Love the Pismo Beach pier. The beach itself is long and you can explore for hours here. Whether you like to surf or Layout or even search for seashells, this is a great spot. It can get busy in the summer. There was plenty of room to spread out the weekend we were there. On the pier you can see fishing as well as a couple of food spots. Overall, this is a great place to bring your kids or romantic getaway.
The pier is a nice place to walk out and get some fresh air after a day of shops, bars, cafes and bumping into strangers on the narrow sidewalks of Pismo Beach. This is not a carnival with rides or a tourist trap with overpriced eateries, it is a simple sightseeing and fishing pier. Interestingly there is no fishing permit required for pier fishing. Fishing gear rentals is available on the pier. There are great photo ops in every direction. Must see sunrises and sunsets available at no cost. There are quite a few rusty and seedy addicts and vagrants in the parking lot and on the pier just for that authentic non-family safe experience California has become known for in the last 15 years.
Pismo Beach pier is the perfect spot to take a sunset scroll, watch the surfers or just enjoy the fresh air with friends or family. The pier was just recently remodeled so it is beautiful and vast. I always have a wonderful time walking the pier and jogging along the beach. 5 stars every time!
While it's not huge, Pismo Beach Pier is absolutely gorgeous. I visited during the off-season, so it wasn't overly crowded, which made the experience even better. The weather was perfect, mid to high 70s, and the atmosphere felt relaxed and welcoming. People were friendly, and the highlight was spotting dolphins during an early morning visit. Such a peaceful and memorable place.
Just down the road from the dunes is the pier. And for me, it's a totally different scene. I love that it seems like a more family oriented beach. Lots of sand space, and a great place to people watch, get in the water, or go on a nice walk. The boardwalk is well maintained, with shower options, and showcasing a beautiful Pismo Beach sign. It's a new favorite spot up this coast. If you're around, I would highly recommend checking it out.
Long. Great walk. Windy! Take in the view, beach for miles. Birds, fishermen. No dogs allowed :( I parked on the street about a mile away. Great to get all those daily steps in. Cute souvenir shops, lots of restaurants and places to have a drink as you watch the sun go down. It's not my fave pier in CA but it made for a great day.
Bakersfield to Pismo is about a 2 1/2 hour drive. It's nice to get away from the heat and Pismo is just our first to go place for that. We spent $30 for public parking and we were there from like 8AM to 3PM. I love how where we park is close to the pier and we can walk back and forth. There are public restrooms which I noticed DID NOT have toilet seat covers and the ones off the street were not very clean and did not have soap. We love walking down to the pier. They have bowling, pool, restaurants, shops galore, hotels, bike rentals all on the main streets of Pismo, Price Street and Promenade. Pismo beach is dog friendly and you'll see so many cute dogs. They have the pier where you can just watch the ocean and the surfers or fish off of. There's benches to sit and relax. The water is cold, no doubt about that but it's nice to just sit or lay on the beach. Hours seem to just fly by when you're at Pismo Beach.
Such a beautiful place a perfect stop if you're traveling further or a perfect place to stay a few days if you like clam cheddar, they have the best clam chowder at splash House and they also have this location that has the best cinnamon rolls. I even got to see the surfing goats super excited for that.
The pier was filled with cars at the annual car show. Packed with people for the weekend. There were cars and vendors at the pier entrance, too, by the Pismo Beach sign. The beach wasn't too crowded and for the most part it was clean under the pier. I did pick up and throw away a few plastic bottles that I could carry along with my leashed dog. This pier is really wide compared to the others nearby. That was nice, as it provided a lot of shade. Wooden steps down to the beach from the pier. Lifeguard stations, but I didn't notice if they were manned (or womanned!) at the time I was there. When there's no event going on, the pier would be a great area to get sunset pictures!!

Pier is beautiful and flooring is stable af. Beach is Clorox clean. I swear!!! Visitors, locals, and staff really keep this beach clean. I didn't see any trash except in the trash can where it belongs. Weather was nice and cool. Locals are friendly and nice. We had a few of them give my ex gf and me some unsolicited conversations that made us smile. We had another local offer to take pictures of my ex gf and me with her phone. So nice. Wish folks were this nice and friendly in Los Angeles County . Male and female restrooms were clean when we needed them. Lots of places to eat and shop. Most are pricey. If you want souvenirs, definitely go to the outlets, a mile away from the beach. Biggest issue with beach (and any other beach) is available free public parking. We actually got lucky to find a nice spot while a person was leaving. read more

After grabbing some award winning Clam Chowder at Splash Cafe, we decided to walk around the Pismo Beach Pier before getting back on the road to Solvang. We walked around the outer part where they have a huge stand up Pismo Beach photo op, plus a nice public restroom and even a little playground near the pier which I think is a nice touch! Our daughter loved playing on it! The Pismo Beach Pier is about 1,200 feet and it was nice to stretch our legs and enjoy the ocean breeze. Lots of benches and concrete tables to sit at and relax - it was fun watching the surfers catch some waves. They allow you to fish off the pier as long as you don't cast off of it. They also have signs that tells you what kind of fish you might catch as well as information on the different birds in the area. The pier and beach were also nice and clean - I didn't see any trash! My family and I are already talking about coming back in the Fall and renting one of the hotel rooms that overlook the ocean. It was a much needed fresh air break away from the busy city! We can't wait to come back! read more
Pismo Beach. This pier was alive on Saturday night. Lots of people and good places to visit and has that quaint small town charm. It's a Pier, sure, but the road to the pier makes you somehow feel cozy and happy. Food, laughter, fun! I am not from here but I am glad I visited. Been to Pismo Beach a couple of times but I've never been near or to the pier. Please visit. read more

Familiar beach that has greats eats like Cool Cat Cafe and Splash Cafe! It does get really busy during holidays and school breaks but definitely really fun beach here in the Central Coast. Pictures I uploaded were from the sand art festival! read more

Sure, its basically a building but its cool to walk that far out over the breakers and look back at the town. The seating areas were nice. It wasnt crowded and there was plenty of space to mive around and not feel like i was bothering someone. read more

The Good: *Beautiful pier that extends out nearly 1,400' into the ocean and is a nice, girthy 32' wide. *Free to visit the pier *Fishing is legal off the pier without a CA fishing license *Amazing views and scenery The Meh: *Can get very crowded in the summer The Ugly: *Parking is not free as the lots around the pier charge $3-5/hr variable, and the lots a bit further away charge $2-3/hr variable. Conclusion: A must-see part of a must-visit locale. read more
Beautiful place to visit. Parking can be a challenge. Don't forget to pay for parking as we almost did. There are so many shops & restaurants nearby. Super cute area and it's busy. Will definitely be back to stay longer. read more

It was such a beautiful and sunny day. Lots of people walking around enjoying the Clam Chowder festival that was going on. There were so many vendors set up with yummy looking food. There are public bathrooms here, and they're pretty clean. Great views of the beach and easy access to the sand and sea. The pismo beach sign is a great photo opportunity! read more
They've cleaned up the pier and improved it a lot. It's a lot cleaner and very touristy. They have a visitor center right at the beginning of the pier. Fishing gear rentals and bait are available on the pier. They also have snacks and gifts too. There are quite a few Picnic tables available as well as benches and a fish cleaning area. There's public restrooms just off the pier. They also have big letters that spell PISMO BEACH for a photo op. The day was nice and sunny with a nice cooand you could see the whole bay area. We came here on our way south to visit family and friends in San Diego. It's a great place to relax and unwind and to catch some sun and fresh air! We plan to come back. read more
The wooden Pismo Beach Pier is the icon of Pismo Beach and stands behind the giant Pismo Beach sign. It's a long but nice walk to the edge of the pier with beautiful views of the ocean everywhere you look. Along the way you'll see people fishing and when looking down you'll see people playing on the beach. It's a typical small beach town but is a popular destination for family-friendly activities or a weekend trip. read more
Beautiful place to have peace of mind and take a walk feeling the ocean breeze. You can watch people fishing, grab a bite at a food truck and learn more about the beach at the visitor information center that is located on the pier. They do an amazing job keeping the place clean and having many chairs for people to enjoy the scenery. One drawback about this place is that their pay station and sign is hidden. On the row that I park at the parking lot, people all back parked their car so I did the same. When I came back from the walk, the person who parked next to me told me that we all got a ticket because we didn't pay for the parking. The reason was because the sign was on a location that was high and behind us so none of us saw it. We were all looking for the pay station but even that, we had a hard time finding it. We finally found it behind a huge bushy tree. I thought that was very sneaky and crappy thing that Pismo Beach did. We all didn't even see any sign that there was a parking fee. The ticket end up being $85. When we called to pay, it wasn't even in the system yet so we had to wait a day for them process. read more

This iconic Pismo Beach Pier is iconic for a reason. It offers something for almost everyone. One can come just to chill and meditate in solitude with the beautiful ocean view and waves crashing that makes you feel so profoundly relaxed, almost a spiritual experience. Another can come and enjoy watching the surfers surfing. If you are into fishing, you can also do that, or if you're like me, I like to people watch and enjoy watching everyone that walks by, including watching those people fishing! I have also just simply walked by the sand along the beach and it was just as much fun and enjoyable! The only thing that might be a bit challenging I would imagine is the parking. I never had the problem because I was staying at the nearby Vespera Hotel but seeing that there was a parking lot but with limited space, I would think there's a little bit of a challenge in parking specially on busy days like weekends and holidays. But I think it's still all be worth your while. read more

The Pismo Beach Pier jutted out into the ocean a fair distance, so it was great walking out and watching the flight of the gulls and surfers doing their thing. Several fishermen were dropping lines into the water, but I didn't see anybody catch anything. It was a nice walk to stretch my legs on this road trip. I noticed dogs aren't allowed to walk out on the pier, which is a real bummer since the beach seems to be open to furbabies. Some visitors were really bummed when they couldn't go past a certain point on the pier. Another sign said you can go clamming there, but you'd need a fishing license and the limit would be 10 clams of a specific size! You'd have to rebury any clams that are not big enough! The large Pismo Beach sign provides a great photo op and lots of people were lined up waiting for their turn. There's also a nice play area for kids and a couple of great murals. The area is filled with lots of souvenir shops and plenty of restaurants of varying prices, so something for everybody! I only stopped to have clam chowder at Splash Cafe, but it provided the warmth and deliciousness I craved on a windy, overcast day! read more

This is such a lovely place to take a walk and enjoy beautiful ocean views. There are amazing views of the coastline. You can watch surfers and swimmers. There is something for all ages here. There is dining and shopping close by. If you like to fish, this is a great place. No license is necessary. If you didn't bring a fishing pole, no worries you can rent your equipment right on the pier. read more
I took a walk on the pier on a Saturday morning during a surf competition. It was busy and there were lots of vendors both on the pier and in the plaza. - I got a chai at the Iron Wolf coffee stand on the pier. They had oat milk and though it was priced a little higher than I hoped it was delicious. The pricing is posted before you order and the team was extremely friendly and quick. - There are three different vintage airstreams on the pier, one of which is a visitors center. I was able to pick up free booklets for the surrounding area and receive guidance to the monarch butterfly grove. There was a playground that was whale themed, live music and a few professional "Pismo" signs/ sculptures for photos. - I liked the bike path/walkway that offers unique views of the water, surfers, and mountainous landscape. This is a great spot for pictures as well as a delicious snack. The pier is less than a block away from restaurants, grab and go food spots, shops, and bars. It can get hot very quickly so make sure to bring sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat. read more

Looks like the pier is scheduled to be open for the Clam festival coming up around Sept 24, I believe. I saw them working on it today and it still looks like they have some work to go :)
