Unfortunately, I can not provide this business with a high score. Two friends of mine recommended the business due to prior success with using the company. We checked in around 1145 for a 12 pm booking. They did not have a specific spot to stand to wait for shuttles. As a result, it was a free for all and people that arrived well after us got on shuttles first. My friend politely asked where to stand and staff became overwhelmed. We did not end up on a shuttle until almost 1 pm. Then during loading, the van door was broken and the group had to exit the front passenger door. Our driver was trying to direct other staff with their jobs too. It seemed that staff were unsure of their job responsibilities. I will say the tubes they provide are very high quality and you have various choices of styles. Unfortunately, due to weather, our group was told that we couldn't get into the river. (That did not lose stars from me, that's out of their control). The staff told us we would be provided refunds and a shuttle back to our cars. Since there was a lot of us waiting to get in to the river, our group had to wait for second shuttle. If they could improve their check in process, and safety of their vehicles, I would consider giving them another chance. read more

We went tubing with this company probably for the 50th time yesterday. The weather conditions weren't ideal, but as usual the staff did everything they could to make it a fun, safe, enjoyable(even if it was a quick one this time) I love that this company hires kids and gives them their first experience of working, the kids are always polite and friendly. We know that this year it was a completely NEW staff all except 2 boys that we remember well from previous years and have pretty much watched them grow and mature. So the new staff was pretty green, and things didn't run perfectly, BUT everyone did the absolute best they could with the circumstances available at the time. I highly recommend this company and when my kids are older would love the idea of them working with them!! Great job guys!! read more

Our experience at Plainfield Tubing on 7/3 was terrifying, and I truly believe it could have ended much worse. The Fox River and its current were extremely high, yet our group was still sent out with an inexperienced teenage employee. As he attempted to keep our group from drifting into a dangerous area, he lost control due to the strength of the current and instructed us to grab onto nearby tree branches. My husband and I were the last ones holding our group together. At one point, I was clinging to a tree branch while trying to keep our entire group from drifting away. The branch snapped, and we were then instructed to get out of our tubes and into the water. As I did, the current immediately pulled me under. My tube held me down, I couldn't breathe, and I swallowed a significant amount of Fox River water. Thankfully, someone in our group was able to pull the tube off of me before the situation became even worse. I immediately told everyone else to stay in their tubes. Another employee eventually arrived and was able to guide us toward the riverbank. I was instructed to get back on my tube and hold onto another tree so my husband could safely get back onto his tube. During all of this, we were being hit and scratched by tree branches while fighting the current. This entire incident could have been prevented with proper judgment and employee training. Despite these dangerous conditions, the tubing continued. About halfway through our trip, we were caught in a severe thunderstorm while floating beneath power lines. Reports later showed wind gusts of around 60 mph. The rain was so intense it felt like hail hitting our bodies. Before we even entered the river, we requested life jackets. One adult vest was available, but the other vest offered was a child's size that did not fit. There simply were not enough life jackets available for everyone who wanted one. Given the river conditions and the approaching weather, no one should have been sent out. Even more concerning, there were no employees patrolling the river at any point to monitor guests or respond to emergencies. When we reached the exit, the owner had two teenage boys helping bring people in. There was no organized check-in to ensure every person who entered the river had safely returned. Throughout our float, we saw multiple empty tubes and sincerely hope those individuals made it back safely. When I spoke with the owner afterward about what had happened, her response was extremely disappointing. She told me there had been "no other problems today," that she had already had a stressful day, and now she had to listen to me. She even asked someone in my group to help calm me down instead of acknowledging the seriousness of what had happened. At no point did I feel my concerns were taken seriously. I also noticed that the teenage employees assisting customers were not wearing life jackets themselves, which raises additional concerns about the company's commitment to safety. I left shaken, sore, and injured. My entire right arm has been in significant pain and has gone numb since the incident. This was not just an unpleasant experience it was a dangerous situation that I believe resulted from poor judgment, inadequate training, and a lack of proper safety protocols. I sincerely hope no one else has to experience what my family and I went through. We were refunded for our trip only after having to reach out to the owner. read more

Wouldn't recommend. I didn't recommend to friends after doing this last week with Plainfield River tubing. It had rained a good amount earlier that week so we thought it would be ideal conditions and it seemed to be ideal. We floated down at a good pace. Water was deep. It was all good. Then. After an hour we got pulled out and had to walk like half a mile back to where we started; where are cars were parked. I had signed up for a 3-5 hour float, so we were denied like 75% of the trip we paid and expected. We spent more time driving there and back then actually being on the water. I've been wanting to try this out year and not in on the last day. Was not disappointed. It was so much fun. The company was super well organized, making sure everybody was taken care of at every step of the way. The owner, Kris, saw me and my daughter, walking home after our float. She offered and gave us a ride home. We'd only met her a couple hours before when she took us off to the drop off point. Every staff member was courteous as could be. I cannot wait to do again. The whole time we were floating, I wondered if it would be weird for me to just do this any given summer day by myself. It was so relaxing. I enjoyed having one-to-one time with my daughter, but this would also be super fun for a group of ladies or couples. 10 out of 10! read more

It was a wonderful experience in every way. The booking was easy, they were so easy to work with, super friendly. They even came out to get me when I almost floated past (I was blissed out!). Recommend you book it with friends, tie the tubes together in a circle. Rent a cooler tube to go in the middle, and yes! Get a paddle or two. I just love this place. Everyone is so pleasant and accommodating. We had a devil of a time finding the place and ended up being 45 minutes late. No one made us feel bad and they simply sent us down the river. The river was low and took us a bit of time to finish, so bring enough drinks, snacks and sunscreen and maybe a speaker and you'll be in for a relaxing afternoon. read more

The staff was very organized and friendly and check in and getting in the water was a smooth process. The river itself is clean and clear. We had four families reserved for tubing Labor Day weekend and we had a great time. Our drive from Chicago was a nice one hour and 15 minutes. The total float down the river took 3 hours, this of course depends when you go and how much rain it had the last few days or weeks. River: The river wasn't high. It varied from ankle to chest high. The water was clear and river was clean. There are long weeds and rocks on the bottom so water shoes are suggested. Along the ways was quiet. There are some houses along the way. We were warned about one resident but it didn't bother us. Parking: We arrived at West Electric Park and there were ample of parking as our reservation was early in the morning, 9am. When we left people did had to park on the grass which wasn't bad but we were glad to arrive early and get good parking. Upon finishing up our float trip, we were greeted by the very nice people again by West Electric Park where they hose down each tube and cleaned it. We had 14 people that day, and one of us had a float that was loosing air and popped. Luckily for us we had used the large float for drinks as a back up. However they told us to call the number on our reservation if that were to happen and they would come replace it. Next time, we will remember that if it happens. Important tip: 1) If coming from east of Lockport Street, there is a divider that blocks you from turning left on to Countryman Drive into the park (Ignore Waze and Maps as it will tell you to turn left). You need to pass the entrance to the park and do a U turn, then head west to turn right on Countryman Drive. 2) Arrive at least 15 minutes earlier than the time you have scheduled to float. This is so you need to register, check in, get any additional float for your drinks, change and put all what you need in their van. This is where they drive you for 10 minutes to the launch pad. The pick your float from a variety of option, with a bottom or not, and a high or low back. Then you walk to the river with the float and they help to clip the tubes together or whatever your preference is. Yeah, arrive early. Overall, very organize and friendly folks. We had a great time tubing through Plainfield River Tubing. The outfit is well-run and organized, the tubes are good quality and comfortable (yay for headrests!) and it goes through a pretty area of the river. They did a good job keeping people distanced and we saw them disinfecting equipment. Note that the river is very shallow (~2 feet when we went in late August), and the slow current means you might want to bring a paddle. The team drives you from the parking lot upstream to the launch site. The staff secured us together and helped us with our cooler raft. They gave us good directions and set us on our way, and were there to help us out at the end. I would have given them five stars, but their no-refunds policy is oddly strict. It's a shame, because the entire day was sold out, and someone else could have taken the spots when we called ahead to notify them that two people couldn't make it. Just a shame that someone else couldn't benefit from the cancellation. All in all though, this was a great day and a good value for the money. read more

Usually their last day of the season is Labor Day weekend but they extended it for an extra weekend since the weather has been so nice. Very impressed with how organized and friendly the staff was. If I could put zero starts for this company, I would. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE. I was very excited to book a trip with Plainfield River Tubing for my bachelorette party on Saturday, September 9th. Unfortunately, the Monday before our trip, September 4th, my grandfather passed away. I promptly emailed Plainfield River Tubing the day after my grandfather passed away - Tuesday, September 5th - to inform them of the situation and that it would be unlikely that we would be able to make our reservation because I would be attending my grandfather's services. I received no communication from Plainfield River Tubing until the Friday before my reservation, September 8th, and the email was reminding me of my reservation. Again, I promptly responded to Plainfield River Tubing informing them that I had emailed them earlier in the week to cancel my reservation due to my grandfather's passing. I expected to receive an email from Plainfield River Tubing offering their sympathies and a solution - I received none of the sort; instead, the Plainfield River Tubing employee I was emailing with decided to argue with me about whether or not I did email them on Tuesday. There was no "sorry for your loss", "my condolences", or anything even relatively close to that. After sending a screenshot to confirm that I did reach out to them on Tuesday, this employee told me that the only thing they could do was offer me a gift card because "they get lots of cancelations for lots of reasons". After being argued with the day before my grandfather's funeral, and my grandfather's death being compared to the "lots of other reasons" people cancel, I had absolutely no interest in doing business with Plainfield River Tubing anymore and I certainly did not want their gift card. I asked to speak to a manager and the manager called me, but I was unable to call back on Saturday or Sunday due to attending my grandfather's services. On Monday, September 12th, I began calling the manager of Plainfield River Tubing DAILY and leaving voicemails to discuss the situation. I was still hopeful that they would be compassionate, remedy the situation, and provide me with a refund after this particularly unpleasant encounter with their employee. I had not heard back in a week, so on Monday, September 18th, I emailed the employee again asking to talk about the situation. She promptly called me - which I could not answer because I was at work - and then immediately emailed me saying that they had "called twice and left two voicemails", as if these calls were not the initial call they had made on Friday, September 8th and literally that very same day, Monday, September 18th. The employee continued to argue with me over email, continuing to state that they could only give me a gift card because their "policy is clear" - I never suggested it was not - and people cancel for "lots of reasons" but that I should not have a problem selling it because they "book up" - as if that matters somehow. Still absolutely no sympathies extended for my grandfather's passing or for how this situation had been handled since the very beginning despite me repeatedly telling them how disappointing and upsetting this situation has been for me. Two days after this conversation, September 20th, I received the gift card but they did not acknowledge my email at all. In short, these people take their cancelation policy VERY seriously. So seriously, in fact, that they will argue with a girl who has to cancel her bachelorette party to attend her grandfather's funeral instead of offering their condolences and politely offering possible solutions. They will state that their policy is clear and unmoving, they will equate the other reasons that people try to cancel to the death of a family member, and they will completely drop contact and act like they have done nothing wrong. Had this situation been handled differently, I might have been more open to accepting and using the gift card. Needless to say, I will not be giving my business to Plainfield River Tubing or recommending them to anyone else. read more

From the minute you get out of your car, the staff is there to greet you. We checked in and minutes later the very nice air-conditioned large van was there to take us up the river. The owner was driving and went over the rules. When we got out of the van, very clean tubes were on the law. There was plenty of staff there to help everyone get in the river with no issues. We floated down the river for around 3 hours. At the end point, more staff was there to help us out of the river. I then watched them wash and sterilized all the tubes. This was the best experience.
