I had taken quite a bit of time away from Planet Fitness and finally went back today as they offered a promotion for my teen son to get a free membership over the summer. I knew that construction there had taken quite a long time, and was eager to see how it all looked. I can honestly say they did a great job in renovating this gym. Tons of machines all over the place, with massive fans cranking that nice air to cool you down. What I also saw that looked really neat was an area dedicated to 30-minute circuits. Apparently, they monitor this as to not let people hog these machines. I will have to check that out when I'm in a time crunch. Overall, it is a solid gym to work out with a price that really makes it easy to work with. read more

I enjoy Planet Fitness. This one is relatively small compared to others but isn't too crowded if you don't go during the peak hours. Never had an issue with staff. They're always friendly and welcoming. I have found that many machines are out of service which can be a bit inconvenient if you're looking to do a specific workout. However they have a pretty good selection of options. 4 stars only because I wish this place was open 24/7 like the one I used to work out at, but overall decent place and decent price. read more

I dont think I've ever written a negative review for a place, so I'll try not to be too harsh, but this experience was just tragic. The gym itself is basic, gets the job done. a little cramped, but it's a planet fitness, so i knew what I was to expect. Where I'm at my wits end, is trying to close my gym membership. I moved away and amidst the jumble of my move, forgot to close my account. I hadnt used it in over a year since i started building a gym at home, but kept it as backup. They wont cancel over the phone or online, fine. So i gathered all the information to mail a CERTIFIED LETTER to them to close it out. Still, they wouldnt close it. I called again, at this point I've been on the phone with them three times, two of those calls were with people claiming to be management. And finally, an employee who said, you know what, I'll just cancel you over the phone. so 5 stars to him honestly. A couple weeks later however, I'm still being charged for this dang membership and when I call again, speaking with YET another manager, they are telling me "no they didnt charge me". except, yeah you did. again, the only way they will attempt to rectify this is if i bring in my bank statement in person....and again- I don't live there! why can these people not communicate via email or hell, even fax? so, one star for me because I'll probably never be rid of them until I die. And I'm not a fan of that. read more

Pull up an ICE BLOCK and workout. My family and I became members almost a year ago now, and have a few cleaning issues, broken machines and so on. This last Christmas season the temperature dropped to at or below freezing in our area. The day after Christmas after being away from the gym for a few days, we were looking forward to working out again. We entered the club early in the morning as we do and we're greeted to an employee in winter gear, heavy coat, hat, gloves, what the heck. I asked is there a problem with the heat, and he said since it has not been on for the season it would have a burning smell and possible smoke, so they can't turn it on. I happen to work in the HVAC industry and am well aware of this problem. I will explain to those who do not know about this problem. Dust collects in the heater chamber and on coils or burners depending on if gas or electric heat. When the heat is first turned on for the year, it take a few minutes to burn off the dust, causing a burning smell and possible smoke. This is short and a place even large area can be aired out with the ceiling fans running and doors open, in worst cases an exhaust fan used to pull out the smell and smoke. The gym is closed at 10:00 pm on Friday nights and open Saturday and Sunday 7-7, plenty of time to turn on heat and air out while customers are not around. I believe they were even closed on Christmas so it could have been done then, and yes I have worked lots of Christmas holidays in my lifetime. I called the location to make a complaint about the lack of heat and planning to make warm and inviting, not only for the customers, but their own employees. The lady I spoke to on the phone was not helpful or nice, I asked to speak to the club manager Paige and she said she was not available. I asked for the franchise owner name and number, and she said they would just refer me back to this location, and could not help. I asked to have a follow up call from Paige and am still waiting for that call to never come almost a month later. So fast forward to today, once again freezing temperatures and still nothing done about the heat. Not sure what it is going to take to get this club to take notice and care about the customer? I suffer from neuropathy and need to workout to help this, however with the type I have, I cannot wear heavy clothes to stay warm, or gloves, and can't grip if too cold. I really hope that this will finally get the owner and or manager to take notice. You have had plenty of time to get this right, now please do it, as I will also be reaching out to health department, governing body for ADA compliance. I should be able to workout in a place that I pay a monthly fee at and be comfortable doing so. read more

They continuously do not have heat working when there are freezing temperatures outside. I get excuse after excuse and nothing is ever done about it. Our club manager , Paige has poor customer service and absolutely does not care, They don't keep up on the cleaning supplies, they are always low or out. I'm making a report to the health department because nothing is being done through the manager. read more

I enjoy working out here, been going here for just over a year. Would give them 5 stars but the stand up tanning booths & rooms never feel too clean. I usually clean them before and after I leave, but I should have to. We need to take off our shoes to stand up and tan, but the floors and the bottom of the tanning bed are usually covered in dirt, dust, and hair. Kinda gross. If they could have someone do a quick wipe down after each use, I'd give them 5 stars. read more

I've been in and out of this gym and it is alright, the only problem with me is that I like to exercise and go and the gym isn't that big and guys are in there on their phones and worse yet that are using the barbells, the dumbbells and the bench press machine all together and we have to wait on them to finish, I complained a couple of times but it didn't do any good so I just left. the employees are scared to say anything to them. read more

If you move out of state you have to send in a letter or physically go in to cancel your membership. That's the stupidest thing I have ever heard. Mail a letter, which in our postal service could take anywhere from 1-4 WEEKS to arrive, or physically go to a gym just to tell them the same thing you said on the phone but now you have to stand there like an idiot and look some poor employee in the eyes instead of privately cursing the institution in the comfort of your own home. The only reason the system is set up like this is because they know no one wants to do either thing, so they hope you'll just give up and take the monthly charge even though it's hard enough to afford to do things you actually want to do. Find out the cancellation policy before you sign up for a gym or just buy some free weights yourself. It'll be cheaper anyway. read more

ZERO STARS. This place is pretty bad. The staff was very unhelpful for my first visit there while transferring over from Oviedo. The gym itself is very small and cramped and lacks equipment. There is not a solid men's locker room and no stalls in the bathroom. They only have one urinal and that was broken all day long while I was there. I am currently in the process of looking for other gyms and very disappointed that this one was this bad. Stay away at all costs and spend your money elsewhere read more

Planet Fitness - Gyms Near Me - Apopka, Florida

I have been coming to this planet fitness for a number of years. The old smaller version was great. The larger version is even better. The staff is always pleasant and helpful.BUT i did not give 5 stars because the tvs do not utilize closed captions. This would be a good addition because not all machines have ports for earplugs and using earplugs is not always convenient. I have asked a number of times about putting closed captions on the tvs and the answer is always the same- we are working on it. read more

The new layout, equipment and floor plan are great compared to the cramped, out-dated previous space. Construction took nearly a year (?) but it is now worth it. Many treadmills, elliptical machines. Could use more free weights, as the 3-4 racks are almost always in use. New hydro massage chairs, 30 min workout area and locker rooms are welcomed. One drawback - the crunch machines are gone. This PF is now as good/better than any of the others in the area. read more

Planet Fitness doesn't let people know that there is a $39.00 annual membership fee when advertising their promotions. They offer good signups but fail to inform the public about this fee until they arrive. You should disclose this when publicly offering deals...smh!!! read more

My husband and I just switched over from Planet Fitness Altamonte due to moving and last night was our first night working out at Planet Fitness Apopka. While it's much smaller than Altamonte, it also has less people so it seems that the machines are still in abundance. While many of the reviews stated that the staff are unfriendly and not attentive to the guests, my experience was completely opposite. The staff last night were very friendly, showed us around the gym to get comfortable and made our transfer process very easy. They also hung around the gym conversing and helping people out instead of just hanging out behind the front desk. The gym is clean, organized, and centrally located by the 429 so it's easily accessable from anywhere. Looking forward to getting back into the workout grind with Planet Fitness! :) read more

Very nice gym.New to Apopka and the staff is great .Only been here about a month and for the most part love the atmosphere.I do dislike the fact that social hour dominates the scene depending the time of day.Shut up and train already...smh It's inspiring to see the work ethic of some of the more serious people.You know those that come to workout.Which is why I prefer music in large headphones to block out the social scene.Overall I love my new gym minus the chatterbox scene. read more

Construction has been taking forever. Half the machines are gone so everyone is super close together. There is hardly anytime to workout because all the machines are taken. 1 of the 2 stair masters is broken! Kinda pointless paying for a membership when your only getting a quarter of what your paying for. Really annoying. read more

Be aware of your anniversary date if intending to resign your membership. I had not used this facility for over a year and had intended to resign. When joining I was told that my credit card would be charged at sometime during the spring. Seeing a $40.00 annual charge on my credit card statement I immediately resigned and asked for a full or partial refund as the annual charge was for 2018 which I would only had used part off. I hoped that PF would provide a refund as a good will gesture as I had not used their facility. I was told by corporate that these charges are non refundable. I guess Planet Fitness needs the $40.00 more than I do. read more

Love this gym, love the price and the hours and all the new equipment, but it would be nice to maybe have a daycare so I don't have to go at 9pm to workout, and it would be nice if they replace all the tanning beds I'm pretty sure bed 2 actually made me less Tan and the bulbs should be replaced when they go out don't know if anybody knew that there read more

This is one of my least favorite area PFs, since it is small and ALWAYS crowded. Besides that, the equipment is very new, the cost is low, the clientele is pretty nice, and the staff is helpful. read more

Okay, this may not be the biggest gym, but they have a really friendly staff and plenty of machines to accommodate someone's workout needs. They do only have one toilet in the men's room and one shower. That seems like a problem for any gym that isn't a boutique servicing only one or two clients an hour. That's the only reason they don't get a 5th star. My experience there has been great. read more

Came here a few months ago with my brother. This gym is pretty small. Most of the people here were really working out.

I will never come to this planet fitness again. They were serving pizza one night for an "open house" I was trying to run but the whole place smelled like pizza and sweat I just wanted to puke. The staff there is VERY rude. This gym is small and I always feel like somebody is breathing down my neck or watching my every move. Awful place. read more

The gym itself is small but has all the machines one would need. During peak times you may have to wait for a specific machine. When I signed up, the manager told me I could downgrade my membership if I wasn't taking advantage of all the benefits of the more expensive membership. I went to do so, and there is a new manager who will not honor that. He tells me to come in and he will give me a different deal which will cost me money to downgrade and he would put the notes in the system so anyone can help me. Of course I went there and no notes in the system. They try him several times on his cell and no reply. I'm stuck still paying the higher fee longer. read more
