Love the Pismo Beach pier. The beach itself is long and you can explore for hours here. Whether you like to surf or Layout or even search for seashells, this is a great spot. It can get busy in the summer. There was plenty of room to spread out the weekend we were there. On the pier you can see fishing as well as a couple of food spots. Overall, this is a great place to bring your kids or romantic getaway.

The pier is a nice place to walk out and get some fresh air after a day of shops, bars, cafes and bumping into strangers on the narrow sidewalks of Pismo Beach. This is not a carnival with rides or a tourist trap with overpriced eateries, it is a simple sightseeing and fishing pier. Interestingly there is no fishing permit required for pier fishing. Fishing gear rentals is available on the pier. There are great photo ops in every direction. Must see sunrises and sunsets available at no cost. There are quite a few rusty and seedy addicts and vagrants in the parking lot and on the pier just for that authentic non-family safe experience California has become known for in the last 15 years.

The Pismo Pier has had a lot of upgrades. Nice shops, decent walk- beautiful views. Theres even a couple businesses on the pier now you can grab a drink at.

Pismo Beach pier is the perfect spot to take a sunset scroll, watch the surfers or just enjoy the fresh air with friends or family. The pier was just recently remodeled so it is beautiful and vast. I always have a wonderful time walking the pier and jogging along the beach. 5 stars every time!

Familiar beach that has greats eats like Cool Cat Cafe and Splash Cafe! It does get really busy during holidays and school breaks but definitely really fun beach here in the Central Coast. Pictures I uploaded were from the sand art festival!

While it's not huge, Pismo Beach Pier is absolutely gorgeous. I visited during the off-season, so it wasn't overly crowded, which made the experience even better. The weather was perfect, mid to high 70s, and the atmosphere felt relaxed and welcoming. People were friendly, and the highlight was spotting dolphins during an early morning visit. Such a peaceful and memorable place.

Just down the road from the dunes is the pier. And for me, it's a totally different scene. I love that it seems like a more family oriented beach. Lots of sand space, and a great place to people watch, get in the water, or go on a nice walk. The boardwalk is well maintained, with shower options, and showcasing a beautiful Pismo Beach sign. It's a new favorite spot up this coast. If you're around, I would highly recommend checking it out.

Weather was nice. Pier was clean. Not that many people. Street parking available. Lots of places around to eat and shop.

Long. Great walk. Windy! Take in the view, beach for miles. Birds, fishermen. No dogs allowed :( I parked on the street about a mile away. Great to get all those daily steps in. Cute souvenir shops, lots of restaurants and places to have a drink as you watch the sun go down. It's not my fave pier in CA but it made for a great day.

    Pismo Beach.....loved hy surfers

Bakersfield to Pismo is about a 2 1/2 hour drive. It's nice to get away from the heat and Pismo is just our first to go place for that. We spent $30 for public parking and we were there from like 8AM to 3PM. I love how where we park is close to the pier and we can walk back and forth. There are public restrooms which I noticed DID NOT have toilet seat covers and the ones off the street were not very clean and did not have soap. We love walking down to the pier. They have bowling, pool, restaurants, shops galore, hotels, bike rentals all on the main streets of Pismo, Price Street and Promenade. Pismo beach is dog friendly and you'll see so many cute dogs. They have the pier where you can just watch the ocean and the surfers or fish off of. There's benches to sit and relax. The water is cold, no doubt about that but it's nice to just sit or lay on the beach. Hours seem to just fly by when you're at Pismo Beach.

Also they had free tacos god is good

Such a beautiful place a perfect stop if you're traveling further or a perfect place to stay a few days if you like clam cheddar, they have the best clam chowder at splash House and they also have this location that has the best cinnamon rolls. I even got to see the surfing goats super excited for that.

    Fun day at Pismo Pier!

The pier was filled with cars at the annual car show. Packed with people for the weekend. There were cars and vendors at the pier entrance, too, by the Pismo Beach sign. The beach wasn't too crowded and for the most part it was clean under the pier. I did pick up and throw away a few plastic bottles that I could carry along with my leashed dog. This pier is really wide compared to the others nearby. That was nice, as it provided a lot of shade. Wooden steps down to the beach from the pier. Lifeguard stations, but I didn't notice if they were manned (or womanned!) at the time I was there. When there's no event going on, the pier would be a great area to get sunset pictures!!

    Such fun!!!

The upgrades are nice. It's always a good time to fish off the pier as well. Would definitely recommend if you haven't tried.

Really pretty views (and a short walk). Come early in the day if you want to get a group photo in front of the Pismo Beach sign.

    Is the pier open already?

Looks like the pier is scheduled to be open for the Clam festival coming up around Sept 24, I believe. I saw them working on it today and it still looks like they have some work to go :)

Actually, I had never known about Avila Beach until one night, as I was scrolling through instagram, it showed up on my feed. Someone I was following had posted a short reel and I immediately took to how pretty it was. Anyhow, fast forward to just a few days later (and this is the part that seemed 'meant to be'), we were on our way to Pismo for a little weekend trip when I see an exit for Avila Beach just shortly before Pismo. "No way!" I thought .... This whole time it was just right there? And so, as we checked into our hotel in Pismo we quickly diverted our original plan - rather than Pismo it's off to Avila we go. Just a short 10min drive and there we were. Shops, restaurants, the pier .... Just beautiful. I have to say - that little discovery really made our weekend memorable. I don't know what it was but my family and I really enjoyed the afternoon that we'd spent here. There was something for everyone. I had my jolt of much needed caffeine from Kraken coffee (located right off the beach), my daughter got ice cream (husband did as well). The whole afternoon in this little newfound escape was perfect. The beach is beautiful, there are a few shops and eateries that offer both sweet and some savory. It's a lively place to hang out and relaxing enough to bum out too.

The feelings and vibes from the earth cry out to stay forever, but a piece of me is forever apart of the area. My other half belongs to that of the four winds and the bouncy waves of the ocean. As the tides come in I will forever feel the connections that I have established and experienced here. It's unlike any other connection that one could experience with a place. It's sheer bliss and joy. It's that calming wind as the waves of the ocean crash over your feet in the sand as the sun sets. The sand swallows every step just a little, but when your foot raises for air you wrapped in the entwines of him. Listen he calls to me, who or what calls to you? Come take my hand, we will explore and find it. Beautiful things don't as for attention, the land and surrounding area scream at one with emotional empathy. Many many thousands of years this area has been home to so many people. Some of the first inhabitants to call this area home were the indigenous Chumash peoples. Primarily existing on fishing and gathering what was around the area it's a thriving piece of land to call home. Their are so many abundant flora and fauna around to build your dwelling and such. The Chumash indigenous peoples had so many abundant resources that they were able to explore what we take for granted these days; "free time." The introduction of exchanging something for something else started with the Chumash. It was said that these early inhabitants were extremely friendly and welcoming. Becoming friends with the Spanish and other individuals that wandered into their area. They traded and exchanged goods for their famous first form of currency in exchange for goods with a monitory system. Indeed we learned a lot from these past peoples that are still celebrated together in the area with their ruins spread all over the place. San Luis is a great city with a legacy of hosting so many events. Up until about five years ago, they held the areas only Marci Gras parade that was compared to the likes of that in New Orleans. It was canceled due to drunkenness in the public by too many citizens being disorderly. Here the citizens have created chaos and this is not the first time when public intoxicating created an intolerance in the community. The area works well to solve their issues just like that of the early indigenous individuals that first called this area home. The land here is healing and takes care of those that choose to live here. Not sure if you could tolerate this connection, not all can it take a special few to hear the whispers that allow for this connection. Fear and disparities are no way to ever live. In fact it's those that truly live that feel the joy and warmth around them. This place choose me, and I believe their are no coincidences in life. All happens for a reason, but we chose the path. Just as life is apart of life, death is usually off limits for most. It's a fact and fear of life. Death should be discussed not pushed aside because of some fear. It's taken me enormous leaps to be able to say and believe these words. I know first hand, since I lost my beloved Chris so young. He passed at 45 years of age and after 23 years of marriage. That's a lifetime, but it's been my overcoming battle with FEAR, to face it and move on. My husband would of wanted that, and for me to be happy. If not I would of been beside him in the ground and that's not gonna happen. Every time I long for him I have these precious memories and moments. Explore more joy and seek that out that makes your rainbow glow.
