I spend $150 - $200 each summer at D-Bats and use the facility in Fort Myers, FL. Have always had…read morea positive visit. Today all cages were empty. I set up in the last cage. As normal, chose softball with 12' arc. Machine pitched 8 of 15 softballs acceptably (not perfect strikes but OK). The other 7 pitches hit the lower wheel, that pitches baseballs, causing softball to nosedive. The manager/owner was kind enough to reset the machine and give me credit for unhittable pitches. I thanked him. Again, swiped my card. First 8 pitches were fine, then the next 7 sporadically hit the baseball wheel. I decided to move to the second cage. Machine in second cage performed normally by pitching 13 of 15 balls acceptably. In my considered opinion, this is normal pitching for D-Bats Solon. In between hitting, I was loudly chastised by manager/owner for picking out softballs on which to spend my credits. He is correct that I choose softballs that are round and have intact covers. Even with being picky, the pitching machine(s) has never pitched 15 hittable balls. I am OK with a few errant pitches. If I am not picky about the softballs, then there are more errant pitches. Manager/owner mistakenly blamed me for the numerous softballs on the floor behind the hopper in the second cage. I do clean up after my last round. If I misinterpreted this incident, would happily discuss another point of view. Of interest, as I was leaving a gentleman was hitting slow-pitch in last cage. I observed then asked and he confirmed that some pitches were not hittable.

So pickleball was a smash hit. Then I went into the club to get a beer, a tour, and a membership. I was pleasantly surprised by all the amenities that they offer. They have weights, a walking/jogging tracking, a steam room, a bar, a lounge, TVs, ping pong, shuffleboard, pilates classes, cardio fitness equpment, indoor & outdoor tennis courts, outdoor pickleball courts, volleyball courts, basketball courts, indoor golf, soccer/lacrosse field, and updated locker rooms. There's a lot going on here compared to other health clubs in the area. I spoke with the general manager, Val, and she was super friendly and down to earth. We had a draft beer from the bar, while we chatted and watched tennis on TV. I really liked the vibe that this place has and I am hoping to start using the weight machines and pickleball often.

If you are playing someone that knows the facility well, they will use that angle to their advantage! The locker room facilities are adequate, but you will definitely be taken back to the late 80s early 90s with the decor. There are several toiletries available for use in case you forgot anything, and a separate area with large mirrors for getting ready after your work out. The facility offers a full-size basketball court, walking track, and with several weight/fitness equipment options. I have never been a member of this club, but have visited as a guest many times. It is tucked away in an industrial parkway area of Fairlawn, so you need to be alert when searching for the building.

The pricing is reasonable, with different packages and membership levels available. The 19-hole course is beautiful and well-maintained, and the staff is consistently helpful and kind. But my favorite part? The food--everything I've tried on the menu has been absolutely delicious! Overall, I'm really happy with my decision to join.

From what we were shown versus what we received as dishes the difference was night and day. Completely different cuts of meat. Completely different preparations. And then everything tasted and looked as if it either was boiled forever or microwaved. Now this at the end of the night isn't bad as bad food still doesn't matter when you are celebrating. But not listening to food allergen warnings will kill someone. We had many guests who are either gluten intolerant to the point of severe sickness or had severe tree nut and peanut allergies. So the bride and groom both agreed to have gluten free bread and a gluten free chicken dish as a menu option and NO nuts. The chicken was suppose to be gluten free and when it was served, it contained bread crumbs. Which contains gluten. So the groom couldn't eat the main meal as he didn't want to be sick vomiting all night. The first salad "dish" served was wilted lettuce with WALNUTS! Not trusting that the chefs took any care with the preparation of the dishes or being careful about cross contamination. The best man didn't eat anything they prepared. So not only did the groom not get the main meal, the best man didn't get to eat at the venue. The management team here really needs to figure out what they are doing. This was an embarrassing show from people who allegedly have been doing this for years. They need to operate at least at an okay standard if they hope not to be litigated out of existence. If we weren't careful we could have had a serious allergic reaction that could have caused a death. It was pitiful to be around such unprofessional and amateur planning by the management team of this club. If it wasn't for how great the rest of the staff was I am sure this place would have had many more problems.

The place was clean and they kept up on the emptying of trash receptacles. there's a concession area on the second floor with several tables and chairs where you could sit and watch the games from above via the several windows looking down onto the court. Concession options are limited however several restaurant are only within a few mile drive that you can take advantage of during long breaks between games. Overall, was a good experience.

There is also a nice snack bar with a tropical fishtank about halfway through the course. There's not a lot of extravagant drinks there (don't expect a martini or a grasshopper or anything like that), but there is a good variety of beers, wines, IPAs, and seltzers for the adults as well as slushies and sodas for the kids. As for the course, it's incredible what they've been able to do with such a small space. They've basically snaked 19 holes around a fairly large basement area that begins and ends in the same spot, and each hole (save five or so in the middle that are essentially one big diorama and two holes making up an ocean area) has its own theme. There are animatronics, sound effects, and painting tricks that work well with the 3D glasses, but it's not necessary to wear them to enjoy the experience. I highly recommend this place with some caveats. Try to go during times of lower traffic. Weekend/weekday mornings and the first couple of hours on Sundays tend to be the least busy and allow for a more relaxed play experienced. If you find it is crowded, I can't believe it has to be said, but please be respectful to your fellow golphers. A lot of the bad reviews on here seem to be more about inconsiderate customers than the quality of the course. Keep in mind that as I said, the space is a bit cramped due to the maze-like layout of the place, so respecting personal space and waiting your turn is a must here. Also, you're not just paying to play, you're paying to see the artwork. Trust me, there are a lot of cool little details in the displays and on the walls that people don't seem to pay attention to when they speed through the course. To use a restaurant metaphor: the place may look like fast food to be consumed and devoured, but it's more complex than that and should be taken in and savored.
