I like the office because it is close to my house and Dr. Doshi is awesome! He saw me when I was in the hospital for heart failure and checked on me every day! Every time I have a concern he addresses it and sets a plan to see how we can go about correcting it if need be! Sometimes the waiting room can get crowded and there can be long wait times but other then that, not too shabby :) read more

The doctor was very good but the online new patient form was a waste of time. I spent 30 minutes online filling it out and getting confirmation that all was in order. When I arrived, I was told that I could not fill out that form online and they had nothing. I suggest you ignore their pleas to fill out the paperwork online and just get there 30 minutes early. read more

I used to be fairly happy with this office and their staff (on Baseline in Tempe). But, a little while back they arranged sleep apnea testing. It went fine. But then when they referred me to a company that was going to supply the sleep machine to treat it, found out they don't take my insurance. Pioneer Cardiology has yet to refer me to someone who does accept it, in spite of repeated calls to them. I'm flabbergasted. read more

This practice has bad billing practices. I was seen at Mercy Gilbert hospital and was inpatient. They charged my insurance for an out patient new patient office visit. When i brought this to their attention I was told that is how they bill and there is nothing they could do about it. The biller Jill didn't even know the difference between a cpt code and a diagnosis code. I wouldn't trust them to charge me or my insurance the right amount. I will not be paying the amount they charged and will be reporting them to my insurance for non compliance with the insurance payer rules. read more

Precisely unacceptable and dangerous. My sister was under the care of Dr. Rajiv Ashar, and what we experienced was outright medical negligence. She had been seriously ill, suffering from chest pain, shortness of breath, and vomiting for weeks. Dr. Ashar ran an EKG and brushed it off as "normal." He claimed a STAT CT scan would be ordered. STAT, meaning urgent, as any competent physician should know that many life threatening conditions can't be ruled out by EKG alone, especially in "black women". Yet over 24 hours passed with no call from imaging. We followed up, only to find out no referral had even been sent. It's now been nine days. Still no imaging. No diagnosis. No treatment. This failure forced my sister into the ER. Let me be crystal clear: this kind of neglect can kill someone.The doctor's inaction and the utter incompetence of the referral staff created a perfect storm of failure. If you value your life or your family's, stay far away from this practice. This isn't just poor care. This is the kind of mistake that leads to lawsuits and lives lost. You've been warned. read more

I had a horrible experience with these people. When you look the Chandler office up on Google maps, it takes you to the wrong address making you late for your appointment, and even though the doctors can regularly be late, if you are late for your appointment they cancel your appointment. I was very upset by this and went to the Tempe office to get my records. They tried to charge me $25.00 for my records. The Chandler office is in a building with the name Advanced Internal Medicine. There is a small sandwich by the door that says Pioneer Cardiovascular. The sign is hard to see when cars are parked if front. I was given a printout of what the doctor had discussed with me even though I did not see him! Very unprofessional office. read more

STAY OFF THIS joke of an OFFICE! Dangerously disorganize office. My info was sent to another patient and I have received someone else's files - twice. I will report them to board for HIPAA violations. Also, I was charged unfairly for something that I had no control over last year. Office manager (?) RUDELY ignored my calls until I went there in person and she aggressively declined their mistake. Their office is so confused, rude with aggressive crew. I hope one of the doctors read these comments and not ignore them for the sake of their business and reputation. Will find a much more reliable and professional office soon. read more

Once you get past the solicited reviews, you get to some genuine ones like mine. The office is a mess! It has a small, uncomfortable waiting room with a funky, musty smell coming from the old A/C system. There is a surchage for credit card payments which I've never seen applied at any other doctor's office. The doctors are allowed to cancel appointments at the last minute but patients are penalized for no-shows regardless of the legitimacy of the reason. The ultrasound tech, who was gruff looking and acting, talked loudly to her co-worker during my procedure about personal matters while sitting just one foot from my face! It was the only uncomfortable echocardiogram I have ever had out of 9 or 10 in my life. And if you dare to complain about anything, you will be met with a suggestion that you find another practice! The staff can act any way they want but the patients are held to a much higher standard. That's typical in Arizona where doctors often hire anyone with a pulse because of the shortage of workers. read more

My husband and I both see Dr. Daval Shah, I for Atrial Fibrillation and venous insufficiency, spouse for high blood pressure. Dr. D. is kind and he listens. The staff are just fine. I am really surprised by the number of poor reviews. Neither I or my husband have ever had problems. read more

I had to cancel a test and had to leave a message because nobody picked up. According to fine print in the consent, I had to talk to a live person. The first time I spoke to them about this, this was not mentioned. I'd like to give this place a 5 star, but not yet. I've been dealing with them over the past 3 days and so far not too bad. I've spoken to Andrea a couple times over the phone and she is very nice. Lisa is not quite so nice, but that might be her demeanor as she was similar today in person. I don't know the name of the woman that checked me in, but she was very personable and nice. Horacio Isaac took my vitals and he's very nice. The decor didn't look as nice as Cedars, but that's fine. I'm not coming for the decor. NE room that I was in was a bit warm, but they had a floor fan, so that's alright. I was very elated to see Dr. Shah and he was happy to see me. He wanted to hug me, but with this social distancing, we just fist pumped. I was just establishing myself as a New Patient at this place, but Dr. Shah already knew my history and there wasn't that much that changed since the last time I saw him. He filled me in on why he couldn't tell me at our last appointment he was leaving due to the terms of his employment there. I understood. I shared with him what had transpired between CHC and me over the past month and how I found out where he was - Googling him. When I find someone that I can work with who will work with me, I stick with them, even if it means changing some things - if it's reasonable. If he moved out of state, that would be different. What I like best about Dr. Shah is that HE CARES. I've met quite a few cardiologists over my time period of needing a cardiologist since 2003 and he and my original cardiologist (retired) were super caring. Most are very egotistical, thinking they are gods. I don't do well with that because there is only one God and well, he's not a cardiologist, well, so to speak. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Shah - he saved my life last 9/15/2020. My husband, kids and I are forever grateful. Dr. Shah identified that my stressed out way of living and seeing life was one of the biggest factors, other than genetics (can't control this). So I'm in the process of changing my intense Type A personality to one that will have a long, healthy life. Doctors that care are few and far between. I've been blessed to have a primary care doctor, cardiologist, chiropractor, optometrist, dentist that care for their patients. That makes all the difference in the world. Pioneer is more connected to the Banner system, so that makes sharing data easier. The only reasons why I gave this place a 4 star was Lisa's demeanor and the wait time to see Dr. Shah was kind of long. I got there 10 minutes early and It was about 40-45 minutes before I actually got to see Dr. Shah. Wait time wasn't great. read more

Being 69 I thought it would be wise for a heart checkup. I went in to Pioneer and had an EKG done. The doctor checked it and said something was "off" and I needed an echo and nuclear stress test. He said to make my appointments on the way out. I tried to schedule the tests but the gal said that they needed insurance approval and find out what my copays were. About 10 days later she called and we made the appointments. I guess I felt better that it must not have been any kind of emergency. Anyway I ended up in their office 4 times and each time paid my copay. About a month later I received a bill from Pioneer--which made no sense. Pioneer knew the insurance coverage ahead of time, knew what my copays were. How I could owe anything more. I didn't understand so I called the office. No answer so I left a message. No return call and I forgot about it. Fast forward--I have a routine checkup with them tomorrow but I received a call on my recorder Friday before that they won't see me because I have an outstanding balance. So I called, explaining what's up, and her response was that she will cancel all my future appointments. Fine with me. I never did find out what was "off" on my EKG which of course makes me wonder if I really needed those expensive tests. Anyway, in my 4 trips to their office I found the staff very nice(except the one today). Bottom line, to me, is that the staff was great so if you go get your costs in writing prior to service or you might be in for a surprise. read more

I would not recommend this cardiology practice. I recently had a stress test scheduled on a Monday and got the stomach flu on Saturday. A stress test requires physical activity for about 20 minutes. I hadn't eaten in two days and was unable to keep any liquids down. I tried to cancel and reschedule on Sunday but got a message. I called first thing Monday morning to cancel the test and reschedule and still got a message. So I left a message and asked they call me back. No return call. A week later I got a bill in the mail for a $75 no show fee for the test. I called again and explained I had gotten sick on Saturday and would not be able to walk/run on a treadmill for 20 minutes. I spoke to two people on the phone and kept getting told "it's policy that we require a 24 hour business day notice. I told them I didn't know I was going to get the flu on Saturday only to hear, "It's policy." Two weeks ago I got an echocardiogram. The tech called me back and spoke, literately, about 3 sentences the whole time I was there. I've had these tests for most of my life, but for people who are new to an echocardiogram, may benefit from a little explanation of what the test is, what it's looking at and that the tech cannot interpret the results. When the test was over, she left the room and didn't even say goodbye. Common courtesy is lacking. I've been a patient for about 9 months here and have seen a doctor only one time. Their NP, Pauline, is very nice and seems very knowledgeable, but it would be nice to see an actual cardiologist. Now that my last cardiologist is in my insurance network again, I'll be going back to him. read more

Dr. Shaw is fantastic. Last October, I went in for some chest issues. He recommended a nuclear exam and it came back abnormal. We scheduled what was maybe going to be a stent procedure and after gong in there found out that I had 100% blockage in both my left and right. Prior to that procedure, I had asked one of my buddies who heads up heart and lung anesthesiology down at Tucson Medical who he recommended for Cardiologist and Thoracic surgeon. He said common consensus of other docs in valley was that Dr. Stein was best surgeon, Dr. Shaw was who they would go to for a cardiologist and Banner heart hospital was where to go to for surgery. They all saved my life and provided incredible care pre surgery and after surgery. if you need a cardiologist, I would highly recommend Sr. Shaw. He is very personable and fantastic at what he does. read more

I called Pioneer Cardio Monday after experiencing chest pains over the wknd that were progressively getting worse. Already had a slew of the normal heart test done after spending hours and thousands of $$$ in the ER. I know all they would tel me would be to see a specialist. Pioneer Cardio was able to squeeze me in for today, to see Dr. Shaw, I took off work early, using PTO time and attempted to arrive at my appt. I would've been on time had I not received the wrong address from the person who made my appt. I called up to let them know I had an appt because of chest pains and was lost. At that time I was 10 minutes early. The receptionist at the Tempe office gave me another address saying it was near the gas station..."Which gas station?", I asked."I don't know" she answered. Then why even mention it! Never mind the fact that I'm coming because of chest pains so why not add more stress to the pot! I finally called again after driving around for 15 or more minutes, only to be told that Dr. Shaw left for an emergency. Guess my health wasn't emergency enough for them to at least let someone see me. I think I dodged the bullet with this place! read more

Not impressed with Dr. Shaw , not one bit ! My husband had a new ICD implant replaced on the 28th of Sept. 2017, then went 5 days later for a follow up. When he arrived he told him he needed the incision looked at, and also the puss pockets that had formed, Dr. Shah didn't even look over the incision, or remove the bandages, much less look at the puss pockets, he said to let them burst on their own, and walked out of the office! read more

Banner staff said that is who they would bring their family members and recommend him as their cardio physician. Husband also a patient for several years and is now in excellent health. Now my turn. i was called back for a follow up appointment and i arrived and they said your co-pay was $236.00 i said not going to pay that and walked out...i just got in the mail an "a fail to show for the appointment" and being charged $75....i called them and they said yes..you showed up ...but we are still charging you.....bad doctor.....i am filing charges with the ama and the ftc....the office are violating conduct and malpractice.... do not use....****** read more
