Fireaway Pizza Thornton Heath - The storefront. Not that many tables but open kitchen included.

It's been open quite a few months. Part of a small chain. They specialise in customisable pizza…read more They have lots and lots of choices for toppings and for 9gbp you can add as many as you like. That and high temperature fire Owen is their marketing strategy. No wood burning owen, just gas one so I didn't have much faith in the place. On the other hand the area does not have much in terms of great casual restaurants as far as I know so in a desperate move I gave it a chance. I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered one of their mixes - burner (slightly cheaper and I always assume that the chef has recommended things that go very well together). It was not hot despite the name. On the other hand it did come out very quickly and was piping hot. Great crisp on the sides and super thin in the middle. Spread of ingredients wasn't much to write home about and dough quality wasn't impressive either, they didn't even offer any extra shavings of parmesan or olive oil. On the other hand there was something good in it. I quite enjoyed the pizza, given on a wooden tray. Not a super soft and sophisticated, nor was it Italian (too many ingredients and too big choice of them) but I really liked it. The crust had just the right consistency and it was very enjoyable experience. Easily better than any of the big delivery chains. The place is quite spacious but it has only 4 tables. It got full while I got there, though it seemed to be because of people ordering takeaway. Might be a good place to take your kids as they offer dessert pizzas including Nutella pizza. I'm too conservative for this one. Not sure if they have toilet to be honest, on the other hand Mon - sat there is a Tesco with free toilet a stone throw away. Overall, if you are in Thornton heath and are happy with a slightly loud and somewhat rustic locale, go for it. Pizza won't be best you've ever had but it will be a very good version of your normal pizza.

I am pretty loyal to my normal pizza place, but with 20% off I decided to give Pizza GoGo a try. The delivery was a couple minutes late, but in all fairness the window was kind of narrow, so that's forgivable. It arrived within about 50-minutes of ordering and the driver was polite and friendly. The pizza: I bought a medium (only big enough for one adult) Pepperoni Plus with a thin crust. It was good and satisfying, pretty standard as far as pizzas go, but a lot better than some of the bland offerings out there. The wings: THESE WERE SO GOOD! I don't generally like wings that are dripping in BBQ sauce, but these wings were so fat and so juicy - oh, man. Just delicious. All in all, I spent £12.42 (£10.95 pizza, £3.95 wings, £0.50 card surcharge, -£2.98 with 20% off deal). I think it was worth it with the coupon. It's unlikely I'll order from Pizza GoGo again and pay full price given the pricing and portions, when compared to other takeaways. That said, if I happened to be walking by, I would absolutely walk in and buy more of those wings.

I know that is a very, VERY bold statement, but as…read morean American who has tried more pizza than I probably should admit to, all in the crazy effort to find the perfect slice of pepperoni (just like home!)...I stand by it. I've been all over the place and tried all kinds of pizza: the good, the bad, the ugly. THIS is the best of the best. I order the meal deal, where for a totally reasonable £11.99 you get a large pizza (thin or deep pan--I always go thin), grilled chicken wings, a slice of cake and a can of pop. The pizza: Thin crust American Hot without jalapenos. This means a 12" pizza loaded with pepperoni, cheese, and mushrooms. It's always hot and fresh--and ALWAYS delicious. The pepperoni is traditional American style with a slight kick, and the cheese is stringy when you pull away a slice. Perfection. The chicken wings: These are really good and always different. Sometimes they are Peri flavoured, sometimes they have a BBQ sauce, sometimes they are just plain grilled. There's no telling which you'll get on any given day, but it really makes no difference since they always taste nice. The chocolate cake: Yum. Rich, moist, and generously portioned. I've also on occasion had the whole Peri chicken and spicy rice, and they are fantastic. I order from here a couple times a month and after many, many (very friendly!) deliveries, I have yet to be disappointed by anything this restaurant sends out.

Napoli Pizza offers a great selection of toppings and some good BOGOF collections deals. I enjoyed a Mozzarella, Aubergine, Pepper and tomato pizza. The deep pan base was lovely and the mozzarella was lighter and creamier than your standard fare. Overall a good, superior pizza from the norm.

My first (and probably only) order from Pizza Napoli…read more I ordered 2 pizzas, 1 salad, and 3 dips... Not the longest order in the world. This was at 02:30 After being on the phone with the delivery guy for 15 minutes, trying to tell him how to get to the building (which is very simple to access, lit up and on the main road), I had to go out of my building and meet him outside as he could still not find the entrance. Turns out he was looking for the wrong address although the address was printed correctly on his note and on my order. But wait, there is more: he only gives me 2 pizzas and 2 dips and tells me he is in a hurry but that I should ask Pizza Napoli to take the money for the salad and other dip out of my next order... I asked him "what if I don't want to make a next order?" and he just says "Sorry mate..." and leaves. When I looked at the time it was 04:15, so almost 2 hours later... The pizzas were cold and the conclusion is one: Never again shall I order anything from Pizza Napoli...

I have tried most things on the menu and have never made a bad choice. Their pizzas are spectacular - dough which is tasty, springy and light with a crispy bottom, absolutely perfect for dipping in your friend's spag bol! They make their own secret recipe tomato sauce, which is AMAZING. (Actually it's not a secret recipe at all - Raff will happily share how he makes it, but it sounds more intriguing as a secret!) They have a daily specials board that includes local seasonal produce in really imaginative dishes. I have gone into the kitchen to watch the chefs making a crab ravioli, moments before I ate it! (It was sublime!) Their desserts are too good. They have their regular items such as the tiramisu which melts in the mouth and the Italian ice cream that has real bits of strawberry, pistachio, vanilla seeds and chocolate in it. They also have special desserts that often are just too tempting - sticky toffee pudding, Eton mess with mango, interesting cheesecakes etc. The coffee is delicious and just perfect after a scrumptious meal there! The service is lovely and the atmosphere is down to earth, fun and friendly. I would urge you to go - if you go on a Thursday/Friday/Saturday you might want to book as it is extremely popular with locals.
