This location apparently has set low standards. I came in for a quick bite as they have a buffet for lunch. The warmer lights don't offer enough heat to keep the pizza warm, but since there are only two slots for a pie, it doesn't last. To improvise they will make the pie into thirds for toppings. I walked in and it was a good ten minutes before anyone came into the dining area for service not only at my table, but any of the 10 tables. Pizza was OK. They also have a salad bar which is dimly lit and just a few toppings. There was plenty of turnover at the tables. Set your expectations low and you will walk away satisfied. read more

Ok where do I start. Paid $37 for a royal feast and made it a king , what I got was a huge thick topping of half melted cheese covering up the little amount of toppings underneath. I've ordered the royal feast many times and always loaded but for the last extra to "make it a king" is a scam , pulled the cheese layer off and little to no toppings underneath . We had a party of 5 and the waiter was right there when we showed up. We placed our order and when we received our order their was visible hair baked into our bread sticks. We brought this up and they didn't do anything about it. The pizza was good. We had to ask for refills when cups was noticeable empty. We went to check out and my party went outside and I waited 10 minutes to pay because they couldn't find our ticket. Then the waiter asked what we had because he couldn't find our ticket. Nothing was altered or removed for the hair in the bread sticks. Also to make matters worse WE WERE THE ONLY ONES IN THE WHOLE RESTAURANT GUEST WISE AND THEY COULDN'T KEEP TRACK OF ONE TICKET. Showed up at 11:40 for the lunch buffet and all the doors were locked. Rang the bell 4+ times and knocked multiple times with no response. Even called on 3 different phones no answer, all while it says they are open online. Dont waste your time. read more

Total miss. One of the slowest services I've dealt with in recent memory. It could have been a fluke but the service was slow, and the pizza was of low quality and construction. They do have a buffet during lunch hours but thats something readers will have to see for themselves. If I was local, I'd probably give it another shot, but in a town of this size, a business cannot afford such a low standard. It was low for this visit. This was terrible...I don't know where to start. Cold pizza...so cold the cheese was hard and rubbery (see picture) and the toppings tasted old. First of all, I'm in Portland Indiana for business reasons. Far as I can tell, there really isn't much to come here for unless you like rural settings and low income white folks. This town is so isolated that there isn't even one lousy Yelp review...not one! Rather than sit in my hotel room, which reeks of bug spray by the way, I decided to take a chance and see what the heck is out there. Hotel clerk recommended a couple of chains, a Buffalo Wild Wings ripoff named Buffalo Wings and Rings, (I decided against this as Tuesday was Biker Night), and a couple of local pizza joints including this one. King Pizza is kind of a small chain. I guess the owner lives in the Muncie area and is pretty well thought of. I decided to give their pizza a shot. Except for the signs, it's kind of hard to tell if the building has a pizza place or not. Building looks like one of the strip office buildings featuring dentists and accountants. One of the cooks stepping out for a smoke from a door marked Employee's Only kind of clued me that this was indeed a pizza place. Inside of the place was kind of small and a bit funky, if you dropped anything smaller than a dollar on the floor, you would let it lie rather than pick it up. There were about 10 tables and benches, they all came with laminated menus and red phones so that you can call in your order from the table. God help you if you are hearing impared. Table, bench, phone and laminated menu had some kind of sticky film on it. The fact that it was 95 degrees out and humid didn't help much. I ordered the ultimate veggie which has the standard mushrooms, green peppers, onions, black olives, etc. It took about twenty minutes to prepare. There is a flat screen TV in the corner to keep the customers from having to talk to each other and there was a juke box as well. I didn't want to play it as the only other customer in the place had kind of a Jeff Dahmer look about him. Also took a look at their "buffet" which had to be the worst excuse for a buffet I ever saw, some dried up sausage pizza, some kind of fish, and some other crap I couldn't identify. Place doesn't serve alcohol...soda only. Pizza came and you know what? It wasn't bad. Sauce was acceptable, lots of cheese, generously topped with veggies as well. Crust was nice and crisp. It wasn't head and shoulders above a doctored up DiGiorno's but it was good. I can imagine being shit faced drunk and thinking this stuff was the bomb if I was a college kid. Unfortunately, my college days are behind me and this joint doesn't serve alcohol so being OK will have to suffice. read more

I grew up in Portland and Pizza King is still my favorite pizza, but on a recent trip through town we decided to stop here. There was only 1 waitress, all of the tables were dirty with dishes, and the floor was a mess. We decided to stay, but wish we hadn't. The entire time we waited for our pizza, nothing changed in the dining room. Another couple came in and sat at a dirty table and the waitress never offered to wipe it off. The pizza was as good as ever, but I don't think we will ever come back, unfortunately, because I have such fond memories of this place back in the day. read more

Always have loved Pizza King. Ordering a regular pizza or having it delivered is way too expensive. Head in & eat off of the buffet. More bang for your buck & The Owner has been renovating & fixing up the place. PK is a local Indiana chain that is very good Pizza that you won't find outside of Northern Indiana. Really good Pizza here at Portland's Pizza King. But what is really great is their noon special Monday through Friday from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. All you can eat pizza and salad and even some vegetables and sides of meats for only $ 4.99. The food is hot and the place is usually packed so get there early. Free refills on drinks. read more

Wish I didn't even have to give a single star here. Called 53 minutes ago and placed an order for delivery....no pizza. So I called in to check on my order. Maybe the driver got lost, the pizza didn't get made, order was delivered to wrong address, etc. I called in to be put on hold immediately. I sat on hold for 10 minutes. They forgot they had even put me on hold. So I called back but only got busy signals. When I finally DID get through I was met with, "Dude, we're busy." Uhh yeah...and that's my problem why? This Pizza King isn't actually affiliated with the rest of the chain. That's why the food at this Pizza King isn't as good as the other Pizza King restaurants. They use cheap ingredients and the furniture in the place is a mish-mash of random dining room sets. It looks like a garage sale in there. They're also pretty expensive. read more

Ordered 16" Royal feast pizza 2 orders of bread sticks wings and a 2 liter because I had a coupon kids were hungry and wanted pizza for our family road trip to see my family in northern Michigan and ended up with a undercooked soggy mess of a pizza and bread sticks with no cheese sauce. had no time to call and do anything about it so I decided to just stop by a McDonald's on my way . I call back two days later when we got home and decided to try to give them another chance kids wanted pizza they didn't get and just wanted to explain what happened to them to try and keep it from happening again so I ask for the manager who pretty much called me a liar and treated me very rudely I didn't ask for a refund or anything was going to order food but after that changed my mind if you want pizza in Portland go to any other place this particular pizza king I have yet to have a good experience seems they can't find a good staff and there pizza is never as good as any other pizza king around read more

The last two times I called to order pizza for delivery they said we close in twenty minutes and order taker acted pissed to take the order and the next time I called for pizza delivery same order taker said he couldn't deliver pizzas because he was only person working. Pizza taste is good when you can get it. But order taker has an attitude problem and needs a lesson in being more courteous to the customers.
