Absolutely disgusting watching Bus 3747 go through a stopwalk at a hospital when there were people attempting to cross, all because the lazy sack didn't want to wait 30 seconds more. Call the whambulance for the loser bus driver -- dude should be fired. There was literally a person in the middle of walking, and they had to stop and wait for the 10-tonne bus to not turn them into a puddle of human absolute filth. Bus 3747 at 12:00, delivering line number 20 -- y'all should be disgraced. I get Oregon ranks 46th in education, so some of y'all are a bit on the low end of the intelligence pool, but hiring a driver like that shows a level of incompetence that's dangerous. Riding TriMet downtown was a breeze. I was going to the Portland Art Museum and didn't feel like playing the parking space game. Both of my bus stops were clean and safe... no questionable potential riders mulling around either of them. I guess it depends on where you are going. I was on Bus 35 Early afternoon there weren't too many riders and not too many stops. Since the bus is high, I could get a good view of the Willamette River. I decided to take the 4:10pm bus back home before rush hour. The bus had some commuters but there were still many open seats. Traffic was already heavy, but Bus 35 took a few Bus Only Routes, bypassing some of the traffic. The Sellwood Bridge was backed up, as expected, but I wasn't driving. It was nice to be able to relax and enjoy the view. I highly recommend taking TriMet downtown. read more

For the most part, the driver before the first bus I was waiting for is a good guy, but the bottom driver 3111 do not open the doors for me and just drove off as she looked at me standing in the rain. I catch his bus every morning at the same time she's a different driver. she's more interested what was on her phone and looking at me and opening the door maybe she just didn't see me. Trimet has always being our transportation medium from the airport to our hotel and vise versa. It's way cheaper than Lyft or uber. For only $2.50, you can use this transportation for two hours. The trimet is always clean and in all honesty, very safe. Transit police make sure you are safe and protected. There's also cameras and a lot of people use it. I am grateful that regardless of all the community changes in Portland, I can still trust Trimet for my transportation needs. read more

So disappointed! I love visiting Portland and one of the reasons, apart from the great food, is because it is fairly easy and safe to get around the city using the street car. Tonight not so much. After having a lovely meal on 23rd we caught the NS line back to downtown. We paid the fair and 2 stops later are told this was the last stop. ??? Not to worry, there was another street car 5 mins behind. Ummmmm nope. The sign at the stop said 16mins. No street car arrived. We ended up walking all the way back to our hotel downtown without another street car passing us. We specifically kept to the street car route in the hopes of catching the next one. Nope! The notice boards said the next street car would be after 8am on Sunday morning. So, we ended up walking through some dodgy areas of the city past homeless, drug addicts and just plain deranged individuals. Not cool trimet, not cool AT ALL!!! read more

I have only used the Max light rail service, but there was never a long wait and it was nice leaving the driving to someone else. It gave me a chance to enjoy the city skyline. I purchased a five dollar all day pass, which is basically the same price as a round trip ticket from anywhere. Scan your card before boarding at any platform. read more

Thank you to #Trimet and the bus driver on the #trimetline29 stop at Roots and Hearthwood today (9/6/24). Not only were you 3 minutes early for the 3:45 scheduled arrival, but you didn't even slow down, much less STOP! In fact, you didn't even LOOK in the direction of the stop. I know this because if you had, you would seem me jumping around and flailing my arms like a fool to get your attention, while you sailed right on past me. No big deal that I just waited for 45 minutes in the 98 degree scorching sun for you. Good thing I'm not an Elderly person or infant because I'd probably be dead from waiting here in this heat with no shade and nowhere to sit! Like me, TriMet is a little dirty, a bit noisy, and around since 1969. Short for Tri-County Metropolitan Transportation District of Oregon Angels of Anaheim, this is a well-maintained and convenient transit system, second only to New York or Paris, in my experience. Sixty miles of track cover 533 square miles of Multnomah, Washington, and Clackamas counties. So, basically if you wanted to go from the airport to the country's only vegan strip club, you would take the red line from the airport (super convenient) to Providence Park, walk a minute to SW Morrison & 17th and hop on the 15 (they run 688 buses too), ride 17 minutes to 35th & Guam, and within a 8 minute walk. You'll need $2.50 for the light rail and bus, plus some ones, of course. I can't say enough good things about the experience, riding from Pioneer Place to and from the airport (even though service was interrupted the weekend I visited Portland; they provided buses in between stations) and to Washington Park. The ticket machines were easy to use, the stations were well-lit, staffed, and clean enough. The color-coded map made it easy to plan trips. I found lots of neat things in the bags of riders who were sleeping. read more

TriMet is Portland's transit system. It consists of buses, the MAX light rail system, and the WES commuter rail. Now, Portland's transit system may not be as high-tech and as fancy as Vancouver's, which has a skytrain (the longest fully automated system in the world -- ooh la la), but unlike Vancouver's transit system, it works. And it's cheap. We were only in Portland for a few days, so we only used transit a handful of times, but we had zero problems, and not once did we wait more than ten minutes for a bus, regardless of time of day, or what day of the week it was. (Vancouver's skytrain, which doesn't run late enough on regular days, arbitrarily starts an hour later and stops an hour earlier on Sundays and holidays, because Translink thinks people don't work or have anywhere to go on Sundays and holidays, and forget trying to catch a bus on Sundays, holidays, or after 9pm without at least a half an hour wait.) In addition to getting where we needed to go and never waiting long for a bus or MAX train, transit fare was cheap. Adult fare was $2.50 a ticket for 2.5 hours, or $5 for a day pass, and no "zones" to deal with or an extra charge if coming from the airport. One affordable fare, simple. (They also have lower fares for low income people.) Perhaps if I lived in Portland, I'd realize that TriMet sucks, but from a tourist's perspective (and as someone who regularly takes transit), it was great. Tri-met is okay, until it isn't. The vast majority of my experiences have been neutral to positive. However, they tend to defend their driver's to the bitter end, meaning the miserable, sadistic drivers who refuse to do their job are kept around indefinitely. Twice, I've had drivers look straight at me waving from the bus stop, only to keep driving. I've seen drivers do this to other people numerous times. I can't count how many times I've missed a bus because they were over 10 min early. Then I'm waiting in the rain for almost an hour because the next bus inevitably comes 10 min late. The ones showing up late usually can't help it, but the ones coming through super early and just rolling through empty stop after empty stop (since nobody expects them at that time) are true lazy scum. You have 1 job: pick people up and drop them off. But, every now and again, you have to rearrange your entire schedule because some lazy driver doesn't want to pick anyone up. They also do nothing about smoking in stops/at the transit center, even though it's outlawed. read more

Keep an eye on your bank statement if you are using Hop Fastpass on your phone. I guarantee you have been charged to your account/debit card as well as having money taken off your Hop Fastpass to pay for your fare(s). So basically you are being overcharged for fares. When I have contacted Trimet about it, I have been denied refunds because they say it's for a service provided. I keep telling them yes, a service provided at the price posted on buses and at ticket machines. I have not gotten my money back as of yet, so I figured at the very least, I'd let others know what Trimet is doing. Hopefully someone sues them for this! read more

Visiting from San Francisco and making it a point to ride the local transit, I was so happy we did. Typically you feel like transit just takes you from point A to point B and while Trimet does that I felt like they really cared about getting people around. A few years later and they are at it again. The last time I wrote a review, I was still working at the Amazon warehouse down in Troutdale. It's been three years since I last worked there and since January of this year I have been working at the FedEx shipping dock in North Portland. I transfer to bus 6 from C-Tran 60 once I'm across the river from Vancouver and for the past two days, the bus did not come at it's scheduled time. Yesterday after waiting 15 minutes, I gave up and walked all the way to Delta Park to get on C-Tran 60 to get home from work. That has happened occasionally a few times this year up until now, I did not have to do that or even consider doing it two days in a row. Today, I waited a half hour for the bus to arrive in the rain waiting to go home after getting off work. After about 15 minutes I started getting real pissed and began cussing up a storm. I am not a very patient person. Trimet better not be doing the same kind of bullshit C-Tran is doing on the other side of the river. It's already bad enough that I have to go through all this bullshit with C-Tran on almost a daily basis. This better not become the norm for Trimet. If I could afford a car, I wouldn't give neither C-Tran or Trimet any service whatsoever. This is unacceptable read more

I understand the current driver crisis caused by Covid, but tri met is steadily on the decline. The drivers that are working are inconsiderate a*^holes. Twice recently I've literally crossed the tracks in front of an arriving max (by bus connections at park and rides/transit centers) in an attempt to board, only to have the driver leave without allowing me to get on the train. In one of these instances I was trying to get to Qatama, tge next two trains only went as far as Willow creek--why two trains in a row???- so my options were to wait 45 minutes to get one additional stop or take a $13 Lyft ride. If your connections are late for any reason you're screwed bc no routes are running "regular" frequency. read more

Came back from work at around 10:00pm to find car had been broken into, vehicle video camera stolen, change stolen, and everything else scattered around. THE SCARY THING WAS A 6" KNIFE IN THE PASSENGER SEAT THAT DID NOT BELONG TO ME! What if I had walked up while they were going through my car. Would I have been stabbed to death? I've visited and lived in Portland on and off for the past eight years and I've noticed that Trimet has gone downhill over that time period. Last term I got a Trimet pass to take the bus to class since there's a bus line right by house that takes me directly downtown. In the two months I used the pass, I experienced the following: -Tweakers freaking out and screaming obscenities (a near daily occurrence on the MAX.) -Body odor that I couldn't believe be produced by another human being. -Rude operators that snap at me for minor infractions (no eating, for example, or telling me to "be careful about my drink." I'm not a child, I can hold a beverage and not spill it.) -A disgruntled man yelling in my face for my foot sticking out a tiny bit (I'm 6'4 and the seats are crammed so close together, I can't physically help it.) A simple "excuse me" would have sufficed, though it was so minor that he could have just brushed by with no problem. -Buses not running on time. Not just once or twice a week, but daily. This isn't acceptable if you have a job or classes that require you arrive on time. Don't get me wrong, I know that public transportation isn't supposed to be nice. I've spent a fair share of time in NYC and LA (lived in both) and have taken transit in most large cities in between. With those systems, sure, it's rough and you won't get along with everybody, but at least they work. Trimet doesn't work, it's a living nightmare on wheels. I ended up finishing out the last month of my term by driving and now cough up the extra money for a parking pass.
