Carlos Came out on a Saturday when all the other roofing companies would NOT and Cllimbed up on the Roof and also Went up inside the Attic through the very small hole and inspected the entire roof and was able to tell me everything the roof and the Roof ventilation system would need to fix everything. They Scheduled the New Roof Installation With All Owen's Corning Duration Shingles and upgraded WeatherLock Ice and Water Shield roof edge guard Owens Starter Strip, Deck Defense water proof barrier, upgraded Breathe Vent Sure Ridge vent and Black Metal Drip Edge plus Fixing Our Bathroom Fan vents to go up through the roof instead of venting into the Attic. Maine ProRoofing was actually the third contractor I contacted, the first was out of town, the…read moresecond, Erie, was a con job who wanted $45K for a mod bit rubber roof for an area of 15 squares. Mike Fox from Maine Proofing came out, walked on the roof, saw the existing patchwork and leaky vents that had been caulked some time ago. He agreed that there was enough slope for a metal roof. I chose a dark blue, standing (hidden) seam. I learned that the roofing was supplied by Maine Amish. I was happy to buy from a local source. Once the dumpster arrived, he and the crew got the job done in three days. The sheathing was intact and did not need replaced. I decided to have the shingles removed, and that was done. He and the crew installed new boots for the vent and caulked them--one of the old ones had a large hornet's inside! They installed a high temp ice and water shield over the whole roof. This was covered by a snap lock standing seam metal roof, 19 gauge, I think. They installed rake trim along the rakes and the gable ends complete with starter J channel, and Z closures at the cap installation, and used Geosill and butylene sealing tape where needed. The debris was cleaned up, at least 99%. I'm happy. I did not get the chance to borrow their ladder to take pics, but my stepson went up and confirmed that it was well done. My front door is not properly installed. When you push against the frame, it moves. It should not do that. DON"T USE THESE GUYS! He is authentically old school--follows through, responds to customers' needs, and puts a bit of himself in every project. On our project, that included coming out in an unexpected and ice cold downpour to dig a ditch for drainage within a half hour of calling him. He came by almost daily to check on the work and once had the crew take down a days work and start over--not because it was wrong. Just because it could be even better. Seriously, who does that?! It also meant working covertly with a family member to find the perfect craftsman style front door as my Christmas gift and scheduling around me so it would be a surprise. He even came up with a door handle that a previous client had custom ordered and then decided against--just because he thought it would look really nice. Not sure which was better, the absolutely perfect surprise handle or the pride on his face when I said how much I love it. His crew are talented and hard working.
