My experience at Planet Chiropractic was THE WORST possible experience I have ever had. During my first visit ever, Dr. McCormick spent a grand total of 5 minutes and adjusted my shoulders despite my clear request for help with back pain. Not only did the visit do NOTHING for my back, but I started having excruciating pain on my right shoulder which has continued for over 3 weeks. The pain was SO BAD that I woke up almost every night, forcing me to visit an orthopedic physician. The diagnosis? Damage to my shoulder tendon, which the specialist said can takes MONTHS to heal. A month later, I am still unable to reach my back and have lost significant strength in my right arm, diminishing my quality of life dramatically. I even have to start doing physical therapy for that shoulder in order to move my right arm, an additional expense that I now have to bear. Of course I complained about the adjustment and pain to Dr. McCormick after 2 weeks and not once did I ever hear an apology from him. Not only that, he spent less than 5 minutes with me AGAIN. He did not even give any remorse about the pain I was experiencing and dismissed me by telling me to "just stretch." The complete lack of empathy and professionalism was glaring. There has to be a minimum time required to spend with patients, especially if the visit was for excruciating pain that was a direct result of his care. I CANNOT EMPHASIZE THIS ENOUGH. There should be a basic standard for every patient interaction. If you are looking for a chiropractor who values your time, listens to your concerns, and actually provides effective and compassionate care, look somewhere else. His care is not patient focused. I went in not knowing what to expect. I'm so glad I did, Dr. McCormick changed my life. I'm able to walk and stand upright because of him. My quality of life is better than I could have imagined. Dr. McCormick cares about how you're feeling and looks to correct the issue through natural methods, aligning the spine and joints, decompression, massage, physical therapy, and ensuring you take care of your body outside of just going in for adjustments. Dr McCormick has recommend shoes, ice packs, stretches, and equipment I use at home. He can tell when I come in if I have been doing my at home regimens or not. I can't recommend this place any more than telling you it changed my life for the better. First, this review in no way reflects the excellent care I received from Ingrid, the massage therapist. She was TERRIFIC. So was Dr. McCormick when I saw him for a shoulder issue a couple of years ago. This is about what I can only call misrepresentations by the front office. When I called to book a massage appointment, I made it clear it needed to be covered by insurance. "No problem!" When I arrived, the 'office manager' wasn't there, and the young woman behind the counter said I wouldn't be charged until the insurance was taken care of. I had an excellent visit, and made another appointment three weeks later THREE WHOLE WEEKS! When I got there, the 'office manager' told me she was STILL WORKING on my insurance situation, didn't anticipate any problems, and told me to go in. BIG MISTAKE. When I came out, she demanded my credit card and zinged me for both massages ... $150. She'd had three weeks to get things sorted out. What followed was a an exasperating, frustrating nightmare that cost me a ridiculous amount of time. Aetna would tell me I was covered, and the 'office manager' would say. Oh, no, you were declined. Bottom line. If you need insurance to cover the cost (or partial cost) of your visit, on't make an appointment until you know FOR SURE it's in place. Just a note: I have no idea if Dr. McCormick knew about this. It appears all emails go through the 'office manager' so I was unable to contact him directly. If you're reading this Dr. McCormick, you need to fix this. It's abominable. read more

I have chosen Planet Chiropractic since they have the facility of DRX 9000 decompression. Initially, it was recommended 24 therapy sessions based on my pain level. Dr. McCormick also mentioned if I do not see any sign of improvement by 10 sessions I can go back or stop based on comfort level. The payment options are given to either go by insurance or monthly payments. I requested for monthly payment but also requested to switch onto insurance if the problem is not resolved at any point of therapy after 10 sessions. 10 Sessions: I did not see any improvement after 10 sessions of the therapy and when I checked with Dr he never even remembered the terms agreed to and took it granted to go for complete 24 sessions. 24 sessions: I had to go thru 24 sessions and the problem still not resolved and Dr suggested for more 10 sessions with furthermore monthly payment plans without any guaranty on resolving the problem or reduction the pain levels. Summary: 1.Most of good Chiro practice out there influence you to enroll in long sessions giving you monthly payment options irrespective of your health improvements or customizing the plan for you. This clinic is definitely one of those with more commercial interest. Be aware do not enroll in these plans unless someone assures you fixing your problem. 2.Since I did not see any improvement I called the clinic multiple times to see if they can alter my monthly payment plan to my insurance as agreed in the initial discussion. I requested this so I can go for a surgery with minimal costs and in return never got any response from them again. Clearly states this clinic never caters to what they stated in the induction or initial discussion. They just fixed me on the plan and did the treatment just for the sake of completing a number of sessions. Never paid much attention to my situation session after session. 3. Dr was suggesting to go for more 10 sessions in spite no signs of any improvements in my situation after 24 therapy sessions. Never guaranteed the improvement. Some point Dr have to come clean what they can and cannot do instead of making me suffer from the pain for the longer duration. As per my experience, this clinic never does that. This Chiro practice may be a good place for a regular tune-up or timely chiro fixing but not recommended if you are going thru excruciating pain or suffering from any chronic problems. read more

Ive been going to Dr. McCormick for the past several years. My initial injury was adjusted and I felt great after about 6 months of treatments. Recently I was rear ended and I started feeling pain again. I went back in and he is great still. I do not like the physical therapy portion, however, as I feel that if I wanted to go through physical therapy I'd contact a seperate doctor for that service. I also don't do massage there... I don't believe they have a message therapist but rather one of the massage chairs. Overall, however, he does a great job and I'd return to him again. read more

I did some research on spinal decompression and got some mixed information, positive and negative but I did find that the drx 9000 machine was one of two machines getting more positive reviews, planet uses this machine, and actually has two of them, I chose their location despite having to drive for 40 minutes each way because of this. My first time in Dr mckormick's staff gave me a questionnaire I filled that out and then I spoke to him for a while, he said that decompression did not seem like the answer to my problems but asked if i would like to get an xray (which was the only thing my insurance ever covered at this office) I opted to get the xray because I needed a solution, I was living in pain and hating life. A few days later I got a call back from a staff member who asked if I would set up a time to return and "discuss the results" once in, dr mckormick informed me that "good news!" I was in fact a candidate for spinal decompression he explained to me with extreme arrogance and as if he were talking to a child the science behind spinal decompression and compressed discs and the gave me a verbal quiz on the subjects covered to which he expected a response. Dr mckormick left me to a staff member who would explain to me the details relating to costs and options available, and if I sign up today I will save X percent off of this ridiculously expensive treatment, but don't worry! We finance! They put their sell on me and I was apprehensive just due to the manner in which they interacted with me which I found to be very disrespectful and uncaring, I was reasonable convinced that I wanted to go through with decompression. I chose to stay, doing decompression 3 days a week for 8 weeks, I believe the total cost was around 4k. As a general trend in my visits I would show up, Ice, heat, get thrown on the table and stretched for 15 minutes, my questions would be ignored or before I finished them they would be disregarded for the question dr mckormick assumed I was asking, it always seemed as though he didn't have the time to bother with my concerns. Upwards of half the times that I was in there I would have my session administered by a receptionist at the office, it seemed as though they did not want me to progress, you are supposed to graduate up in weight as you grow accustomed to the current weight they have the machine set at, the receptionists generally did not feel comfortable raising the weight for me and dr mckormick only did so when he felt compelled, and it always seemed as though they wanted the process to go on as long as possible which made sense when I discovered that the 4000 I had been paying them had not been enough and they wanted me to continue to see them every two weeks at a cost of 70 dollars per session, which I did a few times but after seeing little results from them so far and being frustrated by their practices I was done with the games. I would not necessarily recommend against decompression but I can whole-hardheartedly recommend against this office. Yelp hid my review despite being marked useful 11 times, funny 3 times, and cool 3 times. Maybe this one will stick around for a few weeks. read more

We love it here! We see Dr. Dan on a family plan (which has also been cost effective, and broke down into something more manageable for our budget) my husband, my son and I really find this place to be as good as it gets. The front desk staff goes above and beyond, offering a warm & comfortable environment for families with young children. They have a small play area and all the staff and other clients have always greeted us with kindness, and understanding for my over-active and incredibly curious 2 & 4 year old. Even offering "extra entertainment" for the kids, like front desk play and printing coloring pictures, when I have had longer appointments, and my husband is running late from work. The chiropractic treatments themselves have been thorough, and effective. I have never felt rushed in an appointments. They have loads of different modern looking equipment, and the treatment approach has been gentle and varied, which I like. I don't find them pushy sales people AT ALL!! In fact, quite the opposite, I asked why there is not more info about this place online, it is such a great little tucked away place....right behind Reigning Imagination on the main strip of Mill Creek Town Center, right below La Palmera Mexican Restraunt, this place is a Gem! As they say "Dan is the Man", we've been to a few different Chiro places in Seattle.... This place by far surpasses and exceeds our expectations. I found Justin McCormick after suffering from migraines most of my life. I had a severe headache and realized it was enough and needed more help then the pills I had prescribed to take to prevent them. I found him by searching on Internet and he seemed to have a philosophy that aimed at helping people regain quality of life. When I met him in person it was confirmed to me that he wanted to help me. I am currently on my second month of treatment and feel a drastic improvement in my pain. My headaches have decreased dramatically and my back pain is occasional. I have more days of being pain free. I went to Dr. McCormick skeptical that my migraines would be alleviated. Nothing had worked in the several years I'd been trying to get rid of them, and no one knew the source. Other doctors wanted to mask my symptoms with drugs, but I wanted to not have headaches anymore. I liked McCormick's drug-free approach and thought I'd give it a try. Well, I'm amazed and thrilled. I did get one or two headaches at the beginning of treatment, but that was way less than I normally had to deal with (one every week or two, lasting 24 hour and causing me to be bedridden). Plus, they were shorter and less intense. Best of all, over the course of treatment (12 weeks) the headaches disappeared. I haven't had one headache in over a month! I'm going to keep up with occasional "maintenance" visits because I want to be proactive and keep my body working well. I've recommended Dr. McCormick to friends who have migraines. read more

HI-went to Planet Chiropractic-to avoid surgery-that I almost did. I have spinal stenosis,and I heard spinal decompression could help, I went to another center,and after X-rays the Dr said it would not help, with my conditions. So,I heard about this place,and thought I would try again,I had an MRI done before,after physical therapy did not work. I had Dr McCormick look at it,and he said the decompression could help,but it was not covered by medicare,since I am a senior,and only have medicare.So he told me about cost plan,I could get a discount with no insurance,for $2600, for 26 visits.He also said he would check at half way point to see if I was improving,but he did not do that,later he said it was up to me to say if I was feeling any benefits, So, by the time I asked if it was half way he said it is way past half way. Also,like some others said,he did not check to see how I was doing, I just got heat and or massage chair for 15 minutes,then the table for 23 minutes,and the ice,and sent home after that. I would say,I had very little benefit,from the decompression. That the 'exit' console,he just told me some stretches to do,and a fish oil supplement I should buy,and glucosamine. Also,it seems he thinks the decompression ended my back pain-and this was a maintenance program. So-it seems I have $2600 less money,and still have back pain. I don't know why he did not just tell me about the stretches,or exercises, and supplements I could take, before I started,and also, he should have checked with me at half way, then I could have saved $1300. I really like going to this chiropractic office. The doctor is a man with a plan. I had a very serious painful C6 injury. He gave me a plan and ask that I participate fully. I did so, and at the end of the plan I am pain free. And back to my old self. I'm going to stay with this practice and do maintenance Chiropractic. I work from a desk and so my neck and shoulders get really stiff. It would be nice to get an adjustment on a regular maintenance basis. I like the fact that they pay attention to every patient. They have a plan, and they stick to it. And they're very accommodating to fit a person's finances. I'm really happy that I chose this practice as the one I went to when I was in deep pain. I've been going here for about a year and a half. I had general backaches and shoulder stiffness from a car accident I'd been through 6 months earlier. My physical therapist at the time had discouraged me from going to a chiropractor during treatment because she didn't want any confusion about what was helping me to progress. I don't want to say it was a mistake, but certainly I wish I hadn't waited so long! After my first session, I realized I had a lot more mobility in my neck than I'd had before. After the second, my pain levels that I'd become resigned to "life as is" started dropping away, at three months they went so low as to be a "This is pretty good" and at 6 months almost as good as I was before the accident. We were only intensive for the first couple of months, since then I've only been going once a month and that's simply to keep me feeling great, it's not a necessity. I started with Dr. Justin McCormick who is funny and personable and attended to my needs. Lately I've been treated by Adam Silar who is always sunny and quick to straighten me out. I suffer from chronic migraines and was looking for something that wasn't as strenuous on the muscles as manual adjustment chiropractics but also affordable. I am also no stranger to naturopaths, chiropractics, acupuncturists, ect. and my own M.D. has used these forms of treatment for his own migraines. I trust the people I work with and respect their opinion. That is one of the best things about the naturopathic world, people really work with you and will do what they can to help. Went in for a free consultation, which to begin with was fairly normal. We went over my concerns. Went over some of my pain points in my neck and shoulders. Did some tests to see how badly coordinated I was. He also took an x-ray and did an EMG test. He also mentioned these treatments could have a cost upwards of $2,000 but that might insurance might be helpful on this. More on that later. I set an appointment to follow up the next day. I was a bit uneasy as I know that EMG tests are kind of foolsy and only measure surface body heat, and can even be made to show data. I did some research on brain base therapy and found only positive reviews on a few chiropractic websites that offer it. I was sort of disturbed I didn't find more helpful stories on the online chiropractic forums and was even more surprised to find that there were many words of caution as well as stories indicating it had done nothing. The next day we went over cost. Apparently this treatment was going to cost over $3,000 out of my own pocket! This was outrageous considering I have insurance that is very open to the naturopathic world and normally only charges a $35 co - pay per visit. Which if I add up all my visits (about 57) The insurance should have been willing to cover at least $1,500. They were only willing to cover $494. Dr. McCormick did explain there were also supplements and a dextox package with the program. I currently take herbal supplements for migraines from a naturopath and also am on a highly regarded detox plan...and trust me...it doesn't add up to $1,000. When I questioned this, he further explained that three of the treatments were those that the insurance wouldn't cover! I have never run into that before with my insurance! So flags flying..that wasn't the worst of it. Apparently they do the group membership thing where you get a discounted price if you sign up now and today, but forfeit this discount if you need time to think about it. Now I expect this at the gym, massage envy, a timeshare presentation and many other sales gimmicks...but not my medical health. At this point, I explained that I needed to talk to my other doctors because one persons word that this might work wasn't enough for this much of a budget commitment. Dr. McCormick became defensive and turned it on me saying that he thought I was ready to commit to this today, and that is why he went over the potential costs the day before. I politely reminded him if I could have afforded it, I would have agreed to it....oh yes they also tried to sign me up for a loan in which the cost would have an additional 14.99% interest rate on it. When I explained I will need a second opinion no matter what, he basically dismissed me and treated me as if I never would come back. He did go over my tests results but the entire time used words such as, "we would have done this," or "in this case "we could have done that." Mind you I hadn't said no, just that I needed more time. It was like a guilt trip. So finally I politely tried to say, "I am sorry," but but before I could finish he cut me off and said, "no, I am sorry for you." In which I did reply, " I need to make sure there is a greater chance this works before I give you this money." Which he proceeded to say in angry voice, "I can't guarantee this will work." The morale is. I purposely pay extra to have insurance to cover good naturopathic options. I have never been turned down for a procedure or treatment from them until this point. I like to think this is a sign. Btw this stuff has been around since before 2008...so it's not like it's new and the insurance companies have never heard of it. Worse I have never had by health been treated like a sales presentation before. This may work for you. My experience, however, says use caution because the the initial experience is a sales trip. It is very expensive and do remember there is no miracle cure to migraines...none...squat...notta...just like most chronic allements you can make it better...but nothing happens over night. read more

The doctor is awesome, but the billing is a nightmare that never ends- so much so that my husband has moved to a new doctor because they just can't get it right. We were told one price for out of pocket and one price for insurance, which is fine, but when the bill came it was way more than the pricing we were told. Bills don't get sent on time- it took 3.5 months to finally get one and then it was incorrect after three different conversations. The stress of dealing with the billing just isn't worth the awesome doctor.
