The grandkids had a great time with rides, games & prizes. There was no shortage of food trucks and we were all hungry but the lines were sooo long, that we decided we'd wait until after to eat. I wish they were more spread apart (this would be a 5 star review but everything felt too congested) Although there were plenty, we couldn't find pizza and maybe there was but we didn't see one. The band that played at the end (I wish I had caught their name) was killin' it and the firework show that followed did not disappoint! We found a spot with a great view. We all had a great time! I've also never seen bikes either so it's a safe pedestrian walking trail. The park is very well maintained. They had many flags up for the week of the 4th. You can definitely get some good pictures here. The parking is easy and the restrooms are clean. I saw new pieces of artwork this time but the Bunnyhenge and Ronald Reagan statue seem to be the more permanent fixtures. If you walk towards the front of the civic center, they have a nice display of desert plants.

Starting June 12, 2026, I officially became a California Notary Public for a four-year term! A quick note for anyone visiting: parking can be a little challenging. Richard mentioned there is a free parking lot behind the building, but I wasn't sure which one he meant, so I decided not to risk it and parked elsewhere. Overall, a very smooth experience thanks to the helpful staff!

I was here in Long Beach watching the news and getting ready for school when I watched as the second plane hit the 2nd tower. That memory has been with me since. While on a weekend trip to san diego we visited the air and space museum and were surprised to see a cruiser on display that was actually at ground zero! When I got back I thought to myself "I wonder if there's other artifacts that I can see around town". A quick search showed that there were pieces of steel from the towers here. So on 9/11 of last year, we drove out here to see the memorial and have a moment of silence for the victims. The memorial is located at the bottom of the staircase in a pentagon shaped base and honors all lost in the towers, flights as well as first responders. In the center stands a steel beam that was part of WTC donated by NYC Fire and Police. It's quite surreal seeing an object from that dark day in history.

Big group of dancers & plenty of room to boogie the night away. Several areas for parking & shaded areas to sit (bring your own chairs) definitely arrive early to claim a good spot. We arrive @ 6pm take snacks & drinks. Music starts @ 7pm & ends @ 9pm Several vendors such as food, crafts, clothing, plants/succulents & kids play area w/ bounce house, Corn hole, games/activities. Nice touch w/ having the COVE serving drinks on 2nd level overlooking civic center & can still enjoy music while sipping on a cocktail / beer. Only thing is I wish they would do "Pledge of Allegiance or Sing National Anthem @ beginning of event & being the Civic Center has a nice Veterans memorial. It would be very Patriotic & Thank You to ALL who served & continue serving. Keep up the good job WC!!

If you can avoid coming to the Civic Center than please do. There's nothing worse than wasting all…read moreday waiting at the Civic Center than maybe waiting at the DMV. I came here a couple times in the past to deal with traffic tickets, but the most recent time I came with my mom who just wanted to change her address and contest her ticket through trial by declaration. The whole process took 3.5 hours! It was ridiculous and poorly managed. People with all sorts of issues where in line for hours waiting. There's only one line that leads you into a room of 6 windows or so, where you get to speak to an actual person to help you sort out your traffic citation issue. Unless you want to deal with their pointless automated system over the phone, this is the only way for you to manage your traffic ticket in person. It wasn't until an hour before closing that a lady came by the line to speed things up for everyone. I seriously think that something needs to change with their system that clearly doesn't work, unless the whole point is to have people get tired out from waiting and just pay for whatever traffic citation they were written up for. Since it seems more reasonable for someone to pay the citation fine than to take a whole day off work waiting aimlessly in a never-ending line.

The $520m restoration includes the construction of the new City Hall, Port Headquarters, Main Library, civic plaza corridor, residential space, hotel, and a retail marketplace. It also includes a 73,000ft² Civic Center plaza and the revamp of Lincoln Park. The Civic center/ Lincoln park re-design will be spread over 4.8 acres. It will include a dog park, walkways, children's play area, and landscaping. The whole area feels really safe and I really liked the design.
