Amazing atmosphere. I mean, how can you not feel the weight of over 800 years when stepping into this place? The dining halls are just superb. The food, however, I wish I could say they draw from 800 years of experience. It's average and highly overrated. The service was alright but nothing really stellar. This is advertised to be one of the oldest restaurants in Europe, but there was nothing historic to see here, just black tables and chairs and white walls.There are so many tables jammed in the rooms you can hardly move and it's so busy, you can forget about personal service. We were so disappointed in the whole experience, we made reservations for our 30th anniversary weeks in advance, but we were sat at a table against the wall that was barely big enough to hold our meal. We couldn't even have a conversation it was so loud, and our server was mostly no where to be found.The food was meh, we ate at a lot better in town and paid a lot less. I'd say unfortunately this is a tourist trap. read more

We stopped in here for a drink one morning while visiting Wroclaw. It was kind of early to be having food, it was probably quite early to be having drinks actually and they were just opening up. We only went into the bar area however I walked through the dining room to get there so I will comment on the Decor. This place is seemingly about 600 years old and it has been restored to its former glory. Frankly it's probably better than it was back then. They have long tables and chairs and benches which are period Appropriate, at least they seem to be. This place is built in the basement of the big cathedral there in the Square. The back bar is quite dim and serves coffee and tea and juices, beer and drinks as well. The guy working at the bar was very nice and humored us, we sat in a booth that was huge and a velvet and plush with these huge velvet plush chairs on the other side. While he explored the place I happened to notice that there was another room adjacent with more tables and chairs also quite old looking, but how funny, there was a stage and a karaoke set up... Lol. Ok. They have a typical European coffee machine which we did not sample but it was huge and copper and gorgeous. Like everyplace in Europe when you order a soda you get a 6 ounce glass bottle for three dollars or so. They make a big production of pouring half of that 6 ounce bottle into a small glass for you. I guess that's why they're not so fat like Americans. There are no free refills here and if you want a bottle of water that will come in a 6 ounce glass bottle too. For three dollars. So we managed to escape the place with the bill of about $35 for the six of us which included several sodas several waters and a large beer which was probably cheaper than anything else. It also seems that they brew their own beer there if I'm not mistaken so that was nice. The food menu look like some typical Polish food however we never did eat anything there. read more

This restaurant might be the oldest restaurant in Europe, at least this is what you could read on their menu. It has been recommended to us in our hotel, which might mean, that this place might be a tourist trap. But it wasn't. Me and my colleague Peter were having a nice excursion to the Polish cuisine there, trying the "Zurek Soup" (a very similar to Czech "Kyselo", flavored with fermented bread yeast), two different sorts of "Pierogi", and a nice Polish fish. Yes, I have to admit that the service was not amazing, that the restaurant was full of oldish people in big groups, that we were not offered bread with the soup, and that it is not the restaurant I would seek when I would be in Wroclaw again. But you should not be scared of this place nevertherless. read more

This place was pretty disappointing. The waiter didn't have a drinks menu and didn't know what they had on offer, the place was basically empty, and despite ordering a couple soups and a pasta dish, we were told we couldn't order a side of potatoes as they had to accompany a meal. Potatoes. Seriously. I believe we've stumbled across the only restaurant in Europe where potatoes are not only a requirement, but are actually impossible to order, despite being on the menu. The soups were average and quite salty, and the pasta was a pretty poor effort. I could cook better than this, and I've had way better food from some of the families I've stayed with while touring around Poland. Wroclaw is a big place. Yummy!!!! We had no clue on how to pronounce the restaurant name but we sure ate our bellies happy. Deliciously seasoned, tender and generous proportion of food. Being Jamaican I only expected plain potatoes or bland meat. Not here, not ever. read more

The restaurant is very well located, the menu is both in polish and in english, the waiters were very friendly, the service was quick and the portions are of good size. However the food did not meet the expectations. I ordered the mountain trout with potatoes and spinach plus a salad on the side. The fish was very well cooked but unseasoned and tasted a bit muddy because this. The spinach was mixed with heavy cream and was also lacking salt, leaving a horrible greasy aftertaste (couldn't eat it, believe me I tried), the salad was a very generous portion but the vinaigrette sauce was too sweet (should be slightly bitter...). The best part were the potatoes, absolutely perfect! Very tasty and crispy on the outside, very smooth on the inside, so good I ate them all. I wouldn't repeat the experience, after trying the food I think the prices are too high for the quality the restaurant provides, the only justification for it might be the location. read more
