Recommended by our walking tour guide of Verona, this place is on the "left bank " (the Rive Gauche of Verona where many of the working citizens live) this was the best pizza we've had for awhile. No reservations. So we got there a bit early, found a good seat and the place was full within half an hour. The place has unique decor such as the enormous posters to the dining tables themselves. In contrast to all the good reviews written here, we really could not find the promised 'excellence' on our visit at da salvatore. Travelling through Italy, we found plenty of pizza and plenty of restaurants which offered a better atmosphere and better food. First of, location is great, which made us check out the restaurant in the first place. It looked hip and was full of people chattering and enjoying their meal - good indicators. We found space and we're served not extraordinary friendly but quickly. We liked the decoration and the customized tables - quite unique I'd like to say. But thats about it. The place appeared more like a fast food joint. Loud, stressful, crowded and tiny. Not a place you'd like to stay for long and have a nice after meal coffee. We ordered pizza which tbh was a bit overpriced. Quality was okay, nothing we would go back for. It just didnt represent the amazing food quality, price/value and italian easiness we experienced so far. read more

We were very impressed with every single item we received. The Quattro stagioni pizza on focaccia crust surprised us and quickly became a crowd favorite with a bit of a salty flavor to it. It has an amazing blend of flavors and will take you by surprise in a positive way. We also had the fiorenza (great for meat lovers), the Ivan (has a bit of a spicy kick to it that makes it's flavor fantastically unique), and the classic bufala (more commonly known as margherita). I agree with all the reviews saying this place is by far the best pizzeria in town or any where else. I have been living in NYC for a while now, and I can say Im pretty spoiled for choice when it comes down to a good pizza. I adore this place, love this place and would come back to Verona because of this place. Instead of just saying the pizza is good. The ingredients are good. Excellent pizza, one of the best. We asked for one simple salad and they surprised us with a big and delicious salad with balsamic vinegar. We ordered also buffalo mozzarella and it was amazing. The pizza itself was excellent, I asked for the Salvatore one and I didn't regret it at all. I also tried the eggplant one and it was incredible. Delicious! The pizzas are meant for one, so everyone order their own. I had the radicchio, it was amazing. FYI for tourists, the menu does NOT have English translation and the staff does NOT speak English well. For me this is a good thing, a sign of authenticity but just don't be surprised. read more

Hands down the BEST pizza in Verona! Everyone says they want to try pizza when they set foot in Italy and this is the place to do it. I studied abroad here for 4 months and I probably went every week! This place is always packed but don't hesitate to wait. There is a 'cafe' next door where you can get a nice spritz [aperol not campari] and wait for your table. (Highly recommended) Go look at the river, take pictures and enjoy your nice evening, because after you try the pizza your night will be complete. I have rented an apartment directly above Pizzeria da Salvatore and use their business card to show to taxi drivers to take me back. On more than one occasion a taxi driver said "that's good pizza" I was raised in Brooklyn, Salvatore best pizza I ever had. End of story. read more

Have tried many many pizzerie in this country, lots in this area, but never ever have I had any pizza that was even remotely like these. The pizzeria's decoration is not very nice (the yellow and grey tiles and yellow paint make me feel like I'm in some sort of swimming pool or gym shower) but once i got my pizza everything around me turned into blurry, dreamlike clouds (the way they would show it on tv series) and i floated in perfect weightlessness. I felt sad when I reached for the last piece. And against all my beliefs; I am in Verona for only two days, and tomorrow instead of discovering as many restaurants as possible in a short while, we will go back to da Salvatore. There is no way I can imagine eating anything else whilst being in this area. Tonight I'll be in the arena for an opera, but I'll spend the rest of my day thinking of ways to smuggle in a Salvatore Pizza!! read more

I more than agree with all all these five star reviews. This is a pizzeria that is favored by locals, but they were welcoming and serve wonderful pizza that is reasonably priced. For two pizzas, salad, two big bottles of mineral water, and a Coke it was only 25 euros. I love paying at the counter so that the meal can end when you are ready without waiting for a bill, especially for travelers that want to get back to exploring Verona during their short visits. My husband and I stopped in Verona to visit some friends who took us to Da Salvatore. I am so happy they did! We ordered the Salvatore special pizza and it was fantastic, flavorful, moist and plus the ingredients were fresh. I can still taste the best pizza i had in all of Italy up to now. Arrive early with no rush, get a drink at the bar right next door and wait for your table.
