Their untrained assessment of the fact that I had "slurred speech and other signs of apparent intoxication," which are similar to someone who just got hit in the head by another vehicle, they chose not to take me to the hospital for medical assistance, and instead chose to get bloodwork done and transferred me to jail. The jail nurse assessed me for a concussion, and I was treated properly by the Alameda Sheriff's. What a bunch of imbeciles. Furthermore, the DA has refused to file criminal charges, despite having tried to charge me with a felony. A vehicle hit me, but they chose to transport 2 people in the other vehicle that t boned me for minor injuries, yet I was transported to jail to get proper medical care by the jail staff nurses. This is ridiculous. Newark PD needs better officer training. Beyond ridiculous that they made me do a bunch of checks after being hit by a car and in their right mind thought I was drunk. The staff also refused to release my collision report to my insurance company, and when I spoke to my lawyer, they said it is not true that they can't release the collision report and diagram to me. So, I have no idea what they are talking about. Also, your officers need to stop flirting and doing PDA in the library parking lot. We see your unprofessional behavior.

If you're not over 40, we didn't go there at the same time. lol I have fond memories of fremont from my youth, that include The Fremont Hub, NewPark mall, and a lot more...but it's very different today. I've noticed it's become less diverse and a lot different. Still a cool place to visit, not the hub of entertainment, but safe and quiet for the most part. The city leadership and mayors have been awful for years and thanks to these losers, Fremont has nothing to offer. Restaurants suck, there's absolutely NO shopping for clothing (unless you like misfit crap from Ross or Marshall's), and no activities for families. The city is dirty, has overgrown weeds everywhere, and don't even get me started on that eyesore off of 680 by Auto Mall Parkway. What is that abandoned mess all about?? Why are there all these green lanes for the 2 bike riders in Fremont?? And what's with the no-right-turn curbs everywhere??! it's claustrophobic and unsafe...you can't get out of the way for emergency vehicles! I've lived here long enough to know nothing will change because the leadership doesn't care. As long as they don't have to look at it from their mansions and they are getting paid, nothing to see here!

Not to mention their teens and children's areas that are perfect for all age groups. The library especially is spacious and virtually meant for young children who want to roam around. Also for all the comic book lovers and enthusiasts, this library provides an enormous collection of comics with the likes of Garfield and Spider-Man from Marvel. What if you want to just borrow a movie to watch? Well, this library has a gigantic section full of movies! With fan-favorites such as the Tatanic and The Mask of Zorro to Batman Begins and Mary Poppins, this place has it all! All in all, it was a good visit and I enjoyed hanging out and relaxing with a book in one of the comfortable lounging chairs and also walking around to see what all this library has to offer. Check out my pictures to see how this library covers everybody for most everything you'd look for in a library, nice!

Adj: Fancier library that's Family-friendly and Fun…read more Continuing on our quest to visit as many libraries as we can when taking little trips throughout CA (or anywhere), let's visit the Newark Library! Located not far from the border of Newark and Fremont, just southwest of 880 & Hwy 84, this library is centrally located for those living in this part of South Bay. It's right next to the City Hall and Police HQ of Newark, so it's one of several important civic buildings in the little city. The building itself looked impressive and quite new. I forgot to look at when it was built, but according to the City of Newark's website, "On August 8, 2019, the City of Newark held the groundbreaking and dedication ceremony for the new Civic Center Plaza, home to the David W. Smith City Hall, the Alan L. Nagy Library, and a new Police Station." It was then built and dedicated in May 2022. So the library is only about 4 years old even though two other libraries preceded this new one. We came on a Sunday afternoon and was glad that we've discovered another library that's open on Sundays! First, we checked out the downstairs which is consists of the lobby area with friends of the library books on sale (all the time it seems), several bathrooms, an information desk with librarians on duty, and the children's section towards the back. Then we went upstairs and checked out the rest of the library. At the upper landing, there's some hang out lounge and reading chairs that swivel, then there's the teen room on one side behind the glass doors and the Curiosity Shop opposite the teen place. Then there's a whole floor on book stacks for adults and against one side of this floor are floor to ceiling windows with a long row of narrow tables and chairs for reading and working on. They were fully occupied so apparently lots of locals like to read and work here on a Sunday afternoon. On the other side of the second floor is a little toddler/younger kids play area that looks to be very calm and chill, but colorful with lots of padded seating and furniture for littles. I didn't go into this area since I don't have tiny tots anymore, but it sure looked like a great place for little ones to crawl around and play in a safe and separated space. Overall, this is another example of a nicely built and thoughtfully designed library in the bay area that's architecturally impressive and aesthetically pleasing, with so much to offer the community, encouraging educational endeavors and championing literacy and the love of learning through reading for the youngest to the most experienced amongst us.

Our conversation kept me distracted and his words of wisdom still resonate with me. They even had the foresight to have my husband remove my jewelry in case surgery was required, which it was. I wish I had asked for individual names so I could thank each fireman/woman personally. Once I'm able to get around, I plan to stop in for a visit. The employee who was distributing ticket numbers at the front desk was unfortunately very rude and dismissive toward us and several other visitors. When we approached the appointment line, she did not acknowledge us. When security informed her that we were present for our scheduled appointment on time, she told the security officer to "zip it" and continued to ignore us. When she refused to issue our appointment ticket, I politely asked what the process would be to schedule another appointment. At that point, she told us that we were "annoying" and asked us to get out of her face. The security officer, who had witnessed the interaction, kindly allowed us to enter the shorter indoor line because she felt we had been treated unfairly. When we eventually reached the same employee again to obtain our ticket, she spent several minutes berading us insisting that we did not have the required documents and repeatedly told us to go home and return another day. I explained that I had spoken with a DMV representative on the phone beforehand and was told that all documentation was already on file and that we only needed to bring our ID. Despite this explanation, she continued to dismiss us and used disrespectful language toward us. After several minutes of dismissing us and telling us that we were wasting our time and hers, she finally issued our ticket. When we were called to the service counter, the DMV representative simply checked our ID and informed us that our driver's license would arrive in a few weeks. The process itself was straightforward once we reached the counter. I would like to note that the security officer and the DMV representative who assisted us were both polite, helpful, and professional, and we truly appreciated their assistance. Unfortunately, the initial interaction at the front desk delayed our visit significantly and created a very negative experience. I respectfully ask that management review this situation. The individual responsible for greeting customers and distributing tickets is often the first point of contact for visitors, and it is important that this role be handled by someone who treats the public with professionalism, respect, and courtesy. We understand that the DMV can be a busy and stressful environment, but visitors also take time out of their day to attend their appointments. We hope that in the future this position can be staffed by someone who is knowledgeable and courteous to the public.
