My company uses Piper's in The Park to cater lunch events every once in a while and I remember always asking where the food was from because it was so good. The wraps are very tasty; the sauces are delicious and ingredients are fresh and of high quality. The turkey wraps seem to have a better meat to greens ratio than the chicken wraps. They state that they only use the best ingredients and I believe it. My experience has mainly been with the wraps but they go beyond the average deli to offer a unique variety of menu options. We have order a large amount of food for our staff on a few occasions during the pandemic. If you order dessert, bring your posse - the portions of peanut butter pie, for example, are enough for 3-4 people if you've just eaten lunch. I had the pleasure of dining at Piper's for lunch yesterday. I had the Rubin. The Rubin had corned beef, swiss cheese, Dijon Mustard, and was on marble bread. It also came with a side of potato salad. I also got a peanut butter cookie as a treat. The cookie first off was warm still like it had just been taken out of the oven, yummy! The corned beef was cooked perfectly, they even warmed it up for me on the grill so the cheese was melted! The Country Potato Salad was more of a German Potato Salad than anything else, but generous pieces of potato, and it was served in a really big bowl for a side. Whole meal cost around 10$ which was fine for lunch thats what i typically pay in this area. I really liked the vibe of the place more than anything. They really seemed to care about dogs, and the environment as everything seemed eco friendly. They have dog art all over the wall. So all in all this was okay! I really will probably come back! Yummy!!! Tried piper's for the first time today and I am impressed. I will definitely return...with coworkers! I like the order online option, though I haven't tried it yet. The Rocket BLT was delish and hearty. The potato salad was pretty good. Dijonaise I think. Not sweet, which is how I prefer it. They are very friendly...and crowded. I managed to squeak in just before noon and was able to order and leave with my to-go food in under 15 minutes. As I was leaving I noticed the line was long. But there were still open seats. Piper's in the Park serves up some excellent sandwiches! I have had their Turkey Sando and their "Rascal's Rueben". The Turkey sandwich is basically like a homemade turkey sandwich after Thanksgiving. You know, real meaty chunks of turkey, not that turkey-loaf junk or thin-sliced turkey that others use. The Rueben was made with corned beef, and had coleslaw on it in lieu of the traditional sauerkraut. I kind of missed the sauerkraut, but it was still very delicious. The melted swiss cheese and seasoned corned beef was mouthwateringly delectable! You get to choose from a variety of homemade sides, and I had a side of potato salad. It was quite tasty too. I look forward to trying some of their other offerings. It's a fantastic lunch! Stop by and try it and I do not think you will leave disappointed. Bonus Material: If you are a dog lover, they have paintings all around the seating area of various breeds of dogs. Well the place is somewhat unusual with old doors made into tables and cut in half for bench seats. It seems pretty cool until you sit for 15 minutes waiting for them to call your name so you can pick up your food. This is way too much time to make a Rueben Sandwich during lunch. I was expecting something fairly grand for laying out close to a sawbuck (10$) for a sandwich and a drink. At first viewing of my meal my heart sank with disappointment. I thought they had forgotten the sandwich, but I just couldn't see it hiding under a bag of chips....and no pickle. I lifted the toasted bread to inspect all the goodies and stuff. Hmmm, where are the goodies? I didn't see any sundried tomatoes like the sign said, and where is the melted Swiss cheese? Well I found a thin layer of Swiss but alas no tomatoes. Where's the beef, the mountain of corn beef? The corn beef was spread so thin there were patches of only slaw. Now on to the tasting. I have to admit that first bite tasted pretty good. The slaw had a tangy dressing and the toasted bread had a butter taste. However, I didn't want a toasted slaw sandwich. About half way through I noticed the oil or butter on the toast seemed to be getting stronger and overpowering. With a few bites left of slaw and toast and with no chance of tasting corn beef, I tossed it in the trash and left. I have eaten in many delis and have even worked in a deli. Had lunch here with my boss...very delicious! I tried the turkey BLT. I thought it was a pretty generous serving, as I probably could have stopped at just half a sandwich (but, of course, the glutton in me continued). With a bag of Miss Vickie's sea salt kettle chips & a soda, it was under $10. The bread was a little too buttered for my liking, but the chipotle mayonnaise really added a lot of flavor! My boss had a spinach salad and liked it...though it was really heavy on the Parmesan cheese shavings. It was fairly empty for lunch. They have a wide offering of sandwiches, salads & soups. Given that I've never been a Nosh fan, I was really surprised that I pretty much loved Piper's in the Park (the two have the same ownership). The menu was creative and well-presented. The space is cozy in the typical RTP-open-for-15-hours-a-week-but-do-mad-business-then kind of way. My main complaint--like with a lot of similar places around RT--is that the hours are so limited (something like 11am-2:30pm on weekdays). I guess those hours suit the location (it is in a shopping center full of little cafes and restaurants). I resisted trying the pimento cheese sandwich (which actually did take a surprising amount of effort) and instead got a half sandwich-half salad. I opted for their walnut chicken salad, which was quite good and a side spinach salad. The side salad alone was HUGE. It was full of a lot of hard boiled egg, croutons, onions, and all sorts of other things. I also really liked the dressing. Overall, one of the better lunch salad/sandwich combinations I've ever had. A huge plus is that they have online ordering, which worked really well and actually expedited the process (sometimes, I've found that it can take longer to go through the online ordering process than just ordering at the counter and waiting a few minutes). Piper is great. She is usually the one at the register. The food is very fresh and plentiful. I have had the Mallard's Cardinal. It was delicious. My buddy has had the fish burger twice. I will speak for him and say it is great...he can't 'cause his mouth is full with a fish burger. The pasta salad is a great side. I have also had the Fajitas. The beef was tender and the veggies were crisp. In a strip mall that has 6 or 7 sandwich shops, this is the one to beat. Lunch time is usually busy, but the wait is never an issue. I actually feel pretty bad that I'm only just now reviewing Piper's, because I've been going there for over a decade. But, that ends now. If you're anywhere near RTP M-F, early to late lunchtime, and you want a salad, sandwich, or soup, this is your place. The service is great; Piper actually knows me just by the sound of my voice & my order; and the soups-- basically no matter what they are, are amazing. If you haven't tried the corn & chicken chowder, do it. Their turkey sandwiches have slices thick enough for Thanksgiving dinner, their bacon is thick cut and crisp. Their fish burger is great (though I recommend adding their southwest ranch to it), and their salad dressings- the southwest ranch is particular, are SO good. Chicken salad is definitely on the sweet side with the honey mustard dressing, and the Turkey Trot wrap is a personal favorite. The only con I can think of is that I'm not in love with their side salads, which are basically fancy mixed greens, a little onion and croutons, with a big thin slice of hard cheese on top. The cheese slice is kind of odd, but the ritual of ripping it up into smaller pieces makes the big cheese kind of an endearing quirk for me now, also easy to remove if you're not into it.Their cookies are addictively good; don't get them if you value your waistline! Last but not least- their containers are paper product, not styrofoam, so no guilt if you want to try them for take out. I wish they were in Raleigh, but if you're in Durham, the same owners run Nosh. Tips: Be forewarned that they get really packed around noon, but they do get food out to you pretty fast once your order is in. And, if you bring in a picture of your pet, you get a free cookie. They also cater, so if you have a big boring, all day meeting or conference, you can at least have good food. read more

Despite how popular this place is (and don't worry if you see a long line -- it moves quickly), I am simply amazed that the great people that work there somehow recognize me and remember my order! So 5 stars for "service" alone. As for food, I always get the same thing... the unappetizing sounding "fish burger". But don't let the name put you off, it is delicious. Tilapia in a light tortilla chip coating on a white bun with some slaw. Even the slaw is well seasoned & not too wet or creamy. Simply amazing salads, sandwiches, and soups. They have great tasting combos of meats/cheeses and breads. I frequent here when I work in my Durham/RTP office. It can get pretty crazy at lunch with crowds and it is pretty loud, but the food is so good. I was very adventurous one time and tried the pimento cheese sandwich on recommendation from a friend. It is not something I'd ever think to order and it was so good. It is on a 3-seed bread with roasted red peppers. I get it with a side Lancie's Spinach salad. This last time blew me away. I ordered the steak fajitas and they were so good. A great mixture of spicy, tender meat, caramelized onions, and a red/yellow pepper mix. It came with the side salad with honey balsamic vinaigrette and shaved Parmesan. So yummy! It is a little pricey for a workday lunch usually topping out at just over $10 with a tea, but so worth it. read more

The quality of the food outclasses the over hyped establishments of Mez and other large contenders that have somehow earned the title of best lunch spot. It's hard to narrow down what makes Piper's so special. I can't recall a time I've ever complained, let alone that the meal didn't live up to my expectations. While I stick to a few items that I love (the beef chili is basically life changing), I always enjoy the continuously evolving special list, as well as the hearty offerings you wouldn't expect to find at a small cafe, like the beef brisket sandwich. Three of us went for lunch. Our first impressions were a restaurant that is entirely too loud. The dining area severely needs some sound dampening. My dB meter on my phone was registering dangerous volumes (at long term exposure). Luckily we got one of the two outdoor tables on this pleasant day. The Ruben sandwich I ordered was pretty good, but it was made very sloppily. The meat was in a big pile in the center leaving none on the edges. My co-worker ordered the Ham sandwich and she said it was too dry and the dijonnaise sauce was subpar, and that was especially disappointing for her since it was the main draw of the sandwich. My other co-worker got the BLT and he thought his was try too which was surprising given two difference sauces. We're thinking the bread for both dry sandwiches was sliced too thick. Two of us got the potato salad side and while it looks fantastic, neither of us cared for the flavor. The (mayo, and mustard or dijonnaise I'm guessing) sauce seemed a bit thin and I think the combination of the two led to a confused flavor. I'd choose one or the other, with a preference towards mustard-based. If the shop were closer, we'd come back to try more, but given it's a 10-12 minute commute there wasn't enough today to get us back. Two stars seems a bit harsh making me think I should rate three, but Yelp's description of two stars is spot on: "Meh. I've experienced better." read more

Whenever my wife and I walk in the door, the cashier sees us and has our usual orders rung up before we've even walked to the register. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing. :) I always get the brisket sandwich, and it's never anything less than stellar - flavorful and piping hot, and the cheese and sautéed onions really make it. My wife usually gets the beef wrap, and won't get anything else. If you're hitting this place up for lunch though (and you must be, because they're ONLY open for lunch), try to get there early. We usually try to be there by 11:45; if you wait until much later, it gets pretty slammed, and there's not a ton of seating. For a lunch spot in RTP, this is really tough to beat. read more

This place was unusual as far as the setup. The tables don't really match, the ceiling fans are weird colors, there are plastic seats in some areas, some chairs are made out of old doors (not a typo), and other oddities. But it worked. I wouldn't take a business lunch group there unless I was trying to show how eccentric I could be but the service was quick. read more
