I ate in the restaurant downstairs and the mood and location is fantastic, as it's right in the heart of the action and fit the authentic old style Polish mood. The down side is that it's not only authentic but it's a bit dated. Stopped in here later in the evening for some food and some drinks. There are at least two separate and distinct dining areas downstairs, and then there is also a lot of outdoor dining on the Square. There is no buddy waiting for you when you walk in so it is really quite confusing. You can't tell if you're supposed to see it yourself, or wait for somebody else, and there is no hostess or anything like that. When we had wandered into the more slightly formal area, there was a couple waitresses sitting on chairs in the service station slouched texting on their phones and they pointedly ignored us, even when we tried to ask them where we should sit so finally I got fed up and decided I would sit where I wanted. Once we got seated somebody wandered over to us maybe five or six minutes later after I approached the bartender and asked him to get us some service. Once the service got going it was OK, our food came out in a relatively decent amount of time and our drinks as well. The food was great! With that said however I ordered a pork knuckle and they charge me for a pork knuckle which I didn't happen to notice until the next morning because I don't speak Polish, and I never did get that so they charged us extra however it was probably only five or six dollars. The food was all freshly prepared, it was the typical heavy Polish food, and the flavors were good. This is stick to your ribs Eastern European food. Don't look for salad and vegetables here LOL. I like to think that I am a pirogi connoisseur and theirs get a solid 3.5 out of five. The building itself is kind of them and I liked the atmosphere but it's too bad the staff kind of ruined it. And lastly, the restrooms are in the center between the dining rooms. They keep the doors open so you can see people in there essentially using the restroom and it's funny because they don't have that gender issue that the United States has, there were women standing in the men's restroom talking to men and they were men standing in the women's restroom talking to women it was quite humorous actually and nobody had a fit, nobody was screaming, nobody was even noticing that there were different people in the same bathroom. read more

If it's "bier haus" look they trying to preserve then clean it up and take those flat screen TV's that are hanging on each wall and killing the vibe.
