I found out that Pinnacle now has Ardnamurchan Scotch, which I have become very fond of, but could only find in Buffalo (where my daughter lives). Well they not only had it ( although I could not spell or pronounce it) they recommended a related blended Scotch (Macleans's Nose), also a great discovery. Now that I'm more into wine, I've grown to appreciate Pinnacle more. Pinnacle offers an excellent selection in a more compact presentation (as opposed to Century). It's encompassing but not overwhelming and you can go in & out quickly. The staff is also very attentive. I'm also on their mailing list and can sometimes find deals on wines that are lower priced than online. An example of this is the 2017 Matthews Claret that Pinnacle sold for $21.99 / bottle. The best price currently per bottle is $32.99. They also have impressively adapted with the crazy times of the pandemic. You can order online and have "curbside"' delivery of your booze. I haven't tried that yet, but maybe soon. read more

We love Pinnacle. It is bright, clean, well-maintained and friendly, unlike so many other Rochester liquor stores. The staff is deeply knowledgeable, and glad to help with advice, to carry things, or to just have a pleasant chat. Their selection is so good that we pass by a number of other liquor stores to go there. They carry my favorite Sauvignon Blanc, and a number of the more exotic liqueurs my husband uses in cocktails. Pinnacle Wine & Liquor used to do business as Yaeger's, occupying a slot next to Different Point of View in the old Red Barn Plaza. When Whitehouse Liquors made their move to Henrietta, they took over their location in Brighton and changed their name to Pinnacle. Whatever the name, Pinnacle is a welcome upgrade from the low overhead atmosphere cultivated by Whitehouse. After all these year the joint has a new carpet. Pinnacle's selection of wines & spirits is pretty comprehensive & the prices are on par with the larger retailers. I'm sure they'll do well with the built-in clientele... I doubt that they will have a need to shop elsewhere. So, if you don't want to trek down to Century & battle the lower Monroe Ave traffic, this is your best bet on the East side... read more

Why I haven't been going here more often is beyond me! They have a well-curated selection and the store is not too overwhelming, but not small either. I've always found what I was looking for or found a comparable substitution. The prices are competitive too. The staff is friendly and helpful. They've provided some great recommendations on wines and tequilas to try. They know the products here! Again, if they don't have what you're looking for, they'll point you in the direction of something equally as good. I also appreciate the "staff pick" tags, the ones info about wineries, and wine point levels so you get a little more background on what you're choosing. I have to say, it is a rarity that you find a business whose expertise shines, but is surpassed by its professionalism which is overshadowed by its friendliness. Pinnacle and all the team there are truly one of those Unicorns. No matter when I've walked in, ordered a bottle or two (or maybe more :-)), had a question I emailed, needed to return something "faulty", I've always felt respected and like family. My time with them started a few years back when I first started getting "into" wine. That first day I felt like they wanted to get to know me, not just sell me a bottle, and its just grown from there. Pinnacle Wine & Liquor is ALWAYS my go to place for wine - great selection, helpful and smart employees - the best. Today was the first time I went there since the pandemic started and they were better than ever - taking people's orders right at their car windows and being as friendly and easygoing as ever. I received the ersatz 'apology' from the owner's son who threatened my family and I with a golf club when we arrived at closing time last week. Pinnacle is an exceptional wine store. Visiting Rochester and wanting to buy some good New York State wine, I found Pinnacle on the internet. As soon as I entered , I saw a great selection. Furthermore, every area -- Italy, France, California...etc. was strong: highly select, with good prices and knowledgeable surprises. I wish we had this wine store in Pennsylvania, where I'm from. But that's not the end of the story. I left my wallet in the store and only realized this when I stopped at a gas station in PA. When I called the store, I was immediately greeting with my name and "we have it." Furthermore, the store next-day Fedex'd the wallet. Great wines, great people! The best. read more

They may be smaller than other wine or liquor stores around, but their quality is amazing and the owners seem to know something about every bottle they stock.
