Called to have a non functioning thermostat replaced in September 2025. The agent told us the heating system, which has been operating fine since we moved in 22 years ago, was miswired. He sent a bill for 2.75 hours of work. To swap out a thermostat. I asked the owner to call and never received a call back. Will not work with them again. read more

I have been using Pinney Plumbing since moving back to Keene a little under two years ago. The house that I bought had quite a few pretty serious plumbing issues as well as an older boiler and hot water heater, so I've had to have them out quite a few times in that short span. They have consistently been extremely police, prompt, and courteous. They do good work and the pricing is fair -- let's face it, there are NOT a lot of skilled plumbers in the area, so they could very easily price-gouge, but do not do so. Most recently, they came in to save the day when my boiler malfunctioned going into the weekend. The day before, it had stopped heating the house, but the secretary was able to walk me through restarting it over the phone which temporarily fixed the issue. She recommended having it serviced as I had not done so yet since buying the house -- the regular service was booked out for weeks, so I scheduled the appointment for that time. The next day, which happened to be Friday, of course, the house was cold again. They got someone out IMMEDIATELY to look at the problem. The technicians found two issues which solved the problem temporarily, but several hours later, the unit still wasn't working properly. By then, it was after-hours. The owner called me personally and was SO kind and sympathetic, and sent someone out right away. He was also very honest, in my opinion, because I asked him if I thought that I needed a new boiler and he said no; his guys would have told him if it was on its last legs; it just needs more regular service. He could very easily have said yes and gotten a multi-thousand-dollar boiler install job, so I found that very note-worthy. We were able to diagnose the problem this time and we've had reliable heat since. read more

If I could give a lower "star" rating, I would. I called on an emergency basis on a Friday night and had to listen to a nasty rant that went on for a long time. Ridiculing me personally before they ever identified the problem - coupled with a clear statement that I had to switch over my service to them for ongoing service on the following Monday. I would rather freeze to death than deal with them in the future. read more

We called these guys to come replace a pipe in our basement that was corroded, and a guy showed up saying he was there to replace a toilet. I was charged $100 despite this being THEIR screw up. So Ethan comes over to look at the pipe to give us a quote. At the time, we had a cage of coturnix quail in our basement being housed because it was winter time. I had JUST cleaned out their cage the day before. He proceeded to tell me it smelled aweful down there and we had "bigger problems than the pipe". I'm not a confrontational person at all. I know in most cases, people would off kicked him off their property imediately for this and told him not to return. I remained polite and tried to ignore the nasty comments, but made up my mind that once he was gone, we were done. I ended up calling Keating Plumbing And Heating later that day, and they came by within a few hours of Ethan leaving. They had NO issue with the quail, and were quick and efficient with quoting us and having someone out there to replace the pipe. I called Pinney because I had heard really good things about them. I know the original owner, Ethan's father, had died just a couple months before. Maybe that's when the service was decent. After my experience, I started hearing more and more stories that were similar to mine, mostly with Ethan being an unprofessional hothead who's unable to shut his mouth, and would lose his shit over stupid petty things. Give it a few years, the buisness won't last. read more

We had a plumbing emergency at our house, to which we were left without heat and hot water on cold winter nights, and instead of being compassionate, Ethan was incredibly disrespectful and spent 5-10 minutes ridiculing our family for "not being loyal to a plumbing company" and having to call Pinney in a bind. He continued to lecture us about how he was working day and night, which we were completely understanding of, and how he "didn't want to get involved in our mess. " Between the disrespect, the judgmental attitude, and the lack of empathy, I would never recommend him, nor would we ever call him again. read more

I have used them since 1996. They were honest and reliable. They are the approved vendor for my complex. However, last year and this year I have been repeatedly disappointed. The pandemic has caused them to charge more than they should have, in my opinion. They were looking to recoup lost revenue I believe. I had to replace my 70 gallon hot water heater and they offered me 80 or 55. They gave me the 55. Probably what they wanted to get rid of. If I want a walk in bathtub I will have to replace it. Then they came to repair my toilet and used the wrong length screws and lied about it. I was under warranty and was charged for the next visit. I tried them again for kitchen sink and bathroom insulation replacement of existing sink. Saw overcharge of sink which was corrected but extra labor charged me and when I called to question it I was told they were justified since they had to run around to get parts. Do places charge for their travel time back and forth to the office as part of labor? Is this standard or something new? I hope I don't need a plumber again for a really long time. They charge more than medical doctors. These guys used to be honest and reasonable. Medicine should be free. Nothing is free. read more

We scheduled Pinney to close our cottage for the winter. Pinney has winterized the cottage every year since we first bought it about 7 years ago. Jim the plumber arrived promptly and started to work. He saw that we had built a garage that included a toilet and sink and felt he would need to do some modification to allow him to more easily add antifreeze to the point of use hot water heater. He called the office and spoke to Ethan. Ethan told Jim to stop work because our contractor who built the garage used his regular plumber to do the bathroom and did not ask Pinney to quote on the work. My wife and I both spoke to Ethan and said we saw nothing wrong with our contractor using his own subs and that we had made sure to tell the plumber that Pinney always winterizes and summarizes the cottage and that the plumber needed to make provisions for winterizing the new bathroom - which he did. We asked Ethan if Jim could just do the cottage (as he has done in the past) and we would take care of the garage separately. Ethan said he is trying to get away from doing cottage openings and closings, and he did not allow Jim to continue work. Pinney has done a number of modifications to our cottage to facilitate the winterizing, installed a filtration system and plumbed an outdoor shower. We have always been great customers of Pinney....until now. Ethan really let us down. We feel that Ethan is unrealistic and is taking his Father's business in the wrong direction. read more

I had work on my summer home in Dublin, NH. Plumbing on a water pump. Call and they arrived an they did excellent work. They fixed my plumbing for the pump. Also on another job I had a water problem on my circuit breaker box. This happened on Christmas Day Dec 25, 2020. They came to my house and gave me all the assistance I needed. Having a café with some old and very used equipment I sometime encounter problems with my freezers, fridges and ice makers. I have gone through several refrigeration companies without any good results. Finally, we chose Pinney, out of the phone book as a last resource. Turned out to be a lucky move. I also used their plumbing services yesterday for a tenant space in another one of my buildings and while they could not solve the problem themselves (a big blockage) they were thorough, getting in touch with me to explain the problem and recommending other companies who could tackle this particular job. They get five stars for response time, service and fair pricing. read more

My fiance called Pinney Plumbing to set up an estimate for various plumbing needs for our house. After the appointment was set up, a man (I forgot his name) from Pinney came to our house on time, and we went through each of the items that need to be fixed. He said that it would take a week for him to draw up an estimate, and then he would call us back. Three weeks later, and we still haven't heard back from him. My water pump died on a weekend day and I didn't know what to do. I looked up plumbers in the area and I called Pinney Plumbing & heating and they were right there when I called. They sent someone out to fix it for me that weekend and I've had no issues since! The plumber who came out to my home was very kind and knowledgeable when I asked him questions about the process. This company was able to give us some free advice over the phone while every other company was saying we'd be charged $180 just for them to travel here. Not interested in doing business! Generally the Pinney plumbing team is great, so I contacted them to get a gas heater in my laundry room replaced. They promptly sent a guy to check it out. He said he'd get back to us with a quote. This was on a Monday. The following Wed (10 days later) I contacted the office, because we'd heard nothing. The dispatcher said she'd put a note on the guy's desk. It's now the following Fri (another 10 days) and we still have not heard a word from Pinney, who claim that one of their services is selling and installing gas space heaters. Had them replace a new faucet in the tub....the old one had been leaking..they installed a new faucet but they had to solder a new piece of copper and remove the old. Job took over 2 hours!
