The pizza had good flavor but was burnt from being reheated and not thoroughly. Would be good if fresh. The Caesar salad had some weird vinaigrette/mayonnaise mixture, (tasted flowery). This was their so called Caesar dressing . And on top of salad was like the leftover crumbs from crouton bag dumped on it. The service was ok but they only had one server working the lunch hour on a Friday. So they were understaffed. The ambiance was ok but too dark. You're not a steak house, turn up the lights a little. I see all of these reviews and no one mentions that it is on the other side of Philips Street. I posted a picture of the door and hopefully that helps. On the other hand, I suppose that you could enter from the bar, Hi Hello (or is it Hello Hi). Basically, if you're on Philips Street, there really isn't a sign pointing you to Pizza Cheeks. Hi Hello (or Hello Hi) has a pizza neon sign in their window, but that doesn't really mean anything other than they maybe serve pizza because it sure doesn't say Pizza Cheeks inside. The NY style pizza is really good. It's a little on the saltier side, but I still found myself wanting another slice. And I probably should've gotten two slices, but I opted for the focaccia that is on their menu. It was bread. Nothing more. I ordered dipping sauces for it, but the bread itself was bland. read more

This was the first time we tried pizza here. I had the cheeseburger and my husband had a pepper and onion pizza. The topping and sauce on both were good but the crust -which should be the best part-was off. Tasted like they used some low grade flour. Use some better flour and I think the pizzas would be much better! The host was friendly and the server was ok. If I went back I might try the pasta but not sure I'd get another pizza. The house salad looked great but was served in such a small bowl that the lettuce kept spilling out. Great amount of salad but please use a slighter larger bowl. Overall it was ok. read more

I've tried the Minnesota location twice and have been let down both times. The Hello Hi location is delicious, so for this to not meet the mark is sad. First time I ordered a pizza for pick up. I knew the wait time was long, but they got it out to us surprisingly quickly, like in only 10-ish minutes. When we got home we saw why it was so quick, the pizza was a mess! Nothing like the other reviews or pictures I've seen of the same pizza (Burger Time). I still think about how that pizza tasted because it wasn't good. More recently I ordered a pizza to be delivered. Order went through around 4:16 with projected delivery time to be 5:31. No problem. I kept checking the tracker to see where the pizza was. But I didn't get a message or see the tracker move until 5:28. From there the pizza took about as much time as I expected to get here, so it arrived at 5:44. Which considering I put the initial order in at 4:06 was kind of crazy. When it did get to my home I didn't hear a knock. The delivery driver simply put it on the cold snowy ground and left. I understand delays because of weather, but in hindsight the delivery driver took exactly the amount of time I was expecting. So was it something in the restaurant that held it up? Especially since the pizza wasn't even that good. It was bland and I immediately had to put it in the oven because it was cold. Which I also expected. However, do they not have the delivery bags that other pizza places have? I've gotten pizza delivered from other places on Minnesota avenue and it's always been hot. Basically, I'm confused. Maybe the Kaladis building is cursed. Either way, spending almost $35 on a pizza that was cold and mid and took nearly 2 hours to get made me grumpy. Especially when I was looking forward to the good pizza I've had from the brand in the past. First photo is the pizza from my first visit. (Burger time, in total around $20). Second is pizza from recent experience, which is much better but disappointing considering it cost $34, was cold, and took almost 2 hours. (It's the meatball one). Hope they can figure out how to stop having these "off days" because I've had them each time despite each visit being a couple months apart. read more

The pizza was delicious. We ordered the Cheeks Deluxe and the Meat Sweats. The crust was chewy and crispy, the sauce was spot on, and the toppings were balanced perfection. Not greasy, and not a half inch of cheese drowning out everything else. We also had the cheese bread, which was delicious. We've been looking for pizza like this since we left the Twin Cities, and we simply loved it. The server was excellent, bringing us boxes without being asked. We'll definitely be back, and are looking forward to trying some other pizzas and appetizers. Cool sports bar atmosphere, and they have an arcade with pinball machines. Great place! read more

If New York Pizza means adding pecorino Romano then give New York back to the Indians. Had heard several good reviews and comments from acquaintances however our first experience was less than stellar. Brought out of town guests and even their limited palate was unimpressed by their $32 Pizza. Light on the toppings and the cheese was disgusting. May come back to try the pasta but Pizza is a 100% hard no. Side salad was interesting and quite good which I hoped portended a great pizza. NOT. read more

This was first visit to Pizza Cheeks and we had heard good things about it. We had the sweet meat pizza (sorry I don't know the exact name of the pizza) and it was delicious. I asked for a side of their "Hot Honey " sauce on the side because it had been recommended by others. That was a good choice. I have not had honey on pizza before but it was good. And I didn't think the honey was too hot. Our waitress was very helpful in recommending menu items as well. For dessert we had the "Brownie Tiramisu ". Wow this was delicious. I would recommend splitting it with someone because it's a large serving. Highly recommend this place for pizza. read more

This is my new favorite pizza place that I have been to. This and Evel Pie in Las Vegas. The inside of the place is real cool. You wouldn't know how to get in from the street though but I found our way there. The guy that served us from the counter was friendly and fast. If you ask anyone in Sioux Falls, they'll tell you Pizza Cheeks is the best pizza in town. And it absolutely is. Did you know it's also the best GLUTEN FREE pizza in town? I was so excited to learn they offer gluten free crusts, and not only are they GF, but it actually may be the BEST GF pizza crust I've ever had, for real. The toppings are high-quality and the flavor is fantastic. The only downside is they are located in the Hello Hi, which is a bar (and a great bar, with ridiculous drinks and the friendliest bartenders), and so they have bar hours and bar restrictions. I was drinking and eating there on the front patio at 4pm one day when a family that got slices was told they couldn't sit there and eat because not everyone in their party was 21+, so they awkwardly stood around two feet away eating before walking away. I understand these rules and regulations aren't their fault, but people should be advised that you can't eat there with minors, inside or outside. And, because it's a bar, those bar hours are sometimes inconvenient, or just not what I want to deal with (I don't always want to be around alcohol). read more

I called in a takeout order for a large margarita pizza. I arrived early. The reception/cashier person was pleasant. A kitchen person delivered to me at the time I had been told to pick it up. When I got home, I opened the box to discover that the pizza was sev burned. on every piece, the majority of the crust was burned black and the rest of each piece had multiple burned black places. The parts that weren't burned were dried up, tough to chew, lacking in taste. Undoubtedly, the worst pizza I have ever had. I understand that mistakes happen in a kitchen, but this pizza should never have been given to a customer, especially one that was going to take it home before discovering its condition. read more

This pizza really wanted to be good but unfortunately I can only judge it based on what showed up in my box and this time around it just wasn't. I ordered a Marge and when it arrived, there were two things that ruined the experience. The first issue was that it was just overcooked. There's crunchy Pizza and then there's overcooked Pizza that comes out tasting like cardboard. This was the latter. Second the saltiness near the center of the pie was not as overdone and some of the flavors were able to come through. Taking a bite of the center of the pizza, my mouth immediately puckered up from the extreme amount of salt on the pizza. Don't get me wrong -- it is a tough task to balance the salt between the sauce the crust and all the different layers of cheeses and on my pizza, it simply missed the mark. read more

My wife and I split a couple slices and the foccacia sticks. The pizza was really good, but the foccacia sticks just blew us away. They had fabulous pockets for cheese or sauce, a great chew, and the perfect char to balance out the different flavors in your mouth. They are a must get if you go! read more

My wife and I were here visiting in Sioux Falls and found this place on Yelp. We had two salads with more croutons than salad, and ended up ordering an XL build your own pizza because they refused to add anything to their 'custom' creations. We were told that each of their pizzas has a very specific flavor profile that will NOT be altered. Seriously?!? Okay, fine. We then built our own; which was a copy of the all meat but with extra sausage, roasted garlic, & mushrooms. What we received was a salty pie with a more than 3 inch burnt crust border. There were no toppings, the pizza was BARE! We even called over the server to see if he could see any of the extra toppings and after looking he shrugged his shoulders in embarrassment and offered to discount the toppings. I literally signed up for Yelp because I saw PC had a one star review. Bummer that person had a singular bad experience and felt compelled to write a review. Here is a proper review. Pizza Cheeks offers the closest thing to NY slices as I've tasted in the pizza wasteland that is South Dakota. The slices are thin, foldable, and have a rich flavor combination that doesn't overwhelm or taste doughy. The whole pies are cooked well and huge. The crust is a fine NY style that has a nice flake to it but which isn't flakey. Getting a pizza by the slice is always a gamble. It's a cooked pizza reheated, and if you get a pie that's been out for a while, it can taste less fresh or perhaps get that result where it's a bit rubbery. This will happen anywhere that serves slices. I'm just grateful there is a place in town who sells slices that are big and flavorful. As a person who eats far too much pizza, it's nice to pick up a slice and not be forced to eat an entire pie at home like some kind of monster. If you're out on the town, Hi Hello is a lovely tiki environment for a slice and a drink. Fortunately for you PC is located in the back of the bar. As a vegetarian, I'm hopeful the owners will incorporate some faux meats (beyond sausage for example pairs quite well). I didn't know what to expect since at least one of the people involved created Bread and Circus but I like their food as well and it's good to see the attention to taste and detail carry over into this venture. I encourage the previous reviewer to give the restaurant another chance (try a whole cheese pie as you can tell the most about a pizza place by their most basic form). Well done, pizza cheeks. Born and raised in NYC so when it comes to pizza I feel I'm a very good judge. Now I can tell you that when I judge I always go with the plain cheese. If you can't get that right you have a problem. What I liked about this pie was the size and quality. The pie was on the salty side which was probably from the grated cheese. The sauce was a little thicker than I like. Now here is the biggest gripe I found. The crust was very light and fluffy. A real NY slice can hold its own weight. Not to say it wasn't tasty, but it had almost a Neapolitan style crust to it. Which is good but not true NYC pizza. The other fact I didn't care for was the NY price lol. 24 dollars for a plain pie. That's way out of the park for a pie that at best is worth 17.
