I can't count the number of times that I've been, since I first tried the place in 2008 or 2009 (after moving to Tyler from the west coast). Bernard is almost always on hand to keep an eye on his "baby" and I've never had a bad dinner here. (Their lunch menu is a little light on choices, and I'm not a fan of the salad dressing used on the salads at lunch, but it's still a great place to take a client for lunch). Their dinner service is really where they shine though. The food is amazing, the ambiance is perfect for an intimate meal, and they always have amazing specials! (My favorite is when they have lamb... it is simply the best. My husband loves their seafood, but they do EVERYTHING well, and the bread and olive tapinade is so good that it's hard not to fill up on it while waiting for your food.) If you're adventurous, I'd suggest the escargot (after my husband tried it once, he now orders it every time we come here). If you simply want a decadent appetizer, the baked brie is wonderful. They also do a really good French onion soup. I really don't have anything bad that I can say about Bernard's, other than I wish it was open on Mondays.
