I arrived here with two friends and I was out of sorts a bit, in a bad mood. I left in a bad mood because I was sad I had already eaten all my tuna in nori tempura. Sometimes I love food so much I pout after I've eaten it because I'm full and can't eat any more. This was the case at Piscolabis. The initial offering of pa amb tomàquet, was above par. Pa amb tomàquet gets old in Catalonia quickly, however the bread and fine olive oil used here made the normal bland fare delicious. Seis de los olivos, six olives, pitted and stuffed with fish quasi-sushi style was amazing. The tuna wrapped in nori (sushi style seaweed, but no rice) lightly battered in tempura were four slices of heaven served up in a light sauce. My true carnivore friends appeared to enjoy their beef and pepper skewers. They made the usual, "Awww, it's too bad you can't eat this, you poor pescatarian, you." I simply nodded in agreement because my mouth was full of tuna and I wasn't sharing. A safe assumption: even someone less neurotic about food would find many things on the tapas menu that they would miss later. read more

This ended up being a really good choice after we tried to get into two other tapas bars (Tapas24 and Ciudad Condal) but were completely shot out due to overcrowding. Unlike the other two restaurants, Piscolabis was a large, spacious tapas bar with plenty of seating, a large menu and a casual, friendly vibe. The tapas was not the best we had in Barcelona.....in fact, I've even had better tapas in Los Angeles, but the variety was great, the vibe was cool and it totally won out for convenience. The price wasn't so bad either and we were able to enjoy ourselves some liters of samgria! It's good service, good food, and I think it'd be a great place for groups and would definitely consider going back if/when in the area. read more

We went here twice 4 years ago and went again a week ago. Love this place. Extensive menu of both traditional and creative dishes. You cannot go wrong with any of their salads or any tapas that comes with a hamburger. as part of the dish. I wish they would open up a branch in NJ. Located close enough to Plaza Catalunya and Las Ramblas but in a quieter area making the outdoor dining experience even more pleasant. read more

Stayed in Barcelona for 3 days and we went here at least twice! We love the service! Food is great! The vibe is chill! No one bothers you when your just enjoying your time. They have outdoor sitting as well. The inside is so spacious. We preferred sitting inside since it was a quite a windy night. tapas price range from 4€-11€. I loved that this place was right across our hotel. It was my first time in Barcelona. The closing hours are till very late which worked out well after our adventures in Barcelona. I speak Spanish so there were no language barrier issues. The waiter was a bit pushy with trying to get us to order more and I realized they have two sets of menu. One with various tapas and another with a prefix menu. I noticed they would give it to customers who knew absolutely no Spanish and passed it off as their only menu. The prefix was at a much higher cost than the very reasonable tapas menu. It was our second time there as I said very convenient to Hilton where we were staying. That truly disgusted me to see them taking advantage of tourist! I was a tourist myself but I am Hispanic. We never went back again. Piscolabis was a great place for tasting Spanish tapas! Here we found a wide variety of tapas - 65 items according to the menu! Given that the menu was multilingual with photos of the tasty tapas made our dining experience less intimidating. My dining companions and I ended up ordering the mini hamburgers with goat cheese, fried calamares, cheese risotto, pasta, and a dish with a variety of olives plus beer and wine. Everything was hot, good, and simply delicious! Given the quality of the tapas and portion sides, prices here were quite reasonable! Suggestion - if the weather is warm or hot, I recommend eating in the restaurant's outdoor terrace situated in the middle of the street! read more

I came here recently with friends for dinner. We meet at Plaza Catalunuya and walked around until we found a place that we liked. Piscolabis has outdoor seating (somewhat in the middle of the street) that provides the perfect environment for sharing tapas with friends. While we were there they attempted to get the heaters working but it was to no avail. We all had jackets and it wasn't that chilly, so it all worked out ok. Some of my favorite dishes were the asparagus, the Japanese chicken skewers, and the grilled vegetables. You'll definitely want to get dessert here as well. I recommend the truffles. Piscolabis has an extensive wine list, so for the wino reading this review, you'll want to check out this place for that reason alone. My only issue was with the service. At times they forgot one or more of our tapas/desserts, and we ended up waiting about a half hour for the bill after requesting it. We had a great time here, but expect to be here about 3-4 hours for dinner. read more

We spent 4 days in Barcelona and although we attempted to eat our way through the city, I actually came back to this place twice. The tapas was amazing, and the service is very very good. I loved the many options available and if you've ever eaten tapas in Spain, you know that tomato bread is a must do and out of all the places we went...this was the best. Additionally, I love cheese, and the cheese options were plenty. I had the three cheese risotto which was beyond fabulous, I had three cheese fried croquettes - also delicious and bitebite size brie, yum!! My hubby indulged in the shrimp, sardines, eggplant and artichoke - all of which he raved about. Wines and Sangria are very cheap so drink, eat & enjoy!! read more

Ended up here our first night in Spain. We were in need of food and stopped here while out for a walk. First, we made the mistake of ordering too much food. I think the low prices tricked us and we were hungry so we just kept adding tapas to our order. The potato omelette was the only item we somewhat enjoyed. My boyfriend said the squid was terrible and not worth trying. I also had a glass of sangria which had a bunch of sugar in the bottom of the glass. Tapas place that has not as much character as the other places. It is spacious, but it feels too shiny. I liked the assortment of olives stuffed with different kinds of fish. The arroz negro (rice cooked in squid ink) was quite alright as well. Cooking was very slow here. read more

We came here for 10 pm dinner during the Easter holiday. Maybe that's why it was almost deserted. Food was OK. Service was OK, certainly no delay. Atmosphere was lacking. We walked past a few days later and it was again not very busy (on a night where we had to queue at a nearby establishment). Delicious! My husband and I went to Piscolabis just because it was easily located near our hotel and we didn't have much time. It was such an unexpected, wonderful meal. We love croquetas and we certainly were not disappointed by the crispy outsides and gooey insides of these. Mmm, so good! We got a few other dishes, but our favorite was an egg dish with thick potato chips. Try it! The service was also great. Our server knew we were in a hurry, and our tapas came out in a jiffy.
