If I could give 0 star, I would. We had a J1 visa. Pinnacle made a really bad bad bad joy. January 2019 : we are finally done with our 2016 tax returns prepared by Pinnacle. They made so much mistakes that it costed us 1000$ just for the fees to the IRS and the California Franchise Tax Board. But the best part of their job is that in April 2017, they confirmed they prepared our 2016 taxes. And in January 2018, after having sent more than 20 messages and called without response, the IRS and the FTB confirmed Pinnacle never sent our preparation. So, please, don't waste your money (more than 400$ for a simple tax return). They are online services that do everything for 100$ and it is just perfect! read more

HORRIBLE COMPANY.THE WORST! RUN! DO NOT GO HERE! I was told their staff was still attending school and will be getting their CPA license. I own a small business and my income tax was outsourced to someone who was incompetent. I found so many errors and mistakes that I had to correct this tax filer 10 times. I was initially interviewed by Danny. He asked me if I received a tax form from Shopify. Um...Shopify only gives to us if we made over $20k in sales per year. Wow, this Danny guy does not know anything about how tax or small business works. I asked Danny for a quote on his Bookkeeping service and he straight up told me to worry about that later. I guess they don't want my business. I kept a copy of my email correspondence with this company, and I wrote: "Hello Danny, We met on Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2017. You stated you will be finished with my income tax within 2-3 days. I see that the last time you logged into my Quickbooks was Aug. 16. It's been 7 days. I have not heard anything from your company. Your other CPA colleague has not contacted me for questions by email or by phone either. Could you please let me know how much longer this will take since your promise of 2-3 days filing is overdue." They responded to my Yelp review, claiming they never spoke with me. I welcome EVERYONE to write me. And I can provide copies of all my email correspondences with this company as proof. And it does show their email address from @pinnacletaxandaccounting.com. I created a special folder in my email inbox as a reminder to never use this company again. NIGHTMARE! UPDATE: So today 8/3/2018 I got a message behind the scene from Danny S and this is what he wrote: "Instead of leaving a nasty email about our firm, you could reach out to resolve this issue as we have no idea who you are. If we spoke in 2017, not sure why you are coming back now and I am pretty sure you haven't paid us for any services." I blocked Danny S. from writing me and report to Yelp Support. I don't appreciate this company writing me behind the scene. I feel bullied and threatened. This is unacceptable. Yelp reviews are for us consumers to write an honest review of our experience and we should have the right to do so without any retaliation and bullying. Danny claimed he is pretty sure I didn't pay for any services. THIS IS AN OUTRIGHT LIE. I had to pay in ADVANCE with my credit card BEFORE they can start filing my taxes. My previous CPA passed away in 2015 so I had to find a new one back then and I remember calling different CPA firms and what I noticed was that everyone was base everything on money. Bad business to just always talk about money and based everything on that! My experience with Pinnacle was very frustrating. From the very beginning I felt pushed aside, looked down on, and like my business did not matter to them. Let me start from the beginning... I was drawn to Pinnacle due to their glowing reviews on Yelp and the fact that they were located so close to my home. (For the last 4 years I have been driving to San Bernardino to see my tax preparer.) When I reached out to Pinnacle via email to schedule an appointment I received an immediate response. We were told we must have a (free) consultation before getting our taxes done and Danny was very accommodating when I told him I needed an appointment late in the day due to the fact that I work an hour and a half away from home. We were able to meet with Danny at 6:30pm the very next day about dissolving my husband's LLC and preparing our taxes. Our taxes are pretty straight-forward with minor deductions and nothing overly complicated. I feel like once we explained to Danny what was needed, his attitude changed drastically. As if we were wasting his time with our simple requests. He even said to us, "I normally do not deal with this small, simple stuff... I typically focus on more complicated work." Okay... Should we talk to someone else then? We met with Pinnacle with only a week and a half until tax day so we decided to hire them despite the attitude. Danny said to leave our tax file with him and he would email us our tax return in a week. I expressed concern about leaving my file with him since I did not have copies of ANY of my tax documents (1099's, W2's, receipts, etc). Danny said we would get everything back in a week so not to worry. Since I wanted my original copies back (and not scanned copies), I asked Danny if we could come in once our tax return was ready and he said that would be fine. Fast forward 1 week: The tax deadline is imminent so I email Danny to schedule our follow up appointment. No answer. I spend the next two days trying to make a follow up appointment with Danny and the quick, attentive communication from a week prior is now non-existent. Once I finally get a hold of him I try to schedule another late afternoon appointment but Danny made it clear that I was inconveniencing him by doing so. He "makes an exception" to see me at 6 but says that I need to "make sure I set a time for early in the day next year." This frustrates me because I made my schedule clear from the get-go... If we cannot meet late in the day, we cannot do business with each other. I feel like Pinnacle is accommodating when you schedule your consultation but is no longer willing to oblige once you are a client that isn't high net-worth. I left work early to make my 6pm appointment with Danny and after he guilt tripped me about making him work late, he didn't even show up to the appointment! He had one of his associates meet with me instead and when she handed me my tax file all of the documents that I specifically came to pick up were missing. (My receipts, 1099's, W2's, etc.) Someone was able to locate all of the missing paperwork and I was happy to finally be done with Pinnacle. I would rather use Turbo Tax in the future. I will NOT be back. read more

I had an appointment with a certain Hayk. Really rude person: (1) As soon as I arrived in the office he started to talk to me in an aggressive way arguing I did not take his calls. I was really surprised because I had already confirmed the appointment and he called me about 20 minutes before, while I was in the car, the reason why I did not take his calls; (2) That day I had my shooes little bit dirty because I was in rush to arrive on time at the appointment. Hayk looked at my shooes and than loocked at me in a really disgusted way, like if I were the worse person in the universe; (3) When we finally started the meeting he asked me for tax return of the previous year, I started to look for it in my filefolder and after one minute, he sayed in a really hangry "hurry up I do not want waste my time with you"; (4) When he started to look at my documentation he sayed some suspecious thinghs, I had the impression he was not really expert in fileing tax treaty for J1 visa holder and for foreign people. I would not hire this kind of person for something important like fileing tax return. Stay away from this place. read more

This company is a nightmare! They messed up my taxes for 2016 so badly! I used this service in 2015, and was advised that if I changed my LLC to an SCorp it would save me in taxes, and asked if I wanted to do this, and I agreed! This was never done I found out the next tax year. In 2015 Robert recommended a payroll service ADP to me, and set me up with an appointment. I used their service in 2016, and I even reminded Robert that I never received papers from ADP, and asked if they had sent him my papers, to which he never emailed back, but I assumed that he was taking care of this. Pinnacle did not add payroll information on my 2016 taxes, and I am just now finding this out from the IRS force debiting thousands of dollars from my account!!! They also never turned in my payment arrangement papers which I signed and sent back to Pinnacle in October. I noticed in November that a payment had not come from my account yet, so I emailed Lien Cao from Pinnacle Tax asking her why that was, and also why I received a penalty notice in the mail from the IRS, to which she responded that the IRS would take at least 2 months to start the installment plan. I am now getting letters from the IRS and state saying that I owe in full THOUSANDS and that the installment plan was never sent!! I emailed the company asking what is going on, and if they can fix this for me, and my response from them was they sent me the number of the IRS, and a disengagement letter saying that they do not have the resources to continue helping me. I have already paid them over $1500 to file my taxes in 2016. The only reason that I used this company for 2016 taxes was because I initially paid $950 for them to start a new LLC, and changed my mind about the new company the same day that I paid, so they never filed the papers for this, and I asked for a refund but never got a response back. So then, hoping not to lose the $950, and not knowing what to do, I asked if we could use the $950 for the next tax year, to which they responded back immediately that I could and I paid them the difference to file 2016 taxes. I am going to have to hire a tax attorney to help me now. read more
