I have been coming to this store for years, and have always found treasures lurking in the corners. I've purchased many fun and cool items for myself as well as gifts. I have especially found the selection of dishes, silver items, and serving tools to come in handy! I've also purchased some fun jewelry items for myself and as gifts. Some of the other reviews here puzzle me, as I've been in here many times over the years, and the owner Stacy has always been so polite and helpful, but not overbearing. Maybe people need to remember that at a small shop, to make things work, she really can't hire a large staff, so you kind of need to have a little understanding that she may be busy at the moment you have a question, so just give it a moment. I've never had to wait more than a few minutes for help here. As a resident of the local area, I really appreciate the charm and uniqueness of these little stores and don't ever want to see them as empty storefronts. When you shop around Port Jeff enjoy the experience, take in the scenery and just relax! Highly recommend a stroll down East Main Street in port, take in the sights, shop a little, enjoy a healthy lunch or coffee or tea at one of the many great spots along the way! I bought a beautiful vintage wool coat with fur trim from this store a couple of months ago, but I was extremely put off by the shop keeper. As other reviewers have noted, the store is clean but disorganized. It doesn't reflect a wide variety of tastes, and most of the jewelry is junk being passed off as "vintage." The clothing was disorganized and the back room was STUFFED to the point where it was difficult to sort through. Like another reviewer said, the vintage fur coats were hung together on the wall despite being VERY expensive. Nevertheless, I saw a gorgeous coat hanging outside the store "on-sale," but the shop owner informed me it wasn't (then why was it hanging outside?...). I have a feeling she noticed I was extremely interested in the coat regardless of price, and took advantage of me. She seemed really nice at first, but when she overheard my mom telling me to think about it and come back later in the day to buy it (we were on a day trip) she felt the need to chime in and say that she would sell it to someone else if I didn't buy it on the spot. Out of principle I shouldn't have bought the coat from her, but I loved it too much to leave it. When the shop keeper was ringing me up I asked her if she took Amex cards and she said "Yes, but I prefer not to." Um, I'm giving you business in the middle of the winter in a town that relies on its summer tourists to survive. If she didn't take Amex cards she should have just said so instead of wording it so rudely. EXTREMELY off-putting--I don't plan on returning here. read more

Several years ago the owner was in at our house and offered to sell some cameos....and yes she remembered the check that was "lost" but would get back to us. LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS SWEET BOUTIQUE ! Recently, while Shopping in Port Jefferson, I came across this Beautiful Boutique, Stepping inside... I Immediately felt Totally Welcomed & So Comfortable :) The owner, Stacey was so very Kind to me. I found Many Gorgeous Treasures, So many that Stacey allowed me to do A Layaway :) = So Honestly, I was able to get Everything that I had wanted ! Beautiful Jackets A Pretty Dress and Awesome Antique Jewelry :) My Husband Actually picked up / paid my layaway balance and Surprised me with Those Treasures on Christmas Eve :) OMGosh... Was I Surprised, Stacey had Wrapped Each & Every Item in All Different types of Beautiful wrapping paper ! She then Put all of my Beautiful pieces of Jewelry in a Gift Box with each piece Separately Wrapped :) I had So Much Fun Opening all of My Item's ! RUDE and downright NASTY woman working at this store. She actually told my 4 year old son to his face that he needed to leave the store and then proceeded to tell me that I was rude because I didn't ask for her permission for him to sit down on a chair in the store while I was shopping. Honestly, you would think that in a tourist town, that shopkeepers would be a little more civil and nice to children, especially one who was sitting quietly reading a map. I would never ever go back here. read more

Fun little shop which I have always enjoyed visiting in scenic Port Jeff. Lots of pretty china, jewelry of all types, clothing I wish I could still fit into :), and I always get decorating ideas from looking at what she has. I am at the point of needing to consign things myself now as I try to downsize and Stacy was friendly and helpful in this process. If you are shopping for a special woman in your life, or need a scarf or pretty dress, this is a much more fun alternative to going to a mall store and ever so much more interesting than shopping online! read more

I had known about Pattern Finders for years now but only went in a week ago. I could never figure out if it was a vintage/antique store or was this a modern day boutique with jewelry and clothing from local sellers. In many ways, it is both. As another reviewer said the store front is "eye catching" but I found to be more confusing than inviting.Everything from of old jewelry, home-made purses, new floral scarves, antique vases, silverware, beaded necklaces, old and new hats, vintage prom dresses, modern dresses, a vintage fur coat, and some necklaces are all squeezed into the tiny windows. Trust me, the store front is a proper indication of the inside. The lack of organization was my main problem with this shop. Although the owner has a eye for some interesting pieces they seem to be thrown in with your run of the mill jewelry that can be found at the Smithhaven Mall or other shops around Port. Yes, there is a case or two in the back corner that offers estate pieces (that are gorgeous but pricey $400+) but the rest of the affordable vintage pieces are thrown in with average modern jewelry. This is also the case for the vintage purses. There are a few true vintage hats from the 40's and 50's that are moderately priced but many are randomly scattered around the store instead of one place. There is a back room for "vintage" clothing but everything was obviously from the 80s or later. She had about six fur coats that were clustered together. For the prices ($300 to $1000) they should be put on a rack or against the wall over being stacked against a door hanger. As for the service, the owner seemed very nice but didn't hover over her customers. Personally I appreciate a shop keeper who allows you to browse at your own ledger but some of the older customers were constantly trying to engage in conversation with her. When I was there she had received a new shipment of jewelry so I believe she re-stocks her store often. Overall, I'd return to Pattern Finders. As a vintage collector I am willing to pick through the miscellaneous items in hopes of finding something spectacular. But if you're new to vintage beware of accidentally purchasing one of the many brand new items. read more

Pattern Finders is an eye-catching store, and Stacy is very nice--but that's only until she decides you're not going to drop a lot of cash in her store. Rather than working with you, and continuing an amicable conversation, she will cut you off and send you packing without a package. The store seems to depend on a steady stream of out-of-town vacationers, rather than developing relationships with the local community. Pattern finders has unique items, yes, and I wanted to try to support her as a local business, but her abrasive manner makes me want to shop elsewhere. read more

I bough a vintage faux-cinnabar necklaces and bracelet. Next day, I found out that my AMEX was overcharged. I called them and they explained me that they charged me an extra 8.88% sale taxes. However, my AMEX was still overcharged few bucks after taxes. No cool. read more
