We ended up here Friday of labor day weekend when the first two places we tried to go were closed. It wasn't amazing, alas. My friend ordered pulled chicken and was sick to her stomach the rest of the day - whether it was cross contamination from pork (which she's allergic to) or overuse on antibiotics she wasn't sure. The rest of us didn't get sick but weren't super impressed either. My husband and I split a pulled pork + 1/2 chicken plate with baked beans and macaroni salad. The pork didn't taste smoky at all. The chicken was marginally better but still smoke didn't really permeate the meat. The beans were the best part, we liked those. The mac was all right. All in all, if you know good Bbq, it probably won't impress, but if you can't find anyplace open or are staying in the hotel next door, it is fast and they do give you a lot. So I don't know if today was a bad day or what but 4 of us ate here for lunch. The consensus was today's food was Garbage. It didn't matter if it was chicken or the pork. The chicken was tasty & juicy on the outside but it got extremely dry the more I dug into it. The greens & mac/cheese seemed leftover from days before and the mac/cheese was an off yellow color. I've been wanting to check out PGH bbq for quite some time. As soon as we walked in, the guys working were extremely friendly and helpful. Everyone had their masks on properly and their workspace was super clean. There are fresh, pre made meats and sides to choose from. When we arrived at around 7PM on a Friday they had plenty to choose from. We ended up getting 1lb of brisket ($20) and a rack of ribs. We also ordered a few single sides, potato salad, and coleslaw. Everyone's favorite part of dinner was the cornbread. It was $2.50 for a small piece, but wow! It was worth it. The ribs and brisket were good, and the sauces they gave on the side were very good as well. The ribs could have been a little more tender. I'm giving the food a 5!! Delicious chicken, ribs, pulled pork and the sides. We were staying at the comfort inn immediately across from the restaurant. I asked around for a great place and the front desk highly recommended it. So checked out the reviews and it got great ones. However, the staff was not friendly at all. Here's the email I wrote Oct 3, 2020 and received no reply. Prior to this experience I was a massive fan of Pittsburgh BBQ Company. My name is Will and I have been coming to enjoy Pittsburgh BBQ on Banksville for longer than I can remember. To celebrate our 5th anniversary my fiancee whom is a surgical OR Nurse was going to bring me home Pittsburgh BBQ Company as a surprise. This was yesterday, Friday. My fiancee left work early. This is unheard of for her since she works in the operating room as a nurse but since it was our anniversary her co-workers covered for her. On her way home she stopped to grab my gift at Target and then planned pick up Pittsburgh BBQ Company. The chicken is my favorite, the pulled pork sandwich is hers! As she was leaving Target she called to place an order over the phone for pickup. She called around 6:30 and expected to arrive less than 15 min before close. You will see from the attached screenshot she called at 6:29pm and was on the phone for less than a minute. The employee said phone orders are only for orders over $100. She was surprised considering COVID19 and the timing that they wouldn't take an order over the phone for pickup. The employee on the phone assured her it would be "hot and ready" when she arrived to be packaged up quickly and she would be good to go. As she worked her way through South Hills traffic and the closure of part of Fort Couch Road she became concerned about her timing. As she was down the road she wanted to make sure she didn't miss you by closing or making a mess for your employees minutes before closure she decided to call again. The same employee on the phone now said you were closed. The time being 6:56pm as you can see in the attached screenshot. I've worked in retail for over a decade including on the front lines at Giant Eagle for more than a decade. She also worked at Giant Eagle and now regularly works long shifts on her feet. We both feel sympathy to the workers during his extra difficult time and navigating covid safety. We are both extremely disappointed in the behavior of your employee and the representation of your business as a whole. As I said we are engaged. We've heard lots of good about All the Best Catering. In addition, I've been going to Pittsburgh BBQ Company on Banksville with my Dad and brother. I was extremely excited to introduce my fiancee to your food. I really hope you take my concerns seriously as this was a huge let down on a special day where she went out of her way to take care of me and your employee shut her down at every moment. Stopped in this little place next door to the hotel I stayed in. You just looks like a place that has good barbecue. And it does. I got the brisket great flavor, but this may be the tenderest brisket I have ever eaten. It is not to be missed. I also got the half a chicken. Didn't want that much but that's how it came so that's what I got. Seasonings on this chicken are very good and it is fall off the bone tender. These guys catered the Memorial Day event at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall in Oakland. My wife and I got a pulled pork sandwich with the Mac and cheese and baked beans to share. The Mac and cheese was pretty good and I enjoyed that there was a hint of pepper to it. The baked beans have a variety of beans which makes it a little more fun that your regular baked bean varieties. The pulled pork was quite good! There was a generous portion provided and it was still nice and moist. The homemade bbq sauce was just the cherry on top. I had to give one star in order to post a review otherwise it would have been none. This place had amazing Q last time I was in however, things change and this time it was bad. Sadly the brisket was cold and dry. The ribs, no exaggeration, the ribs were inedible. The slaw was good, Mac n cheese was good but it looked ancient. Listen I totally understand it's very difficult to keep Q looking good, and keeping it from drying out etc... This place is worth seeking out if you want amazing barbecue. I treated my boyfriend to takeout for his birthday and it didn't disappoint. Each of us just stuck to meats, but the sides also looked good. I had some of their rotisserie chicken, which was not seasoned like any I've had before and was hard to get out of the bag because it was actually falling off the bone. You just walk in, tell the folks behind the counter what you want, they ring you out, and your meal's boxed up for you to take away. Everything's ready to eat immediately. On a secret, gravel-studded street off of Banksville Road sits a house of stained wooden slats. Spectral vapors can be seen floating into the air from a tin chimney only to vanish into a powder blue sky that serves as a backdrop for an early Spring evening. A campfire aroma will comfort your nostrils as vehicles race up and down the highway--you will briefly forget that you're in a major Northeastern city. The other day, I treated my family to another bring-it-home banquet, finally getting down to trying PBC after years of procrastination. What we found were St. Louis Ribs that were fat with luscious pork that almost pulled itself from the bone and blushed when torn into. Speaking of which, the pulled pork sandwich was tall with protein, crisp skin, and sweet, blackened debris. A runny, vinegary sauce with just enough bite to it dressed the smoked animal flesh. Whatever fires that burned in our traps were extinguished by a fresh, vibrant, crunchy cole slaw. A lackluster macaroni and cheese was kicked out for loitering while a serving of baked apples arrived fashionably late, stealing the spotlight with its wealthy, fruity, pie-filling lava. If barbecue is a science, PBC should at least be nominated for a Nobel Prize. I only wish they'd add potato salad to their menu. If I could give 6 stars I would. Now with that said I really have no other choice but to tell you that yes I don't like vinegar based BBQ sauce and yes that's what they serve. So why in the world would the rating be so high? Well because I was given no other choice. After circling the area for an extra 5 min thanks to GPS we arrived at the pearly gates of BBQ heaven. Walking in Vince introduced himself to one of the very nice guys who seamed to be the manager. He came over introduced himself and even gave my boy some dabs. Once I found the menu on the right wall and had the girl at the register explain it a bit we went with 1/2 pound each of pulled pork, brisket and a ribs. The sides we chose were baked beans and corn bread. Once we had paid the girl at the counter remembered my sons name and said bye Vincent. I was very impressed. There is a single little bench outside that was open so we took a seat. Once we started to open stuff up we realized the girl that was next to us in line got our order and we get hers. It was an honest mistake. We ended up with a pound each of pulled pork and pulled chicken. She took the bag closest to her. So Bry went in told them what happened and reappeared 5 min later with a bit of everything they had. The pulled pork was my favorite. It was so tender and the flavor was perfect. The chicken tasted like it had been marinated in vinegar so it wasn't quite my thing. However it was cooked to perfection. The ribs were fall off the bone good even though they left the membrane on. One of the guys even told Bry there butcher takes the membrane off. So maybe they need to talk to the butcher. I have to agree the Mac and cheese isn't anything to rave about. It wasn't very creamy but My son likes it. The cornbread is amazing!!! The sauce is a vinegar sauce but it's not overpowering like so many places I have tried. I actually really liked the spicy sauce. The vinegar cut the spice nicely. The service hear is amazing and they go out of there way to make sure you are happy and understand that it's not just about the food it's about the entire experience. I am a BBQ snob. I've had BBQ from Memphis to Raleigh to Atlanta and beyond. I didn't expect anything great in PIT. I have to say though that this is some of the best bbq I have ever had. Like others have said, the sauce is really good without overpowering the meat. I had the ribs and the pulled pork. Both had very well balanced smoke and meat flavor. Not only is the BBQ top rate, but the sides are outstanding. The beans had 3 kinds of beans in them, were smoky, spicy and had nice big pieces of bacon. The cornbread had big kernels of corn and was dense and moist. My favorite were the baked apples. Think of the most tasty baked apples you have ever had and you are close to what these are - amazing. If you are within 50 miles of PIttsburgh and like BBQ, I would recommend making sure to stop here next time you are in the area. It is tucked behind a Days Inn, so keep your eyes out for the sign. This is excellent! If you want real pulled-pork, this is your spot. This is take-out only; there is no place to sit! Not a problem, just be aware. There is plenty of parking, so it's easy to swing by and carry out. The pulled-pork is just right. It has a slightly sweet, smokey flavor, and is very moist. They mix the pork well, so you'll get some stringy inside bits and some slightly charred "bark" outer bits, too, which I like. Their sides are excellent as well: The baked beans have a mix of bean types, and a bit of hot "bite" in the mix. The beans are not over cooked to mush like some BBQ places do. The corn-bread is very good, too. It is NOT sweet corn-bread (some BBQ places do sweet corn-bread that's more like a corn muffin). It is dense and heavy, but just tastes great. Finally, I find this place to offer a great value. I get a pound of pulled pork, some fresh buns (wrapped in foil, thank you), and a couple of sides and it feeds my family of five, sometimes with left-overs. read more

Found Pittsburgh BBQ by chance and are so happy we did. Had a fantastic fulling meal at a bargain price. The ribs were smoky and succulent. The brisket was out of this world. The sides were plentiful. The potato salad not to be missed. Ordered the collard greens on the pretense of a healthy side and would give that a pass next time.
