My partner used other busses as well for day to day errands. We've seen everything on our bus commutes, from screaming mental health cases to drug addicts yelling while pounding their fists on their own skulls, to nonstop to outright bloody fistfight brawls right in the front area of the bus. Most of the passengers are perfectly well behaved but there was at least one troubling situation, if not 2 or 3, daily on these bus rides. Every politician who's running for office should endure a few months taking the bus back and forth across town if they are ever sincerely interested in what's going on in the cities that they want to help. They'd be happy to close the borders promptly and take care of the people who are already here needing help. Seniors, veterans and a gigantic mentally heath and drug addiction crisis. The bus drivers all deserve awards for the service and courage it takes to drive a city bus. Day or night. I mainly can vouch for a soft spoken but assertive older lady w short dark or silver hair, who drives the 15 bus in the morning commute hours, she is a superhero, even stopping the bus one time to ask me if I was okay as it was an extreme bad air, wild fire smoke day and I must've looked extra alarming walking along w my walking stick, she let me know she could call for help if I needed it. I assured her I was totally okay but I was dumbstruck by the kindness and mental strength of her as well as many, many of the other busdrivers I've encountered off and on through the years in Portland, especially tho these last few months. We are soooo gratefull for the Trimet busses! Keep up the good work!

You can take the streetcar to get to the stop, cross the street, then hop on the tram (roundtrip). It was about $8 roundtrip for adults. You arrive at the top at Oregon Health Sciences University hospital. And it IS an actual hospital! We walked around a bit and headed back. The views are worth it.

We bought the tickets and boarded the car from upper level, entrance right next to OHSU Hospital. Ticket prices were $9 for round trip. The tram was really popular for locals, especially for the employees working at the hospital. The upper terminal had multiple lookout spots to see the city skyline and also up close watching the tram heading to the lower terminal. As we started heading down the hill, we saw stunning view of the city's greenery, houses, buildings and Willamette river. In the horizon, we could also see the snowy Mount Hood. The ride was about 5 minutes. At lower level, everyone had to exit the lower level terminal. Then we used our round trip ticket to enter the terminal again and board the same car. At the lower terminal, there was a huge parking stand for bicycles. Trip from lower to upper terminal was little longer, took about 8-9 minutes. Being a sunny bright day, we absolutely loved the short round trip for such a decent price.

Each station has a ticket machine, which were all down for some reason the weekend we were there, but you can always tap to pay with your phone when you get on. It's an honor system. We tried our best to abide by the rules, but as with most of these kind of public transit, a lot of people don't unfortunately. According to their system map, they have three different lines. Two lines cross the river to the East side of Portland while the other goes from North to South of Portland. The ride was like $2 valid for 2.5 hours.

Lucked out with same day door to door service - We've been able to call on these guys a couple of…read moretimes in a hurry and pinch with very fast response and flexibility. Sometimes emergencies or rush situations happen and scheduling medical transport with wheelchair capability can be a serious hassle since most transport requires advanced scheduling and planning. COMPARISONS - Sadly many insurance don't cover non-emergency medical transport. Getting old isn't cheap and medical transport isn't either, compared to other similar services ANEMT rates are average to a little better. MetroWest transport is the most popular and great, but they are constantly booked at least 1-2 days out or 5-10 hours for same day. MetroWest also has stair capable wheelchairs and stretchers by request and door to door service. TriMet offers basic medical transport for fairly cheap via shuttle, but they don't offer door to door so you'll need someone to push if the chair isn't motorized and electric. Uber and Lyft have wheelchair capable vehicles, but again, no door to door service and requires advanced scheduling. Interestingly Kaiser Washington State insurance covers non-emergency transport, but not in Oregon. Above and beyond - Along with being able to respond quickly with door to door service, they helped with transferring inside the home to and from the wheelchair. Aways super nice and friendly guys. Easy pay via credit card through a tex message link or over the phone. Have questions, be sure to ask, they are very helpful and accommodating. Good service, responsive, fast and better pricing than most. Thanks for taking good care of our family.

I'm a fan of this particular spot because it is my station. It is this little piece of Portland…read morethat I venture to every week day morning. Making my way down Burnside rain or dry darkness (I go to my office quite early) it is this station that I await my chariot, or rather streetcar. It seems to always be neat and in good order, plus that little running sign that give out semi-accurate information has yet to be completely wrong! I tend to find myself among a host of unique and interesting humans. Some venturing to work like myself, some I think just venturing home from the night before, others not venturing much at all but rather just enjoying our little stations hospitality. There is also a doughnut shop in the parking lot adjacent to the stop, greeting us all with the aroma of fresh and I'm sure delicious pastries. We have a little covered area to gather under on particularly wet days; those are the morning that we all get to know each other a bit more (one of us doesn't brush regularly and another wears too much cologne, but they shall remain private to retain the integrity of our little station's group). What makes things extra exciting is the 6, yes the 6! It too stops at our station providing just a little extra entertainment just before our CL arrives. If you haven't caught a ride here yet, be sure to do soon before the word gets out just how great 2167 is!!

By the middle of the 1970s, Downtown Portland was dying and not expected to survive. It was the…read moreera of the great migration to the suburbs, and many of the downtown department stores had already moved to the malls. Nordstrom had plans in place to move out of downtown permanently and it would have surprised no one had Meier & Frank followed suit. Like my dad used to say, one could have fired a cannon down the middle of Broadway and not hit a living soul. Downtown workers fled by 5 pm and never stayed late because the area was pretty much "owned" at night by a dangerous element. On the weekends, everybody shopped at the malls and never came down just to hang out and enjoy. All in all, a very bleak outlook for our patient, Portland. The Portland Transit Mall pretty much saved Portland from going the way of so many other cities at the time - a long slow death march into urban hell. Nordstrom also agreed to build their flagship store in downtown Portland at this time. All of this revitalized Portland and has helped bring it to a place of prominence nationally that most Portlanders knew it deserved (there was a time that only San Francisco and Seattle were ever mentioned in the national media; Portland was considered the quaint country cousin). Sorry for the history lesson from this long-time Portland citizen, but I think it's interesting to compare and contrast and see how Portland has become a leader in transportation options. Considering it's a government-backed project, the Portland Transit Mall surprisingly came together in the mid-1970s without too much controversy and has continued to serve so many of us via bus, street car, and MAX in the tri-country area pretty efficiently and with some great updates over the years. Considering how large the system has become, there's so much that could go wrong (which on occasion it does), but there's so much more that goes right and attracts visitors and dollars to our fair city. If you're going across town by MAX or bus, you'll likely end up stopping at or traveling through Rose Quarter TC. My commute brings me to this hub of transportation twice a day. I often wonder how many bikes, trains and buses cruise through the place on a daily basis. The buses and the trains don't easily mesh their schedules, but I've pretty much got it wired at this point. Yeah, sometimes there's a bit of a wait for a bus, and they aren't always on time, but it still beats the heck out of driving. This stop is reasonably safe and there's usually transit cops patrolling the general vicinity. We're really lucky to have such reliable and relatively clean public transportation.
