My Wife and I walked in on Valentine's Day. I ended up purchasing a watch for $199.00 and thought it was a decent deal. I get home. Try to set the day and date. It doesn't work properly. On 2/15 I drove back out to the store with the intention of getting a refund and being done with the experience. Well, they don't take refunds. Just store credit in exchange. Needless to say, I'm not happy. Now I have to wait and see if the store gets a new watch in exchange for the malfunctioning one. What I don't understand is, I came back the very next day, with the item and proved it wasn't working properly. How does that warrant a refund? This makes no sense at all. read more

A lot more than earrings in this FABULOUS boutique with so much to see! "Ava" was so helpful, very friendly and patient as we looked over much of the jewelry and other items! I bought a fabulous hand crafted diachromatic glass double tier necklace for a great price, my friends also bought a top and other jewelry! We LOVE this store! We have had our family owned business in beautiful Port Jefferson Village since 1995. Unfortunately due to covid,we were forced to shut our office a year ago. With that said i always support small business in town and continue to shop locally. Unfortunately I just had the worst experience ever walking into Earing Tabu. I guess it is under new ownership. The new owner a brunette possibly in her 40's was extremely unprofessional,where i was just yelled at,told to get out of her store. I was there early December to buy jewelry and a night light for my graphic artist/friend. I loved the night light that i ordered 3 more as gifts. Unfortunately i became very ill with covid that when they called me on 12/13 i was sleeping and very sick. I did call them back and told the girl who answered I received her message and that i would be in when i got better. They said no problem it will be here when your all better. I went to the store 12/20 and the woman said we sold them..you never came...she was very rude and u was very upset and taking back. I said why would you sell them? I was sick with covid and told guys i would be in as as i was-able..I been coming here my whole life. She then said do you know what the nightlight look like and I was taken back even more I said I don't understand and she's like what don't you understand you don't like a question and I was like excuse me I already purchased one a few weeks ago they were glass I ordered three more and then she got confrontational with me again and I said not for nothing but I am a customer here,not sure why your yelling and being so rude to me, and she said not for nothing I am the owner, and you can get out of my store. I was like excuse me why are you telling me to get out of your store? I don't understand and why are you yelling at me she proceeded to yell at me and then called me a liar and told me that I did not call the store when I did call the store didn't even apologize for selling my 3 night lights... it was a really horrible experience this is the store that I've been going to since 1995 when my mother was still alive we've been there for all different owners and I never had such a terrible experience ever until just today when I was screamed at and told to get out of the store this is not OK this is a community that I've been shopping and working in my entire life and this needs to be addressed this is not the way you treat somebody especially when it was a life-and-death situation and I came in today to pick them up. The woman is unprofessional and does not belong in business. Your asking me what does the night lights looks like? You should of had a full description when i placed my other.She clearly was not trying to fix this and does not belong in business. You told me you left me a message on 12/13. I explained i was very sick. You clearly were not trying to fix this,and to look me in face and call me a liar? Is unprofessional. It took me a minute to gather my thoughts bc i was so sick. Again i had covid,when i woke up i called the store and told the girl i was sick w covid but would be in as soon as quarantine was over and i was well. She said no problem. I spent $100 a few weeks earlier and that was when i ordered 3 more night lights- The owner was not in that day- the sweet girl that helped me did not tell me I needed to leave a deposit she said I did not have to. I've been shopping there for a lifetime and I would've had no problem putting down a deposit she told me it wasn't necessary. The owner clearly gave me an attitude where she had no sympathy for me and basically said oh well we never saw you we left you a message on 1213 it's right here in my book so they're sold she was not nice my mother owns a jewelry gift and collectible store for many many years and I worked there and ran the store and neither of us have ever treated any customer the way this woman treated me today. Clearly she is nothing like the previous owners. I will let everybody know the way I was treated because it's not OK I was coming in there to get three more night lights to mail out as gifts and I am very upset with the way I was treated. She was yelling at me when she asked me what my nightlight look like I was taken back because the description was written in the book and they were ordered so that's why I said I don't understand I'm confused here you ordered three of them for me it should be in the book she did not like that and she was not professional. read more

Earring Tabu has been around for a very long time, I recall going there as a child with my parents. My whole family has shopped here for near 2 decades, I would guess, often purchasing jewelry and gifts. A lot of the unique jewelry they carry is made by jewelry crafters from the area, is reasonably priced, and I love the idea of supporting a local business and local artists. I highly recommend shopping this store for jewelry. As far as the clothing they carry, I feel the quality and value are variable and unreliable. I purchased a dress a few years ago for around $50 that did not end up holding up well after a few wears. I would expect more timeless materials for the price point. For example, a faux leather coat made of a polyester material runs $148 and an acrylic scarf about $44. I would be pleased to see more high-end and classic materials such as wool, silk, genuine leather, considering the prices. The atmosphere itself is lovely, it is a relaxing place to stroll around and peruse the merchandise. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. When my sister and I were there recently while she was exchanging a gift for something she liked better, we ended up staying 5-10 minutes after 6:00 (closing time) and the women working there were super patient and understanding, which I really appreciate! This is a great little shop if you're looking for a very unique and trendy gift. All the girls that work there are endlessly friendly. I was helped by two redheads who made my Christmas shopping fast and enjoyable. And then they wrapped all my purchases for free!
