This place has not only been spamming me for over a month now but they are extremely rude when I have been asked to be removed from their list insinuating that I am unmotivated and not conscious about my overall health. I am quite typically completely unmotivated to do any physical activity for…read morehealth's sake, until I notice that my vision is obscured because my cheeks have puffed up into little pillows of fat, the thigh chub rub has caused microabrasions in the skin, none of my pants will button comfortably, etc. The last straw is my dad giving me the once-over and announcing gravely, "You need to get to a gym." I exaggerate only slightly. When I decided that enough was enough, I gave this studio a call. They just opened in March '08 - since it's so new, I was able to snag a package discount (10%) and get to work out in relative peace with my trainer. The space is new, wide-open and minimalistic, with all of the newest gadgets that usually intimidate the hell out of me. I don't really do bigger gyms at all and have worked with a personal trainer before, so I was happy to find one close to home. There are a few trainers on staff right now. I have been working with Brad, who seriously kicks (my) ass. The workouts have been tough for this little marshmallow, but I feel so great after just about a month of sessions and can definitely perceive a difference. He is certified and has a background in sports med (kinesiology? I haven't gotten into it) so he has a physiologic approach to my workouts that I appreciate. I've seen the other patrons getting their butts kicked by the other trainer there, too. Yeah, it's spendy. It's a commitment. It's worth it to me, because I am just not one of those people who enjoys the gym or is self-motivated enough to even get there. And it works! Activity always does...

I came into the gym in January and asked the front desk about the cancelation process because I was…read moremoving in March. The guy at the front desk told me since I was under contract, I did not have to cancel and that it would just end at the end of my contract. I have now moved about an hour away and they are still charging me $60 a month. I called yesterday and was basically told too bad and that my membership cannot be canceled until their general manager is onsite. Today, I called again because I hadn't received a response and the person over the phone said "you will not be getting a refund because you didn't cancel and my general manager still isn't here so tough." Excuse me? Rude. Disrespectful. Lack of customer service. I will be in that gym in the next 24/48 hours trust and believe that!

I was a previous member of OAC and am glad I'm sticking with the new and improved Powerhouse. Yes, there was a little bit of a wait until the facility was complete, but boy there's been a complete upgrade. More equipment, new bathrooms, including full towel service, steam AND sauna, plus all the classes, which my wife loves, are included in the membership. The only real con is I wish the hours on the weekends were open later to fit my schedule.

Even though the coaches are good the business manager doesn't always stand by OTF's policy. You…read morearen't allowed to have your phone in (but some are let in with it while others are not). In addition- I showed up on time and one of the coaches let me switch to a better spot only to be told that I have to move back because the other person eventually showed up (atleast 15 minutes late). This is important because one time I was about 7 minutes late and was not let in despite paying for my class because their policy says anyone who is 5 minutes late is not allowed in. They don't refund you for it either. Just want everyone to be aware.

Not the case here. I can't get enough of boxing and this gym has a lot to do with it. The trainers are all invested in your progress and all the classes have been nothing short of a demanding workout that's fun and upbeat. This workout will kick your ass, but you'll be coming back for more. First class will be confusing with all the boxing lingo and you'll second guess yourself on whether you're able to keep up. It will come to you after a couple of classes, just be patient =). With the first month being $59 for an unlimited month of classes, I don't see why you wouldn't give it a try. Student discounts too here, just ask!

It was a different type of workout and really focuses on the core muscles. Joseph Pilates was a boxer and the reformers (still an odd name for machines) were to rehab athletes. Marleen has been my instructor and the sessions challenge my flexibility and strength. Located in the lower promenade of the 555 Building, it's two doors North of a spinning facility...a one stop conditioning center. A very nice discovery."
