The collaboration you didn't know you needed. So this Turkish place recently introduced Indian menu. Butter chicken and baklava under one roof. This makes me super excited!! I guess there is new ownership and they are looking to revamp this old Turkish spot. I am excited to come back here for my next visit to see how the vibe goes with the food. However, on this trip, I enjoyed the chicken Shawarma bowl and the chicken was delicious and flavorful along with the tzatziki sauce. Just another average falafel sandwich, but it wasn't green, which was a bonus. The pita seemed fresh and really if it had more tzititi sauce, it could have been a bit better. The combo is $4.50 extra, but the fries served here are miserable thin fries with no seasoning or taste. In Tempe for my first time, for work. Came here for lunch. The boss found it doing recon before we came out and suggested it. I was looking for something light but filling and good and I love me some Mediterranean so this seemed like the place. I'll start but saying I was pleasantly surprised when I saw they offered a bowl for $12. In the end I did added feta for +$2 but in the end, well worth it. I got the chicken gyro with salad base and tiziki. OMG!! This bowl was bomb! It was so delicious. Every bite was packed with flavor. The chicken gyro was so tasty I would 100% get it again! Third time here because it's good, consistent, and healthy. I like to try different restaurants so if I'm a repeat customer, there is something special that brings me back. My first visit was the mixed platter which is a lot if food and (in my opinion) shareable. The second chicken and today the fish. If there was a 4.5 star ranking, I wouldn't hesitate. It's very good... not gourmet but satisfying and leaving you full while knowing you've eaten well. Of what I've eaten this far, I'll be back for the fish again and again (I'm trying to be a pescatarian). Nicely spiced (not hot spicy), not dry (as overcooked fish can be), and makes a great topping for the rice. read more

Fairly big portion sizes (enough to feel full but not enough to have leftovers). Ingredients seemed relatively fresh. I wouldn't say it's the best Mediterranean food I've had though, and it was way overpriced (almost $50 for two people for two basic bowls and one drink, and the toppings were limited) for essentially a version of Cava or Chipotle (it's not a sit down and order place). The additional two dollar for the tabouli was nothing more than a teaspoon of their so-called tabouli that just had cilantro and onions, not tomato and no burgul. The falafel was extremely dry although it had good flavor. The rice was average. The side of fries I ordered was soggy the baklava as dessert was doused with syrup and burned. The meat was cooked well and very tender and the rice was also very well done. Pita is a bit bland compared to others, but the rest of the platter was great. Found this spot while roaming around Mill Avenue and saw the gyro & beer special $8.99 posted outside.. We sat inside but they also have an outdoor sidewalk patio with misters .. We had the beef & lamb gyro with a side of French fries.. the gyro was a good size .. the veggies were different then I'm used to but it was great.. I'd never had pickles in a gyro .. but it worked.. Just tried Med-Fresh Grill for the first time and as a middle eastern woman myself I would say 10/10!!! I ordered a falafel bowl with rice, garlic sauce and greens. It was cooked perfectly!! The falafel were crispy and flavor! The rice was fragrant and the garlic sauce was *Chef's kiss*! Definitely had that home cooking feeling. The price point was not horrible either. I would've liked it to be around $10 a bowl instead of $12 but if the food is consistently delicious then it's worth it!! I wish I took a picture but it smelled so good that I stayed digging in right away! I'll be sure to post a picture next time. Reminded me of the wonderful tastes of Turkey - when I visited there several times in the early 2000's. Staff was very friendly. They used to be really good. My favorite was the meat kebab plate. Unfortunately they've gone down hill quality wise in the last 4-5 years. Not sure why exactly. This was a pretty good place. The last time I ordered the kebab it wasn't the same. I couldn't place why. So I didn't go back and I had been eating at local Greek places and I just never had and urge to go back. So that's the backstory. I went there recently for a VERY SIMPLE THING and it tasted like mush. It shouldn't be hard to make a chicken pita gyro. It also shouldn't be suuuuuper greasy. Not to mention the prices seem to have gone up a bit. That's my experience. I went from eating there all the time and loving it to eating there rarely and hating it. I doubt I'll be back. Personally went inside this establishment to order take out around 5ish since they have 4 stars. Was not impressed and I regret coming here instead of Pita Jungle. It's a quaint restaurant with a TV, but nothing extraordinary. The place was empty aside from staff (an older man and woman) and a group of the staff friends (one person appeared homeless). It appeared they were having a personal conversation of about 4-5 people, which is fine, but business comes first. The service was mediocre; didn't feel very welcomed and if anything felt like I was disturbing their meeting. Didn't place much mind because I was hoping at least the food would be great. The cashier woman left the group and took my order. After taking my order and stating it would only be a few minutes, she went back to the group to continue the conversation. They did not start working on the order until they finished the conversation about 10 mins after. Mind you I only ordered the "mixed grill" with no special request so the wait was excessive. The food was just ok. The proteins were decent, the salad and hummus were the best of the plate, and the rice was a bit greasy and had a strong curry flavor. I ordered "their best dish" so needless to say I expected a little bit more. The food wasn't horrible so I feel my rating is more than fair. read more

The reason for why to go to MedFresh is for the gyro wrap for $3 on Wednesday! I've been here a couple of times before and have gotten other things, however the deal I mentioned is a steal. You can either pick the regular gyro meat or chicken gyro which comes wrapped with garlic sauce, tomato, lettuce, pickles; it's served with a side of tzatziki. It's definitely very garlicky, so if you're not a huge fan, make sure to ask for little or no garlic sauce. Otherwise, I think that some of the other options are a bit overpriced for the quantity. Keep in mind that this is a very popular lunch spot, and they don't provide the quickest of service so give yourself a bit of time to go grab lunch! read more

The hummus was one of the best hummus that I've had. Creamy, but not too oily, good flavors. Best item on my plate. I didn't care for the tabouleh, but I liked the dolmas and baba ganouj. The hummus though really stands out. My friend had the chicken pita wrap combo with fries. When they called our number, they only had the fries and forgot the wrap! The guys apologized, but it was still a little annoying since it wasn't crowded. I'm not sure how long we waited for our food, but it wasn't fast. On the other hand, everything did taste fresh, so I'd rather wait for quality food. Parking can be a pain, but the food was definitely worth it. Great find in Tempe. Get the hummus. read more

Found this place a few years back on NYE when we stopped in to grab a drink. Been coming back ever since but usually we order to go and someone else picks up. This time I went myself. Noticed the lady taking the order wasn't too friendly as I smiled and she never smiled back. Then I tried to clarify my order and make small talk about a recent trip I had but she didn't care to hear about it haha. Thought maybe it was just me or she was having a bad night but saw her being friendly to others in the restaurant within her same culture. I really wanted to love this place, since it is run by one of the guys from Efes. But I couldn't even finish my meal. First of all, the meat is pre-cooked and microwaved to order. So if you enjoy chewing on tasteless meat for 10 minutes per bite, then you may enjoy this. The price is not cheap enough to forgo proper (and simple) cooking techniques. The hummus was, however, tasty. Although very familiar. I believe they may have bought it from Middle Eastern Bakery & Deli on 16th street. The salad that came with my meal was uninspired and I also found what I believe to be a fingernail fragment in it. I don't know. But it was unexpected as it crunched in my mouth. This place has some potential, but they really need to provide better ingredients and especially better preparation. As is, it's embarrassing to be called Turkish/Middle Eastern food. It's really the McDonald's of the genre. Also, please. The Mexican hot sauce does not belong in your restaurant, and especially not slathered on your pita bread. read more

The owners are from Istanbul, Turkey and i have been there myself, their food is very authentic and has a great taste. Turkish food is very similar to Arabic, mid-eastern food and its full of spices and taste, ect... Their red special secret sauce is incredible and i have not had it before! I suggest you try this place! Also i don't get how the owners are not friendly *although i have heard this before from someone* they are usually very nice to me, i think sometimes if you go at night when only 2 people are working and they are very busy they are a bit tense! I went to MedFresh Turkish Grill on Mill Avenue, a place I like for its awesomely filling Vegetarian Combo ($8.95). The large plate came with pita bread, hummus, baba ghanouj, tabouleh, dolmas and a Greek salad with homemade Greek dressing I would gladly replace my favorite ranch with any day.
