In that time, I have watched them grow and develop into healthy, respectful, compassionate and confident young people. Based solidly in the traditional martial arts of Korea and sanctioned by the World Kuk Sool Association (with over a million practitioners worldwide), there is simply NO comparison between this school and numerous other martial arts schools in Metro Detroit. Each student gets highly individualized attention and uncompromising quality of instruction in a positive, "family" environment. I can't recommend it highly enough.

I've been a student here for six years now, under the instruction of Gehrik Mohr, PSBN (third degree black belt). Our sister school is located about an hour away in the Flint, MI area and run by Kenneth Wright, PKJN (5th degree black belt & master), who trains regularly with my instructor. Each of them have decades of experience and instruction in martial arts and have trained numbers of competition award winning students to improve overall health, longevity, defend themselves and attain confidence to lead in today's demanding world. I've had the opportunity to try out other martial arts and decided that Kuk Sool Won was the best fit for me. The school here is family friendly, and offers classes to people of all ages in a nurturing environment. If you're looking for value and a life changing experience, I encourage you to visit and try out a class.

They are upfront with what they expect from you and are a constant helping hand in taking you to places you never thought you could reach in your training. As someone who works out regularly I am still able to get a great workout every class. At no point have the classes got "easier" and I leave just as exausted as the first class I took. It is a training where you can push yourself every class and expect results, both mentally and physically. Working an office job, karate provides me the perfect stress relief from a corporate position. I can clear my head and focus on myself for an hour or two. I can go on and on of the benifits that karate has provided to my life and well being, but each person is different. Come on in and see what karate training can provide to you.

I've used reviews literally hundreds of times in my purchasing decisions, yet I've come to the…read morerealization that I never write them. In an effort to pay it forward, I decided to start by reviewing a place I feel people need to know about. The dojo in Clawson MI is a place you must check out. The instructors there (Sensei Rob and Sensei Laura) are top notch and have all the traits you could possible seek (highly skilled, passionate, knowledgeable, patient, and just really good people). I've known them for the better part of the last 15 years and can honestly say few people have made more of a positive impact on my life than they have. Aside from the great instruction, the fellow students there are truly a joy to train with. It's humbling when you see them show as great of an interest in your development as they do with there own. You find yourself growing/developing within the group and new friendships are one of the many results. I feel very fortunate that I have gained some great friends over the years through training. You should expect the same. In addition to getting some good exercise and learning/developing self defense techniques, I personally find this place a great mental refuge and a way to get away for 90 minutes from the daily grind. When you train you don't think of that project at work, class you might have a test in, lawn in need of being mowed or your cable/phone bill....you just think about the training. You may, like me, find this to become almost essential to a healthy life. So you've read this far, isn't it about time you just go up there and try a class out for yourself? One of the first things Sensei Rob ever said to me was that the hardest part of training is walking through the door. Once you are there it is easy. While I wasn't sure about that comment at the time, I found it to be very true (in other things as well). Some of you may have driven by the dojo already....contemplated coming in. My hope is that this review will give you the motivation/desire to take that toughest step and walk through the door to give this place a try. I am sure you will thank me later!
