The food is just simply delicious and the portions are GENEROUS! For the price you pay (which would seem pricey) you get almost a whole days worth of food! Please let me emphasize on how fresh everything is, including the rice. This is important because I've tried places where the rice taste straight out of a box or bag? You can tell how fresh and homemade they make their stuff. The way this works is you go straight to registers where you'll find the menu on the wall. When ready to order you walk up to register, pay then sit yourself down anywhere you like. Now back to the food-We're regulars and usually get the chicken shawarma meal with rice, Greek salad and cucumber sauce. Please don't skip the cucumber sauce! It's what brings these dishes to life!! Space is gorgeous, wide open and more than plenty for large groups. Birthdays would be perfect here. I don't always feel the friendly vibes from the young man at the register. I am addicted to this place. I actually dream about it when I'm not in Tyler and I just want to drive there just to visit this restaurant. I always get the same thing which is the combo skewers. That's one chicken, one lamb and one beef and I get it with the hummus. I do not know what they do to this hummus, but it is so delicious. Then the skewers are on type of a rice with a salad on the side. The salad is so fresh and whatever dressing they put on it is just delicious. Then they put the sauce that's on top of your skewers and it is like a creamy Delicacy. The next time I go, I'm just going to ask them to put more of that creamy stuff on it because it's like it's just not enough and it's just so freaking delicious. I had an iced tea and the iced tea is like a combination spicy fresh/regular tea if that makes any sense. Not what I would normally probably choose, but it's still refreshing and doesn't throw me off in any kind of way or isn't a real turn off so I would get that again.. I've tasted like their wraps which is like a wrap Gyro and those were really tasty too. I started to get that this time but I'm just so addicted to the skewer plate. My customer/friend originally introduced me to this restaurant and now it is the only place I ever want to go when I come to town. Tyler has so many food options with barbecue, Mexican food and Mediterranean that you're surely never to go hungry in this city, but I am just addicted to going here. I love that they are always consistent and the food is always good. I think they have tons of customers because you always see people coming in to this place for dining in or either to go. Absolutely delicious food. My husband and I split the mixed grilled meat plate with two sides, hummus and Greek salad. And baclava (sp?) for dessert. The beef was so tender and savory, great flavor on the chicken without it being dry, and beef/lamb ground together (I don't remember it's called) was also very good. Loved the baclava, too. The friendly cashier who took our order was very knowledgeable and helpful. The food came out quickly and hot. The restaurant is very clean and beautifully decorated. The bathrooms were also very nice and clean. The plate that was meant for one fed us both very nicely. If you're super hungry, though, don't share but you'll be stuffed. No idea whether it was a Door Dash issue or not. We called the restaurant and within 30 minutes the OWNER of Tiba delivered our order and added baklava on the house! This is my husband and my favorite date spot as the food is delicious and the ambiance is perfect for a conversation. The chicken shawarma plate with the baba ganoush and salad is my favorite. My kids love the gyros and the hummus and baklava are also very good. The homemade spicy pickled vegetables side are also one of my favorites. So many great reviews. I was super excited. BAD: Normally, shawarma flavor is so rich and flavorful. Unfortunately, this location's was very bland and the rice flavoring over took the meat flavoring. It tasted more like a beef fajita from a Mexican restaurant than any Shawarma flavored meat I've had before. And the portion size was less than desirable for the price. GOOD: Rice was great. Hummus was traditional and very tasty. Salad/dressing was also flavorful. BIAS: Growing up in Houston, I've been fortunate to have some really fabulous Mediterranean food. Decent food, but very disappointed with falafel plate portion size. I got the falafel plate with a salad and hummus. It had one dinner spoon serving side of hummus. Salad was normal side salad size. It didn't come with rice, though it appeared to come with it on the menu on the wall. Other guests seemed to have normal plate sizes, but mine was more like a snack. As someone who is half Turkish & lived in Turkey for six years, this is as good as it's gonna get in Tyler, TX. There's more authentic and better Mediterranean food in Dallas & Houston, but this is great for East Texas. They have a little grocery store inside too. It's worth checking out. They're located in a kind of hard to find spot. If you're not looking for them, it's not a restaurant that would jump out at you, it's off the main roads. The website is goofy. First off, you HAVE to select a pickup/delivery time to even view the menu. That said, the only available pick up time available for that day was for 11:30 pm (they close at 8pm). So I selected my only allowed time of 11:30pm so my group and I could view the menu. We selected our items and went ahead and placed the order despite the pick up time (which couldn't be changed at payment by the way). After placing the order I called the restaurant 4 times to confirm my order and no one answered. So we decided to just go up there to pick up/check status, and of course the order wasn't started, no big deal we just waited. The food was pretty tasty, however the portions are small and misleading when compared to the pictures on the website. One example of this is the Baklava, which shows several pieces on the website for $4.25. I didn't expect a pile for that price (like the website suggests), but we were given half a piece. For these reasons, I gave it a 2/5. It's not really worth the hassle here to go back, unless changes are made! read more
