This was a great experience. It was fun day out on a rainy day with the kids. It's a couple of days after Christmas and we wanted to get the kids out of the house. They both love to paint . They had a snowman class . You could pick either a boy or girl. The instructor was both kind and entertaining. He has two kids of his own. He understood about how to keep the kids interested. He encouraged to change up the snowman to anything you wanted. He also shared a few tricks with paint brush to create snow and ornaments on the tree . Nolan did a storm trooper and Amanda did Olof. They have a great detailed website with what they offer and days and times that may work for you. You can prepay so your spot is reserved. It was the perfect tho g to do on a dreary day . I'm not an artist... let's just get that out there. I hate everything that I'm not good at when I attempt. Well, that was before I tried painting with friends while under the influence. All the perfectionist stuff goes out the window unless you're an artist like my daughter, who somehow got pictures of my painting texted to her midway through. She texted me the encouraging words "kindergarten status". Oh well, I had a blast! Here's the run down... I wasn't in charge of booking the group, so I can only tell you my side as a tagalong. We were a group of about 20. The person in our group who was in charge of booking the event chose which painting that we would all be painting. It wasn't something that I would've chose, but I would never tell her that... I'm a good sport. The doors opened 30 minutes before the session was to start. You walk in and show ID and get a stamp... to prove that you're 21 and of legal admittance. So don't leave your ID at home and don't bring along the kids. The drinks are in the back. They had a lot of wines to choose from and all or most of them were in the $20-$23 range. I chose the bottle and was able to take home what I didn't drink. They put it in a sealed bag and I put it in the trunk, that way it was "legal" for the drive home. Some of the people in our group brought snacks and appetizers, which was an added touch to the event. The painting started at 6:30 and ended at 8:30. I should probably stop there and not elaborate on the painting part. Ok, here goes... I pretty much laughed the entire time. No, it wasn't just the wine, the whole experience was a blast. The painting itself was of fish, but my version looked more like sperm. When I got home, my daughter said that she will "touch it up" for me, but honestly, it'll take a miracle to salvage it. My husband's painting, on the other hand, was impressive! Who knew that painting was one of his many talents?! read more

. I've never really got into painting pictures besides the yearly tempra paint Christmas murals I would create on the windows of my parents house in California. Santa and his sleigh and 8 reindeer plus Rudolph. But real painting. On a canvas. I hated it. Because I never liked the results. But as I've grown older, life has been showing me this message. Enjoy the process and stop fixating on what you think the result should be. As a perfectionist who hates making mistakes. What's the best way to grow beyond that? Doing something new or difficult. And for an extra challenge. Do it surrounded by people you don't know! So I attended a class at Pinot's Pallet. I had to give myself the opportunity to practice what I've told children I've worked with over the years. Art isn't about being good. It's about how it makes you feel. And art is the place mistakes can sometimes end up being really beautiful. But. Just in case that's a bit hard for you. The mistake part I mean. They have wine, beer, and bourbon to let that inhibition go. For me, the class was this odd pairing of creativity and structure. In that, your class is moved at a pace through various steps to produce a portrait in a set amount of time. For me, structure and creativity can seem like such an oxymoron. But that really embodies my personal struggle of having the tendency to linear, analytical thinking and perfectionism and yet possessing an outrageously, fearless, unruly, and rebellious creative side that is a great source of anxiety for my Virgo perfectionist part of me. So back to the class. After a visit to the bar. I walked to my canvas all set up. And waited. I reviewed my tools. Two paintbrushes. One with a fat brush. One slim a brush. Two paper plates. One with the pallet of paints specifically set for the project that night. One clean paper plate to mix colors. A red plastic cup of water. And paper towels. When our instructor, started the class she reminded me of being in a spin class (complete with headset mic) with her pumped up excitement to motivate and teach us to produce a painting she had already done. But this was better because there was wine and no bikes. She addressed all of our potential leanings toward negativity and personal criticism in the process and humorously warned us by way of making a drinking game out of it. And so we began. The first instructions were given and I took a deep breath, a big gulp of wine, and told myself, "This is art. Not calculus. There is no right and wrong." and mixed my paint as instructed. During these intervals of painting time, music played. I Painted the first thing we were told. No problem. Mixed the next set of paints. Took another gulp of wine and painted the next step. And that's where structure started to impede on my sense of free spirit as we were instructed to go to the next step. And I had yet finished. I wasn't alone though. And that's where the process started to show it's value and exposed my analytical side for my painting started to resemble a colorful Mexican blanket due to it's linear appearance instead of the beautifully blended colors that our instructor created. Deep breath. Remember why you're here! Oh yeah. The wine! Another visit to the bar. This struggle continued throughout the evening as instructing staff walked around offering extra help and encouragement. But I finally rebelled when it came time to paint our mountain. I made mine deliberately different. And trust me it really shows. And the good or bad of that is truly subjective. As I saw the other creations around me I found myself judging my own painting and frustration found me. I was was losing focus and as we finished I was not happy with my painting. However. I want to try again. I want to take another class. And this time try it with one or two people I know and see how that changes the process. I really enjoyed the staff and their enthusiastic encouragement. And frankly, as I sit here, looking at my painting now in the much dimmer lighting of my living room and from much much farther away. I have to admit. For me. This was the best painting on canvas I've ever done. My novice attempts to mimic the techniques Our instructor showed us are there. They need improvement. But they are there. The fact this is truly my first attempt at painting and using painting techniques. I really did do a better job. And like with anything else the more you practice the better you get. And I can't think of a better place to try to improve my painting skills than with the staff at Pinot's Pallet, a big bottle of wine, and a designated driver! And this first painting will always remind me of the day I went to do something I knew I wouldn't do well. And did it anyway. And I'm proud of myself. And that is the purpose of art right? How it makes you feel. (And wine sure doesn't hurt!) read more

Like most adventures it started with a Groupon deal. Lol. Went with my girl friends for a night of painting, wine, and chatting. Loved it so much I brought The BF the next night for a couples painting. This place is so wonderful. The owners are very attuned to their clients needs, very willing to help and to make you comfortable. Drinks at $6 a glass of wine and specialities occasionally. They always have snacks but you can food delivered and eat at breaks too. Plus they do a wine down Wednesday....gonna have to try that out. You leave with new friends, great memories, art, and a desire to return. I enjoy going to these types of places, but sadly I didn't have the best experience this time around. They class was for a painting of a contest winners photo of a Kentucky road at fall. They began the class almost a half hour late though, then rushed to get done at the same time. The instructor acted like she had never painted the picture before, stating things like "let's try mixing these colors and see if that gets us what we need". Then when walking around the room she made comments to my sister and I who were painting stating we seemed like those "type A perfectionists", and we needed to let go. Although we had fun, it seemed rushed, and we felt a bit attacked by the teacher. We may go back, but there would have to be a different teacher and we'd definitely expect it to start on time. read more

This was my first time doing a paint and sip event. While this is a chain it was done very personally. We stared off by getting into the class the hour before it started by going online and reserving two seats. We got there a little early to find out seats and get some drinks. The staff was excellent. They were fun and friendly and were very good artist and knew how to be relaxed and also give good advice. The drinks were $6 each but were large pours so worth the money in my opinion. I have never painted in my life and it actually came out okay and I was very impressed. They have various theme nights and date nights that would be awesome I think but I have not done them. SO. MUCH. FUN! My friend and I went on Harry Potter night, and that was the best decision! They served up their concoction of butter beer-- so delicious! And our portraits were a shot of Hogwarts at night. Such a cool painting that I was really excited about doing! I'm a huge arts and crafty person, and I paint on my own often, but this experience was well worth the money and time. I learned a few tips and tricks that I can now include when I'm painting on my own. Our teacher was extraordinary-- super friendly, fun, and made the experience whimsical and comfortable. Plus, her accompanying employees were awesome, as well. They also played some BOMB music during the night (which I'm a music connoisseur so this was bonus points!) The bartender guy did seem super annoyed to be there, but I don't judge people; maybe he was having a bad day. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for an opportunity to paint and have a good time :) read more

I came to a $10 limitless mimosa painting. It was a great deal. I really liked the painting that I had chosen. The instructions were simple to begin with and creativity was encouraged. I liked that I could serve myself with the paint and choose more colors than what was given to me. There were a few times when people got confused, but there was an assistant that came around and could help. About halfway through the process, the instructor began speeding up and tried to push people along. By the end, most people were behind. I didn't get to finish my painting all the way and I notice things that I didn't get to as I look at it on my wall. I wish there were a catch up day so I could go in and just finish it. As it is, I need to go buy supplies to finish my painting so it doesn't drive me nuts. read more
