This is the second PR I have been to. My first experience at a location in Peoria, IL was equally excellent. I'm surprised by the mediocre reviews PR has received. When I arrived, the place was a madhouse. There were several sections that were reserved for groups of school kids (not a bad field trip destination for a Friday!) and there was very little pizza available. To pass the time until the next surge of pizza from the kitchen, I grabbed a plate and loaded it with some salad, corn, mashed potatoes and fried chicken. The fried chicken is really tasty. It had excellent crispiness and juicy flavor. They also offered fried fish on Friday which was pretty tasty too. After I was done with that initial plate, I moved onto the pizza. To my delight, they had brought out several pizzas and all the slices I had were very good-on par with Pizza Hut's pizza, which I think is good fast food pizza. The standout slices were the cheese stuffed crust pepperoni and the cheeseburger pizza. I went back for another slice of each! They also have a soft serve ice cream machine, but pizza is a much better desert anyway!!!! Pizza the Ranch offers a delicious array of buffet items for a little less that $11, which includes a drink. If you are willing to weather the storm of lunch patron craziness, I highly recommend the Ranch over any buffet restaurant in the area. If I had known about the Ranch earlier in the week I would have visited at least 3 times the week I was in Mankato. *Tip 1* They take requests-tell management what type of pizza you want them to make and they will make it. **Tip 2** Check out the indoor half basketball court - the most random form of entertainment I have ever seen at a buffet! read more

The food is the only thing that saved the night. They had what appeared to be a couple of families of home schoolers working. At first I thought great kids doing what adults won't do. Then they started wandering in circles, stopping to creepily stare at you to empty a plate. Now one of the older ones cleans a tables. He saturates the napkins, salt and pepper shakers with a stream cleaning solution from about 3' away. I tell myself, not my circus, not my monkeys. Now the little girl is mining boogers with the cleaning rag. Sweet Jesus! The 4-6 adults that were their family did nothing but jabber as about 8 of the kid workers scoured the dining hall like a Children of the Corn Flick. It was weird and the one dark hair adult helping them was just as creepy. Lurking for you to take the last bite so he can swoop in and grab your plate. read more

The picture sums up this experience. I was here during the lunch rush and you think they would plan for it, right? Well no. Lots of empty stuff that stayed empty my whole 40 minutes here. Fried chicken, waffle fries, dessert pizza, good pizza, etc. Recovery was awful at best. Hey, at least they had corn! Mmmm. And what is with Mankato residents and green olives? Good lord, 50% of their choices had green olives. Green olives and pineapple, green olives and pepperoni, green olives and cheese! Who ordered all of this? I know its a big buffet thing the pizza is ok but the broasted chicken is great!!!! way above better than average crispy and juicy with good flavor only caveat they need to add a cajun seasoning as a sprinkle on . The salad bar is a bonus . Not something we get up here in the frozen wasteland of mn. Two pizzas that are good are the buffalo chicken and the broccoli chicken Alfredo both super good. read more

Pretty sure they will make me put one star when I don't want to give them any. I have ordered delivery from them a lot. I don't have a car and so I order out Ordered last night and the delivery person decided to steal from me and forge my name I found our because my card emailed me to let me know difference in total charged. When I called to deal with this I was put on hold for 20 or more mins. Was told a manager would be coming to speak w me right away then found out when I had to call back that they weren't sure when anyone would be coming-- did they call to let me know that NO I had to call them. Then told again someone coming right away and 30 mins later some one shows up. This is not that big of a town, not like they had to wait for food either. I will never order from pizza ranch again. The way I was treated was horrible. Like the money stolen was not large so what was my problem. The look on the managers face was flat blank. When I said theft is theft and it's forgery he just stared at me blankly like I was speaking something other than English. The driver should be fired !!! I had to sign something stating it was not my Signature and the amount charged was wrong. I understand it was done to prove it was not my signature. I was handed cash back and he was ready to leave without even an apology. With him asking me "what more can I do?" I said an apology would be nice, letting me know you will be speaking to them. Letting me know they would be fired. So that is when he apologised. Doesn't mean much when I pointed out he hadn't offered on. So, I will never order again. I would suggest if you don't want to be stolen from to not order from them. If you have ordered from them you might want to check your card statements or internet to make sure your card was charged the correct amount. Some May say it's only a small amount and it was me not you but if they stole from me I'm sure I was not the first person they did this to and if they keep this person it won't be the last time they steal from anyone. And to be treated by management as if your patronage has no value whatsoever. Truly disappointed. But more irritating. I'm so livid that this happened and how I was treated valueless. read more

This is the type of place I loved to go to as a kid: Jam-packed with dessert pizza, endless wells of bacon bits, and "chicken" in the shape of french fries. Now, as an adult, I realize why our trips to buffet-style eateries were few and far between: Because the food is awful and they don't have a liquor license. If you want to stuff your face with as much z-grade frozen food as you can get for nine bucks, by all means, spend an evening at your neighborhood Pizza Ranch. I only go here if my friends are going, and we're usually hungover and just looking to fill our stomachs with greasy food. But wow, this place should be avoided, especially on Sundays. The food area is so small, you feel like a herd of animals fighting your way to get the freshest pizza. Pizza you like isn't available? You better hope they bring it out to you or wait for them to cook it for you, which may take a while. It's hard to navigate through the screaming children to get where you need to be - I hope you're very patient. Even then, the pizza isn't that good! Ever been to CiCi's or whatever? This is a few tiers below that, and that's saying something. I feel like everything was frozen, put together, and baked by people who could care less about how you think it tastes, they just want you to get out. I'll give them one thing, the coffee is alright. Came on college night and only one buffet got the college price, which I'm pretty sure wasn't the right discount to begin with (only like $1 off). Restaurant had food all over the floor and was really dirty. Barely any pizza out the whole time, very little other food out as well. When you go to a pizza ranch you expect to have an all you can eat experience with food that's hot and edible and that's exactly what the Mankato PR delivers. THE FOOD Every time I've been there the food has been consistently ok. The pizza is not spectacular but I do like the Stampede (thin crust) and the PR will also be happy to make the pizza of your choice. The chicken is a standout. It is crunchy and seasoned - salty good. I find myself eating several portions unashamed each time I visit. The salad bar is nothing special but the variety of toppings and dressings will not disappoint anyone who wants a salad with all the fixin's. SERVICE & CLEANLINESS The staff is attentive and manages to keep the restaurant clean. The salad bar never gets unruly and the tables are cleaned promptly when the patrons leave. They also keep each diner's table clean and orderly by removing dishes that no longer serve a purpose without disrupting a diner's meal. THE SKINNY ON PR If you are looking for a reasonably priced buffet for yourself or the family then saddle up and hit the local PR. Went here for a friends babygirls birthday party. When first went to Check In lady in front was just rude. While we were all eating , took a while for the employees to pick up our food from the table. Not worth your money if your going to have a party here and eat. read more

This place is in need of a good cleaning. We were first in the door when they opened for dinner, and the tables looked like they hadn't been wiped down from lunch. The napkin dispensers on the table are disgusting, and the lower window panes are all smudged with nasty little hand and fingers prints. There is an odor to the place that smells like it just needs a good cleaning. read more

The pizza and cheese bread I got here were excellent, but the service I experienced was not. I had never been before and was confused on what to do, and it was really never explained to me. Thankfully I had a friend who knew what to do. I also wanted some soup, but there were no bowls to put it in from the time I went in to the time I left. Not the best place to get pizza. It lacks originality. Pre-made frozen crust I'm sure. Its so so.. I try to avoid when co-workers suggest.

Knowing that this location gets busy after 5pm on Fri and Sat nights; we were able to call ahead to reserve a couple tables for 12 people. The manager was very accommodating. With that said during the busy times the pizza buffet can become empty quick and at times the resturant does not recover well. The fried chicken is very good when done properly. 25% of the time the chicken appears to be dry. The dessert pizzas are good. There is a small basketball court for kids and 1 dedicated room for reservations. There is another area that is usually used for reservations/large groups. It seems the staff do not have the appropriate equipment to handle clearing the tables effectivly. read more

You can eat tons of okay food here cheaply. Nothing is very flavorful, including the pizza, but it's cheap and filling.

The last 2 birthday parties I've hosted here employees have been very rude and unaccomidating. Last year they ( the female assistant manager) put the wrong reservation date down and were rude to me about it. This year they refused to give me the bunker room because I "didn't have a bug enough group" (my group was 20-40people) when we didn't all fit they (the female assistant manager again) would not allow us to have extra chairs to put on the ends of tables. The group in the bunker room shows "party of 20" so clearly we should have been able to book the bunker room with my 20-40. I think after 2 years of this I'll take my $400+ party to Jakes or Godfathers pizza. Really disappointed as this has been our go to location for 5+ years, used to be a lot better service. Worst Pizza Ranch ever. I loved Pizza Ranch growing up as a kid and have been to many over the years. I have taken my kids to this Pizza Ranch a handful of times and every time I say I'll never go back. The service is slow and forever running behind the demand- no silverware/plates/food/straws/etc. My son asked to go here for his birthday- he specifically asked for his favorite pizza when we paid ("Buffet Your Way"). An hour later it still hadn't appeared. Such a disappointment. Don't waste your time or money. read more

We were here for a birthday party for a 3 year old in a function room for about 15 right off the main dining room.. The pizza was adequate enough, but what overshadowed anything about the food was how FILTHY the floor was in the function room: one of the other kids there was running around with her shoes off and her feet got very dirty --dark brown/black. The door handles everywhere were sticky, and the ladies' room did not smell fresh, and it looked like the door and handles had not been washed in years. The parents of the child having the party said they were very disappointed and would not book a function here again. read more

I have eaten at other Pizza Ranches and had good experience but I had a not so good experience here. I went to eat with some friends for an early supper and witnessed a worker who was putting out things for the buffet, without gloves on take a potato wedge and pop it in his mouth. Made me glad I ordered a personal pizza but I wondered what goes on in the kitchen if that's what they do in the open. read more

I am extremely dissatisfied with a recent trip to your Mankato location. I booked the larger party room for my three year old's birthday party about 4 weeks prior to her actual party. I called and booked it from 4-7pm, then decided an additional hour would be nice for setup. I called back and spoke to a female who assured me it was not a problem to add additional time, and I could plan on the room from 3-7pm. In fact- she told me we could even use the room until 8pm if needed since they stopped renting it out after 8pm. I arrived at the restaurant yesterday with balloons and streamers in hand at about 3:30pm, and the room was a distaster from the party prior to us. The (what I assume to be) manager on duty met me by the front door of the room and informed me that Pizza Ranch's policy on room rentals were that the room could only be reserved for an hour and a half, and the employee on the phone wasn't aware and wrongly booked the room for 3 hours for my party. He was rather....blunt with informing me of their policies, and basically I assumed I was absolutely screwed as I was having 20 plus guests showing up in 30 min. After a rather long, drawn out, somewhat rude conversation I was told that he would "let it slide" this time and we could use the room. I have no problem with the hour and a half policy- that makes perfect sense. My issue was that employees who are obviously uninformed are answering the phone and giving out wrong info. The manager, Randy, told me that only managers are allowed to book rooms and that I was the one in the wrong (even though that was impossible, they had the party scheduled in their book). Randy made an appearance a few more times to enquire about the type of tape I was using to attach balloons to the chair, and also that typically we should have had more guests to have this room in the first place. I have NEVER had such a stressful, horrible experience at a restaurant. The manner in which this whole situation was horribly unprofessional and I can guarantee I will never set foot in a Pizza Ranch again. If it wouldn't have been for my daughter's sake I would've walked out right after my initial encounter with Randy. I've been a supervisor for years, and the way he interacted and spoke to me was highly unacceptable. I will loudly encourage any friends and family who are thinking of dining at your establishment to go elsewhere. read more

The Pizza is terrible, doesn't even taste like Pizza, the buffet has variety, but all are closely related to one another and all taste the same. The only good thing about this place is the indoor Basketball/Sports room. read more
