We stopped in today as we are passing through town. We have stopped at many planet fitness across the country. This is a bit on the smaller side, but had everything that we needed to get our workout in. I would say that they have the least amount of Benches for weight that I've seen in most places and a little bit of a rework with some of all of the extra room around the PF 360 machine could really help optimize the space. The back corner for stretch stretching, and abs is nice, but there's not a ton of space to roll out a mat And Work. Didn't need that today so I wasn't a problem, but if this were a Jim I had to regularly frequent that would be a challenge. I only saw one equipment piece that was not in working order, otherwise everything seemed to be working in this facility. The front desk staff were friendly and the bathrooms were clean. No photos as we arrived around noon time on a Thursday and it was really quite busy. Went in today with 2 friends, all 3 of us wanting black card membership. The young blonde woman at the front desk seemed disinterested in helping us and was uninformative. She Asked her coworker to give us a tour, who also seemed disinterested in helping us. The tour he gave was subpar at best and it was very brief, he never once showed us or talked to us about black card membership perks. After our 5 minute tour was over, he went to help someone else without saying anything to us so we all walked out. With the exception of occasionally having to wait for a member to finally get off the phone so I can use the equipment, or having to confront the ladies in the knitting circle at the bench press so I can use it, or the smell in this place, especially the locker room, where there is an extra special smell in the air filled with feces, urine and sweat, with just a dash of ass mixed with carbon dioxide coming out of the most unhealthiest of bodies, (both ends), floating about in the air like I am in a row boat on the Ganges River in India, its great! I wish I could hold my breath long enough to get the hell out of there, but sadly, I cannot. Also, the staff could be friendlier instead of walking around looking like they don't want to be there. Employees cannot be walking by a member and not acknowledge the member, it really sends a bad message. Perhaps someone can remind them that they were not drafted to be there and they work there voluntarily and it is customer service THEY signed up for. If they want to walk around with a hardened game face and not say hello, they should go work security at a club, or dig ditches or pave parking lots or work on an assembly line. C'mon PF! If you want to raise the bar and keep your competitors away you need to take it up a notch, seriously. read more

I had been traveling and decided to stop in to Planet Fitness. This is a nice, well kept, clean facility. The staff was friendly and answered any questions I had. I went mid morning during a Tuesday and Wednesday and it wasn't crowded at all. The machines are state of the art and well maintained. I liked the room in the back on the left side. I will start off by saying that I am grateful for the PF gym in Amarillo. It is always good to go anywhere and find a gym under your membership to work out in. Now, on to the review. The gym is old. No other way to say it. It is in desperate need of an overhaul. The equipment is quite outdated, even for PF, as most of the PF gyms in other cities I've visited have already been upgraded. The ab crunch machine even as several weights (purposely) removed. What would have normally been 200+ lbs only goes to 160 lbs after the bottom weights have been removed, which severely hinders the ab workout of people who are well past that weight (and especially since most PF gyms have the full amount of weight stored in each piece of equipment). The employees seem pleasant. I am a bit baffled that there are no "self-serve" scanners to log in to the gym. They manually have to scan a member in with a hand-held scanner, which seems outdated in and of itself. The Amarillo gym also seems to have an over-abundance of treadmills, but severely lacks in weight equipment, both manual and machines alike. My hope is that, one day soon, someone with real clout will heed the many posts on Yelp and other platforms that are describing the same thing I am regarding this Amarillo gym that has so much more potential. By the way, I have already spoken to management and employees regarding the issues of the gym, but they don't know any more about future changes than the average member who goes to the gym. read more

I travel a lot for work and you can't best Planet fitness as they are literally everywhere in America. As far as this gym goes, it's just another PF. Nothing too big or too fancy. I enjoyed my workout, locker rooms seemed taken care of and everything looked to be in working order. The staff that works in the afternoon, always stares at you like if you're gonna steal something it makes me uncomfortable and one of the females that has red stripe on her hair or red color on her hair thinks she owns it and they judge people nonstop. This is not a judgment free zone Gym . They're always talking bad about anybody that goes up there. I travel for work. I travel a lot so use planet fitness nationwide for morning workouts and showers before starting each day. I'll start by saying the staff here is great. They seem to care and clearly do what they can to keep things clean and clientele happy. This location, however, is outdated and in serious need of a renovation. The machines and equipment are all good and fine. The floors, baseboards, trash cans all need repaired or replaced. For example there are no paper towel dispensers, only a roll on top of a bin that you have to grab and tear with both hands. Seems like a simple cheap fix. I used standup tanning booth number two and the bulbs felt extremely old and weak. Three of the bulbs were completely burnt out. The locker rooms feel extremely old and grimey and I don't think I'll be showering here because it just feels gross. Again, it's not a staff/cleaning problem. It just feels like you're stepping into a shower or using a sink that has been used by 100 people a week for 15 years. The lockers themselves especially need to be updated as I purchased a basic master combo lock from another planet fitness that doesn't even fit on the lockers. How are you going to have lockers that don't fit the most basic and commonly used combo lock that even has your name on it???? I understand this is an older location but it is getting left far behind in terms of amenities Planet Fitness please invest in your older gyms!! read more

Ok so being that I am a truck driver I go to workout all over the country, so I have seen a lot of gyms! This one is by far the nastiest I've been at yet! The workout mats looked like they haven't been wiped down in over a month. I literally saw people use the gym equipment and leave with a puddle of sweat and not wipe it down (can't blame the staff for that one though). But when I went to take a shower. It smelled like people where using the showers to take a piss. The smell damn near made me want to skip taking a shower. It looks like they have never washed the showers at all. Water scum all over the showers and all types of hair and nasty shit all over. Then the shower curtain. It looked like someone dipped it in piss and left it there for a month then hung it up. I can honestly say if you are a trucker and need to workout skip your workout day if this is your only option! I can say it sucks cause I love giving really good reviews but I will never be back to see if this is fixed. With everything that's going on in the news you would think they would take more pride in there gym. read more

Gets the job done. I've been to this gym several times now and I've had a pretty good experience here. It's average sized, has plenty of equipment and machines, never too crowded, and always pretty clean. There's tons of cardio machines, a separate area for abs and matwork, a fair amount of machines for lifting, and plenty of free weights. The only thing I wished they had were free standing barbells that were not connected to the squat racks and more squat racks since the guys are using the barbells in the racks to do their bench presses. I guess they only have connected ones since they have a rule of no grunting and no dropping weights here. read more

Been in contact with the Amarillo location along with corporate. Neither one can help me out not to mention the manager at the Amarillo location has not called me back for 2 months ,I've been trying to get a hold of him. I get the runaround every time I call and try to speak to him. all I want is for them to quit digging their dirty hands into my bank account and give me my refunds back for the last two months, hmm maybe even a call back! We just moved to Amarillo and I wanted to check out Planet Fitness! The staff was super helpful! The gym was large and a lot of cardio machines and it's a very clean place to work out. Would give no stars if possible... Signed up in the summer and was blown away by how cheap they are compared to other gyms. To be perfectly honest I was pleased with the price versus what you get ratio while I was there. The people at the front are super helpful and friendly when it comes to signing you up. But every conversation I had with them thereafter they were rude and considered me a distraction from their own lives. How dare you ask for a towel!. They had a "don't bother me, I'm busy texting" attitude. Unprofessional to say the least. What you should be warned about is that when it comes to canceling your membership they make it NEXT TO IMPOSSIBLE TO CANCEL. I moved to Seattle in September (5 months ago) and called on the drive across the country to cancel my membership. I was told that they would not "allow" me to cancel on the phone; that I must cancel in person or send a certified letter to their establishment. No email option, no phone option. I don't send snail mail, hell I really don't even receive snail mail. The only possible reason to require a certified letter is to make it VERY difficult to cancel services and thus they can charge you indefinitely unless you follow their unreasonable instructions. So here I am 5 months later, they have "stolen" $120 since September, and stil refuse to cancel my account unless I send them a letter. I hope the money they stole right out my account pales in comparison to the future business they will lose from this review from would be members that voted with their dollar. They will steal you blind. I signed up for a year contract Dec. 2018. I went for the first 2 months but had to get a second job due to family illness. I no longer had time to go, but still paid my monthly fees because I signed a contract for a year. After Dec. Of 2019, I believed my contract was completed but I got billed in Jan. and now in Feb. three times. I tried by web as they suggested with no help. I called and was given the run around. I finally got in touch with someone whom said that there is a stipulation in your contract that you have a membership still until you sign in writing to cancel. No one ever told me this. Beware of that. Then I was told to come down in person to cancel. Same day I showed up and was told computers down since the day before and there was nothing they could do. Magically that had a computer that could still check members in but it provided no other functions. Seriously? Does anyone on this planet own a computer that does only one function? seems pretty simple,everything in this place works. downfall is that dumbells only go up to 75lbs... but very clean and there isnt a stench of sweat that overwhelms the place like most gyms. This has to he the WORST Planet Fitness location I've EVER attended. After arriving to Amarillo, I pulled up website. No schedule forclasses were available. I called and inquired about classes. I mentioned there were no classes listed online. Was told they had a 30 minute circuit training @ 5p (Tuesday)and had a schedule of classes in print available @ front desk. Arrived early to check out facility. Front desk was NOT very friendly. Approximately 5:05p (had started training myself.)Only one other person was in area. I went to front desk and inquired about signing up for class. I was told "You're on your own for circuit training" that really threw me for a loop. Thankfully, I am familiar with the 30 mins circuit training classes. I feel sorry for someone, who isn't. Afterwards, I decided to use the Hydromassage chair. 5MINS is all they allocate at a time!! Such nonsense!!! You"re just beginning to relax and enjoy. This place was such a disappointment. I give HIGH KUDOS to Humble,Tx location and Geovanni.....the BEST TRAINER EVER!!! I had signed up online and had no idea that the gym was unusable during the evening, because it was so crowded, not to mention their lack of adequate exercise equipment and weights.
