So, I went back my birthday week Friday June 27th and ate there again. I tried all the baklava. So, I shop at a Middle Eastern grocery store in Phoenix that has a baklava bar which is amazing. But, how this little Gem took my baklava experience to another level no words.. So my favorite is the filo shredded dough with the hidden layer of pistachio underneath soaked in the honey syrup. Hole in the wall kind of vibe here, I drive down University rd all the time and only just now found out about this place and oh my gosh is this place so good. The place seems family owned, the guy at the front is very chill and is more than happy to help explain what they have if it's your first time. I usually get the family platter which feeds about 4-5 since I'm always here with friends or family. You can choose which types of skewers you like but I usually just get a few of everything. They have chicken, sirloin (i think), kafta, and sojok skewers. My personal favorite is the kafta which is like a ground beef garlic parsley kind of skewer. 12/10 and their rice is amazingly seasoned. I won't lie it can be a little pricey but especially with a big group, getting the platter is worth it. read more

This place used to be good before their viral chicken Shawarma wrap got popular. Now you can't go there in order from the register or in line like before, you have to order on some tablets and the tablets are always a long line because people don't know how to use them or work them correctly. Also, some things you cannot substitute but when you order from the cash register, you can substitute whatever you want to. They have desserts there and you can't order those on the tablet, and you can't order all of the drinks on the tablet. They are trying to push this onto the customers while people are standing around behind the cash register really doing nothing at all. This place used to be round better and the food was good. If you want to go through all that you can, but you're gonna have to order, then talk to them about what substitute you want, and stand in a long line while somebody who doesn't know how to use that tablet takes a long time and you're stuck in between two lines because there's two different tablets on two different ends of their restaurant. Very bad ran business, along with Management poor behavior towards customers that want to order the original way and how you're supposed to order at a restaurant like theirs, which is a Cafe style or a grill style where you order at to register, pay, and then you get your food. last but not least the restaurant is dirty, the windowsills are full of insects, dust, and all kind of food in nooks and crannies. Looks like they're worried about making money and not the customers experience at their restaurant. Sooner or later they'll probably get a couple strikes against them from some kind of health department or something. Hopefully they take care of their food and the refrigerators better than they do the storefront where the customers eat at and can see on their way in. read more

Found this place while scrolling through social media and constantly trying to find places that make knafeh from scratch! It's located in this small rundown plaza, but don't let that fool you! Once you enter through the doors, you'll find the restaurant on the left and a small marketplace with more seating on the right. I was greeted by one of the sons who help run the family business. He not only took the time to explain what they had in their sweets case for the day but also was excited to share the history behind the various types of khaneh. I never knew there were so many different variations! Then he pulled a tray out of freshly made, still-warm rice pudding. Apparently, these were just made by his mom in the back - so in other words, how can you get more scratchmade and authentic than that? And how can you get better small family business customer service than when the dad checks you out? You can't! Ultimately, I got the chicken kebab pita wrap ($8 for.four pieces of meat with onions, tomatoes, pickles, garlic sauce, and hot sauce as optional) and a few sweet things to try. Maybe it is personal preference, but although the meat was tasty, I wish the wrap was fuller and/or stuffed with lettuce as well. The khaneh with cheese was amazing and would be what I come back for. I would pass on the caramel custard cup next time (super dense) but would get the rice pudding again if I wanted something a tad sweet to end my meal. Overall, this place is worth checking out! I would like to love this place but the last time I got the food the rice was undercooked. I guess they maybe super busy with all orders during the special month. I usually go straight to their daily special section. The molokhia green leaf with chicken is so delicious. The ground beef in the rice is tasty. There are so many selections of desserts. We love Pita Valley! Even though it is just my husband and I, we order the smaller family platter. Everything is tasty here! We are fans of kefta and chicken kabobs our platter consists of salad and protein, and hummus and babaghanoush. The stuffed grape leaves taste like how my grandmother used to make it. I am cutting down on my sugar intake but the homemade desserts look delicious. I usually imaginary eat one peice of every dessert in the case before we get our order. Went in on a chill Thursday night to grab a bite. The employees were so kind and quick with our food. We asked for a recommendation and they said we must try their sampler platter (as shown in picture). The meat was perfectly seasoned, perfectly cooked and juicy. The hummus and the garlic sauce were divine and tasted fresh. And the dolmas reminded me of childhood as I grew up with Turkish family friends. The pickles were so good I asked them where they are from and GUESS WHAT?!! They have a store in the back where you can buy some Mediterranean groceries. We stocked up on pickles and Labne. We tried a shawarma too and that was pretty small for the price so we just treated it like a snack and moved on because the platter was worth the money!
