I had heard of Pj's years ago so when some friends and I decided to have a self care day I thought we should try here. I called about two weeks in advance and was able to make a reservation for four people for pedicures. They do request a card up front for parties that size and do say if you cancel or don't show you will still be required to pay for half of the service - which I think is fair. They also encouraged us to bring a bottle of wine to relax. They did provide a bottle opener and glasses for us. We checked in at the desk on the first floor and then were escorted upstairs to the nail salon (first floor is hair) we were told to pick out our nail polish and then brought to our chairs. I had a hard time deciding between two colors but my nail technician was so helpful and incorporated both colors - she said my toes looked like vintage Christmas ornaments and I love vintage! The water was the perfect temperature for me but they were more than happy to adjust. We got to choose a scrub for our feet and legs - I chose the pear scrub. The ladies let my friends and I chat but also joined in our conversation at times. My technician (I think Renee) was wonderful. Pedicures not professional. No massage chairs . Most places have them . No foot massage either. The lady that did my pedicure took forever and Polish was was messed up. She very sweet but probably in her 80's short dark hair . My family member had gotten a facial from her too and was disappointed , did not know what she was doing. Had facials the other day . Poor woman probably was around 75 or possibly 80. We could tell she had no idea what she was doing and could not hear us. We had No idea what was happening or what was being put on our faces. Products ect. Or what kind of facial we were having. I had a gel manicure done before Christmas and shortly after i got a fungus on my thumb nail. So bummed.

I went with a bridal party for a shellac manicure. We had the entire upstairs to ourselves which was great. We didn't know until after we were there that we could have brought in outside food and alcohol to enjoy while getting pampered. The staff was nice and the facility was clean. The low rating is due to the actual manicure. I've had probably 5 shellac French manicures in my life an this was the worst-and also most expensive. Before tip and tax I spent $41. The manicurist filed my beautiful long nails down to little barely there stumps and then had the nerve to complain that my nails were "too short". The white tips were all uneven and just looked like crap. I'm not usually one to complain so I didn't say anything about how ugly I thought the manicure turned out. 3-4 days after I had the manicure done I was already experiencing major chipping. (My previous shellac manicures have lasted 10 days before any signs of wear and 14 before any chipping!). I called the salon and they arranged to have someone redo my manicure. I still had to pay for the removal of my crappy shellac. I will not be a repeat customer and would not recommend it for anyone wanting a quality shellac manicure. read more

Went to PJ'S 2 days ago out of desperation. I had driven by this place numerous times but never gave it a second look. One day last week I did something to my neck and pulled a muscle (wtf?) while sitting at my desk (again, wtf?!). Now I'm in fairly good shape but I had never felt something so painful. I called quite a few massage places tying to get a same day appointment...nada. No one wanted me :( Finally, my coworker suggested PJ's based off of a previous experience that she had there. Thank God she suggested this place. The lovely Lisa worked her magic and was able to get down to the nitty gritty of my issue. She even suggested some at-home remedies for me to try later that night. 2 days later and I feel SO MUCH better! Thank you PJ's, thank you Lisa, eff you neck :-P I will be back! read more

I really cannot say enough about how amazing the staff at PJs Day Spa. I was in town for a wedding and this is the salon the bride chose to have our nails, hair up do, and make up done. I decided to also schedule a hair color and cut as well. Every single stylist and technician that graced me with her presence was kind, polite, and extremely talented. Candy did an amazing job with my bleach blonde hair. Maria did The cut and it was absolutely phenomenal. She worked with precision and style. Jennifer made my short hair look like a wedding up do and it was gorgeous. The many other ladies that helped with make up and nails were professional and just amazing. My mom and I came here for a spa day, which was overall a somewhat disappointing experience. We got facials, manicures, pedicures, and 1 hour massages. The facial and the nail tech (Rachel) were the high points. The lady doing my facial got all my blackheads out, which was wonderful! But the two ladies were chatting with each other while they did our facials, which was distracting. I felt a bit rushed by one of the massage therapists to hurry into my massage immediately after our pedicures, which resulted in smudging some of my toes when taking off my sandals. (I'm not sure why my shoes were even put on since I was just going from the nail area to a massage room). Rachel was kind enough to come back to the spa to fix my toes that got messed up. She really went above and beyond and my nails look awesome! But when I got into the massage room, the sheet on the table had hair on it and appeared dirty. The massage therapist assured me the sheets were clean and explained that since it was a hair salon, hair gets on everything. That's not clean in my opinion. The massage was alright, but I have high standards since I frequently get massages. The lady at the front desk was a bit snippy and threw a calculator at me when I asked about calculating gratuity (we left 15%). The physical space is modern with a nice layout. But overall, we spent more than $500, which wasn't worth it. Next time we'll go to a different day spa. read more

Like the other reviews say they are very nice in there but the quality of service lacks. I got my brows done and they were uneven. Like brow looked one way and the other looked like it belonged on someone elses face. Needless to say I was not happy. They offered to redo them when they grew out. I had a different person band I think she really tried her best but this too left me less than satisfied. I got them waxed and then the fine hairs plucked but they were way too thin. So, I have not gone back. It is all they way on the other side of town but I have family other there and we used to live out that way so I would have loved for it to work out but it did not. The manicure was a different story. Like it was good, I got paraffin but the 'mini' massage was really really short and the lady chatted with another person while she did my nails which I was not alright with. I tried PJ's for a few and far between manicure. The folks at this spa are very welcoming and friendly. The interior is very nice and its large size is great because there is plenty of space (it has an upstairs and a down) so everyone isn't right on top of each other. The manicure was fine. The cost was average. My manicurist got the job done, but wasn't quite as thorough as I would have liked. The polish application was just ok. The procedures were pretty simplified. Just basic filing instead of a full shaping. No cuticle soaking although she did trim, and just a general application of hand lotion instead of a mini massage. Perhaps they have a more "deluxe" version that offers these things, but for me those are the basics of a manicure. And a small detail, but the nail polish selection is a little hard to see as they have their bottles of polish stacked three or four colors deep in a rack. It's a little hard to see the ones in the back. I guess I would go again, but would try out other options before becoming a repeat customer. read more

I went to this salon for bridal party updos and make up for friend's wedding. The inside was very clean and nice inside. Staff was friendly. We were allowed to bring in food and beverages. I would not recommend this place for updos and makeup done on bridesmaids was okay. The bride looked gorgoues and thats what mattered most. read more

I used to be a regular customer at PJ's. I will say that the stylist Maria is absolutely amazing and this review is no reflection on her or her work. I called and booked an appointment to have my hair done before a wedding I was in. Not an up do just a cut. Maria my usual stylist was booked solid that week so I was scheduled with a lady named Jen. The day of my appointment I arrived 10 minutes early and witnessed Jen outside smoking. I went in and proceeded to wait 30 minutes in the waiting area before I walked to the counter and questioned why I was 30 minutes past my wait time. They were shocked. They then proceeded to try and find Jen who had not looked at her book for the day and was shopping down the street before her next appointment. Another girl shampooed me and walked me over to Jen's area at the same time Jen walked in. Jen then started yelling at me! Saying she was done until 4:30 and I must have been a walk in and then she told me some one else could cut my hair! Everyone was silent and started apologizing. I just stood there shocked. I was directed back to the waiting area while they asked every person if they had time to cut my hair! Finally after waiting over an hour since my arrival Someone else came over and took me to her chair and very quickly cut my hair. It was a fast job and it was really not at all what I asked for but I was already too embarrassed to say anything. I got up to pay expecting at least an apology or a discount especially after getting yelled at and I was now running late for the rehearsal dinner (the new other stylist did my hair for me so I would be on time) not only did I pay full price but they charged me for the style too! The one they offered to do because they had made me late in the first place. I paid and left. I called the next day and spoke with the owner (after leaving 4 messages for him) and found out he had seen the whole thing the day before and had not said a word! He asked what I thought would be fair compensation for my experience, and in the end took off 50% and refunded my card. I will never ever go back to a place that thinks this is customer service, especially when he admitted that he has problems with this stylist all the time. read more

Warning: this is a long winded review. My husband bought me a SpaFinder giftcard, $50. I was originally going to go in for a manicure or massage but decided that since I have never had my hair professionally done, I would treat myself. I decided on a perm. PJ's has two perm specialists. I sent them pictures of what I wanted asking them if the results were possible. Keep in mind my hair is fine and length to just above my butt so I was very weary of letting just anyone cut it. They were honest and told me the pictures I sent were not a permanent. I still wanted a perm and scheduled a consultation. I came in 15 minutes early as suggested and checked in. I was offered refreshments and everyone was very nice. The sylist came over and told me her previous appointment was running over and that I would have to wait. I did not mind at all. When she took me back, she told me that a permanent could be done on my hair but she couldn't promise the results I wanted. I understood. We discussed that she would take around 4" off since there were bad split ends. She also suggested we layer my hair to get the fuller look I wanted. She said it would take about 3.5-4 hours because my hair was long. I was quite pleased with her knowledge and experience. The free consultation lasted around 15 minutes. She unexpectedly had an appointment slot available for the following Saturday and we scheduled an appointment. The day of the appointment I arrived about 20 min. early a little past 12. She took me early. I showed her pictures I had found of spiral perms as suggestions. She took note and got started. She trimmed off more hair than I'd like, 8". Before permed, my hair fell to right below my breast line. I was a bit dismayed, but thought she was the professional. Even though the pictures I showed her clearly had longer perms. Maybe she thought with my hair type the curl wouldn't hold or weigh down if too long. She washed it and began rolling my hair in a spiral technique. I was extremely pleased with how she rolled. She was very skilled. It took until around 2 for it be rolled. She put the solution, put several caps over and offered refreshment again while I waited. She made sure the solution didn't burn me and periodically checked on me. It took about 20 min. She then rinsed my hair and let it air dry. She blotted each rod to ensure the neutralizer would work. She put the neutralizer on and left me to sit for 10 min. She took the rollers out with assistance as it was getting around close, 4 pm. After taking the rollers out she rinsed my hair. The curls came out well defined. We went back to the chair, she showed me how to put curl creme in and how to blow dry. She gave me the remainder of her curl creme which I thought was nice. It was 4:05. I sat there waiting expectantly for the layering and styling. I don't think she understood or maybe she thought it looked great as is or perhaps she felt rushed. She walked over to the reception counter where four other staff members were waiting including the owner (for me to leave I am guessing as I was the last customer there). I was a bit peeved at being rushed out without the services being complete, but went to silently check out. The price was as expected ($150), however the payment method was not (keep in mind the giftcard). I had called and asked before my appointment if giftcards can be used for the salon. I explained I was getting a perm I had a SpaFinder giftcard and would buy more to finish the cost if I could use them. I planned on getting Giant Eagle fuelperks, otherwise I would have just paid cash and kept the giftcard for a separate occasion. The woman on the phone didn't know and gave me to someone else. I explained my situation to the second woman. She told me and I quote, "Absolutely. You can use your giftcards." Back to my actual appointment. I brought out my three giftcards for $150 at which point the receptionist said, "I'm sorry you can't use giftcards for the salon." I explained to the staff I had specifically called about it, and they had told me yes. They didn't care, including the owner. The owner told me I could use the giftcards on spa treatments, massages, manicures. So my perm just cost me $150 plus a 30% tip (well-deserved for the end-result despite the lack of layering), and I have the giftcards still. The owner just said sorry and did not acknowledge their mistake. For someone like myself who rarely indulges in spa treatments, it was excessive for me to spend $150 let alone another $150 later. I just sucked it up and left. In the end after about a week my hair looks okay. It just left a very sour taste in my mouth for their customer service. I will not be returning because I was lied to (whether inadvertently or not). I would have been glad to return and spend more money if they would have taken the giftcards as they had told me they would. read more

She pulled my hair too tight the entire time, tried to make inappropriate conversation and then gave me highlights that needed to be touched up in a month. My daughter and I celebrated a day off work together. Although we called on short notice, the owner, Peter, worked to schedule our services to match our schedules. We enjoyed massages, facials, manicures and pedicures. We met six different professionals who provided our services. All were kind, gentle and skilled. The facility was SO CLEAN! and the décor was really beautiful. Equipment was like new and well maintained. It is so nice to see a business making investments to enhance client experience! I am highly disappointed in this Spa! I was a part of a bridal party that came in to get mani/pedis, we had the upstairs room to ourselves, seemed nice at first. The girls seemed nice, but did a mediocre job at best for a pretty pricey mani/pedi. We all had to pay a $50 deposit ahead of time, which was 75% of the total cost! I have NEVER heard of a salon charging EACH girl in the bridal party a $50 deposit! Charging a deposit of 75% of your service is ridiculous!! We had an unfortunate situation pop up last minute where one of our bridesmaids could not make it due to a work issue. She was only able to get $25 of her deposit back! She paid $25 for a service she never had done! The people working the front desk were extremely rude about it. When asked to see this deposit policy, they said that it was in a new brochure which had not been printed yet. (Convenient) It must be nice to render no service and still take people's money. There are several other salons that do a much better job for a more reasonable price that do not treat their customers the way this place does. Do yourself a favor and pick a different salon! Not to mention, we caught the workers talking bad about us when they thought we had already left. Truly disappointed in this place, they made what should have been a nice night for a bridal shower turn into a bad experience!
