first. On the benefits page it stated that there were no exclusions. On the day of my appointment, it was the 2nd day of my menstrual cycle. Since there are certain tests that need to be done during this time, and I was already in the office, I agreed to get the process started. After my consultation with Dr. Larsen, the staff put me in a room to run my benefits to see how much I would need to pay for blood work and an ultrasound. I would expect, and office of this type to be already on the ball of getting the prior authorizations needed for both procedures. At check out they inform me that they, in fact did not get a prior authorization but assured me that they would. I was scheduled for another ultrasound on Thursday, January 16th. Hours prior to my appointment, the office calls me and tells me that Humana has denied all of my claims, stating that they will not cover any part of infertility because my tubes have been tied. This office knew on my referral that prior to my appointment that my tubes were tied. They new prior to my appointment when I called and spoke to them my concerns about my tubes being tied. How is is that they as professionals did not review that or provide that information while checking my benefits. This is their primary function as a doctors office, to give hope to women like me who want to be a mommy!! Being that I've worked in doctor's offices before and have done insurance claims and processes to that nature, I am knowledgeable of how claims and denials work. Yesterday, 1/23/2020 I noticed on my claims w/ Humana, that Dr. Larsen's office only billed Humana for my ultrasound, which they charged me in office $96 dollars for. According to my claims Humana paid and my responsibility was only $95. HOWEVER, the office never sent a claim for the initial office visit or consult, in which they charged me $226. I should not have to follow up on a doctor's office to do their job! The fact that without insurance coverage I am unable to in any way shape or form have a child has been mentally challenging myself and my partner. I suffer from anxiety and depression, and this whole process has been completely unsatisfactory. read more

Dr. Zoneraich and Dr. Larsen are amazing doctors. We struggled with fertility for many many years and came to their office with the decision to do IVF as a last resort. The doctors are knowledgable and competent, with great bedside manner. I appreciate that I always see a doctor at every appointment. They are thorough and know what they are doing!! I felt confident in them every step of the way. We have 2 beautiful girls thanks to these wonderful doctors. I'd also like to add (because of the review below), that we did IVF in 2014, 2016, and 2017. We were cash patients. We were NEVER not told of any expenses prior to the procedures. We were given all information written out, and it was completely explained. If something was confusing (as medical billing can be), we asked questions and were always given an explanation. No surprises. When you go into have fertility treatments done, you know you're going to pay for it. Just the way it is in our state. read more

I worked with Dr Kummer for our IUI process. She was nice, seemed to care, and listened overall. I did not have a bad experience with her. My issue is with the company and facility. I will admit my mistake of not informing Dr Kummer of our plans to freeze my husband's sperm, which is a costly mistake. But it does not excuse their enormous mistake. When his sperm was frozen the first time (for $600), the lab called and advised we should do a second freezing (which would cost only $75) because the sperm count was low. THERE WAS NOTHING MENTIONED BY THE LAB TECH ABOUT POOR QUALITY. we did a second freezing and was advised upon that one that the count was in the high millions. AGAIN NOTHING MENTIONED ABOUT THE QUALITY. I did know that freezing and unfreezing would lower perm quantity, but nothing was mentioned about it lowering it by 99%. Went in for my IUI and was told after the wash that the sperm count went from 90 million to under 1 million and had low motility (poor quality). When asked how that could happen, I was informed that it was noted as poor quality before the wash. Up to this point I spent $675 on freezing the sperm and $500+ on the IUI process. So basically, their lab tech knew the quality was poor before and after the freezing, and no one in the office felt it necessary to inform me before going through hormones and money. We would have not done the IUI had we known about the quality....I mean we are both educated and well informed adults. So the office looks into it and tells me that the lab tech did inform me. BS! They screwed us over and had the audacity to put the blame on us. With much fighting, we got a minute refund of $300. So my advice to others looking at this company, be aware. This company only cares about the money sign. read more

I loved my experience with AFC. I have worked with all of the doctors there at one point in the process and I liked them all but Dr. Larsen is my favorite, and all of the nurses and office staff are great as well. They have multiple locations as well. I conceived my first child there in my first treatment and I conceived my second child right away as well. BEST FERTILITY SPECIALIST IN THE VALLEY. I don't write reviews but had to share this experience. My husband and I tried having kids for 3+ years on our own with no luck. I did my research and found a few doctors that were covered by my insurance. The first reason I chose to visit Advanced Fertility Care was because their website provided you with good information on your options and encouraged you to go outside of their practice and do your own research. I like to stay informed and educate myself so this was a big plus. They also have 3 locations which makes it more convenient. The 2 doctors (both are amazing) rotate through these locations and the staff does the same....so you get familiar with the team and it makes the experience more comfortable. Once I made an appointment with AFC they called me about a week before the appointment to update me that my insurance was checked out and gave me the breakdown of what will be covered and what to expect financially when I come in for my appointment. We primarily worked with Dr. Larsen but did visit with Dr. Zoneraich a few times. Both doctors were down to earth, treated you like a person and not a #, gave you time to ask questions and showed great compassion. Both doctors were very thorough in performing all the right tests to make the best possible recommendation for your unique situation. The staff was always accommodating and pleasant... that includes the billing (which is normally a nightmare in any other situation). The front desk ladies knew who you were when you came...it got pretty emotional at times and I received many hugs :) so they made it feel like you had support and I felt like they really cared. We are now 4 months pregnant with a little girl... can't wait to meet her. If I had to do it again I would not change a thing... well... maybe one... I would of done this sooner. read more

Gosh, where do I even start? I started my fertility journey December of 2017. I initially went to another fertility clinic to start the process. When I started there, I was given horrible information and advice. I had multiple failed IUI's and was very discouraged and upset, not to mention out of a lot of money. I wasn't sure that I wanted to even continue pursuing what has always been my dream, to be a Mother. My insurance company sent me a list of fertility clinics that are centers of excellence, let me tell you, that is a short list. I chose Advanced Fertility from that list mainly because they have multiple locations, which appealed to me. I went in to my first appointment with Dr Kummer not expecting much, since the other fertility clinic left a very bad taste in my mouth. That first appointment Dr Kummer promised me that my experience with her and the staff at Advanced Fertility would be completely different than the old clinic. And I want to say, she kept her promise. Every single appointment you always see a Dr. The billing is clear and up front, I was never surprised by a bill or a cost at an appointment. The office is organized and I never have a problem calling and talking to someone if I have any questions. Almost one year after starting treatment with them, I had my last appointment with Dr Kummer, now I will be seeing my OB as I am pregnant with a baby boy! Dr Kummer is the most kind, compassionate and understanding Dr that I have come across in a long time. She listened to me cry, vent my frustrations and ask a million questions and she was always sweet and patient with me. Sherry, who is the embryologist with Advanced Fertility is also one of my favorites! She and Dr Kummer make quite the team! As I left the office today, I cried. We are immensely grateful to the AFC for helping us conceive our daughter through IVF. I saw all the doctors (Zoneraich, Larsen, and Kummer) and was impressed with their expertise, helpfulness, and warmth. Ours was a tricky case--at first glance it looked like a straightforward male-factor explanation, but we were surprisingly unsuccessful. Zoneraich suggested a few extra tests (an ERA and an epigenetic sperm test--these were not too pricey) and each one revealed crucial information that led to our successful transfer. His instincts were impeccable--he knew exactly what to try. It's horrible to be in the IVF club and even worse when you don't get that positive test right away, but our medical team at AFC always had solutions and guidance that helped us feel hopeful about this daunting process. I cannot say enough good things about my experience at AFC. After six years of infertility that left us heartbroken and strained as a couple, I found the staff at AFC and especially Drs. Z and Larsen to be patient, caring, and incredibly empathetic. Although we had many factors working against us, we knew through patient explanation what our chances of success were, what the odds were of various treatments, and what to expect from the process. I never felt like I was an imposition with my dozens of questions and I always felt that my fears, frustrations, and anxieties were respected. Months of appointments later, I'm now expecting a baby. There are no guarantees, but for a particularly challenging case like ours, I know that I was in the best hands and that everything was done to give us the best chance of delivering a healthy child. Dr. Larsen is very good! I initially went to a fertility clinic in Glendale AZ within proximity of where we live. Big mistake! I saw the doctor there, and she pushed us off to someone else for subsequent visits. We were unsuccessful with IUI. I called the doctor to enquire why and see what we can do to improve our chances, that doctor's assistant said she was too "busy" to talk to us. She also mentioned to my husband he was not her "client" when we had one of the initial visits. With everything combined, we decided not to return. I then researched, and it turns out that when we lived in another state, we had found Dr. Larsen online, so we thought let's pay him a visit. He spent over an hour with us, and we saw him during every subsequent visit. I also had fibroids and he told this was most likely the reason I am not conceiving. He referred me to a gynecologist in Scottsdale, she referred me to a great doctor in Tucson and 3.5 months after we removed the fibroids in Tucson, we conceived. read more

We've been on our infertility journey since 2009. Advanced Fertility Care is the 4th fertility Drs office we went to. We LOVE them! I will never go anywhere else. They are the whole package. In our early experiences with other offices, we found the hands off approach frustrating. We saw Drs at consultations but all treatments and ultrasounds were done by nurse practitioners. Decisions were frequently made by nurse practitioners. We thought this was normal care - it's not! I have never been seen by a nurse practitioner at Advanced Fertility Care. In fact I don't even think they have one. You will always be seen by Dr Larsen or Dr Zoneraich unless you are only there for a blood draw. Also at other offices we spent hours in the waiting room. Anyone who has had fertility care knows you have to go to a LOT of appointments. I've seen Dr Larsen for over 3 years now and I have never waited longer than 10 minutes in the waiting room. In fact I rarely have time to pull up Facebook on my phone before they are calling me back. Talk about REFRESHING! Dr Larsen and Dr Zoneraich listen. They spend time with you. You can tell they care about you and you are given individualized care. Their staff is incredible. They are on the ball and have never made a mistake with my care. They are polite and sensitive and truly perfection. They are the reason we have our beautiful daughter and now another one on the way. We wish we had found them sooner.
