This place is a winner! I was skeptical with the proximity to the university but I absolutely loved it. The pizza comes steaming hot! All the dough is tossed fresh before cooking. I couldn't read the menu because it was all in Spanish but the cashier was very helpful. The two chefs sing along with the pop radio without abatement and several customers did the same. I tried the classic calzone and the crust was perfectly chewy. My friend did a Napoli pizza and it arrived with plenty of full olives and anchovies which was a surprise. Pizzeria Da Nanni doesn't look like much. It's a crowded little corridor with a fiery oven in the corner. But you must trust me when I tell you that this little oven makes miracles happen. For literal pocket change (as little as 2.5€), you will get a hot fresh pizza made especially for you. When the dough goes in the oven... it's raw dough. And when it comes out, it is perfectly chewy crust. The sauce is light. The cheese is molten and REAL. Everything is made right in front of you. While it is insanely cheap, quite filling, and mouth-dazzlingly delicious, there's another factor that makes this the perfect stop: It is so freakin' fast. The guy behind the counter delivers this custom masterpiece less than 180 seconds from when you tell him what you want. I have spent more time writing this review than he'll spend making your pizza. Decided to try this place while walking by. Food wise, it was not amazing, but not bad. We got the salsiccia y friariella pizza and the rigatoni burrata. Food tasted fresh and was decent. The reason for low stars was the elder gentleman who was the waiter and host. To start, I don't mind someone being direct and not a bubbly personality, but he was borderline rude. The worst part came at the end when we asked for a box for the pizza and pasta. He grabbed two pizza boxes...Who puts pasta in a pizza box? There was a younger server who was very nice and he brought us a to go box for the pasta. Then when it came time for the check, the older gentleman made sure to specify that we could not add tip on the card, it would have to be cash. He didn't say it once, but TWICE to make sure we understood. Then once the card transaction was complete, he stood there and waited for a tip. I asked for change so I could leave a tip. Once he got me change, I left a 20% tip (I usually tip well as I have been in the service industry and the younger server deserved a tip) and the older gentleman took the cash and did not say thank you. That was off putting. No other restaurant in our entire stay requested or expected a tip...much less didn't say thank when I did tip. This place would have been a good experience without the arrogant and rude interaction with the older gentleman. I know other servers and the chefs may not deserve to have a bad rating, but the customer facing individuals are who make the experience and it was a disappointing experience. read more

Also as good as Frank Pepe's. The only difference - a large pie and calzone plus two beers and a bottled water is about $20. Back for a third visit in a week.
