I decided to check out Uncanny and was pleasantly surprised at how much I have learned from Coach Vinny in the short amount of time I have been there. He actually coaches throughout the wod and offers cues and corrections in a way that I am able to understand quickly. He is very observant of minor details which makes a world of a difference. The gym is fairly large compared to other boxes in the area. There is no A/C, which, I should deduct a star for, but since that is the classic "crossfit/warehouse" way, I wont LOL. I leave the gym drenched in sweat, sore the next day, and with better technique and direction. I am glad I checked this place out! My only recommendation would be to reduce the amount of Gator gear around the gym because its a bit nausating. Go Noles :-)

When I…read moreoriginally moved to the central florida area last year, I thoroughly researched each box mainly for validity from other reviewers, challenge of the workouts, and the knowledge of the coaches. All of the coaches here have extensive backgrounds in fitness that go well beyond the level 1 crossfit certification that's required to become a trainer. I don't want to sound like an infomercial here, but back in May I was having trouble with some of my workouts due to lower back pain, one of the coaches showed me some stretches I should start doing and since then I haven't had any problems since! I've also lost a little over 15 lbs since joining, which I attribute to eating better as well. This is just one small example, of how this box has helped me reach my goals. As with most crossfits I've visited, all the members are super friendly and supportive. And as far as challenge of workouts, I would say this gym lifts heavier than most I've visited, which I like because it pushes me out of my comfort zone. However the workouts are scaled to ANYONES fitness level, and there are still some movements I still scale to this day. I would suggest that anyone searching for a gym check out the establishment's website and to look at what a typical week or two of workouts look like at that particular crossfit. This is also another tool I used to ultimately come to my decision of picking this gym, because the workouts were varied and challenging, but not impossible. Also, the gym just underwent a huge expansion and got tons of new equipment to work with.

CFMD is a welcoming gym that works to empower, motivate, and make you an all around healthier person! I've tried my fair share of fitness studios and workouts around Orlando. For the longest time was a regular at a chain gym and focused primarily on weightlifting. I decided that I wasn't being fulfilled in my workouts and wanted to try something I had never done before; CrossFit. I was always skeptical about trying CF but reached out to see what it was all about. I had a new member consultation with Joe and was immedietly drawn to check out more. Joe walked me through his fitness journey and really hit on every point I was concerned about. He recommended started with some PT to see where I was at physically and get me comfortable with proper CF form. I felt so much better about starting CF after the training and felt like in such a short time my form and athleticism had tremendously improved. Coach Joe is amazing and really works to tailor the workouts to your needs. I took my first CF class recently and to say I'm hooked is an understatement. I am so glad to have found a gym that is so incredibly welcoming and motivating (both coaches and members). Including this "skinny-fat" girl who hasn't worked out in over two months. To say I was skeptical of Crossfit would be a gross understatement. Like you, I have made the occasional joke at my sister's expense about the cult of Crossfit. I imagined insanely fit people, or folks who were just generally over-the-top, yelling at each other while throwing weights on the ground, grunting, and pushing themselves to unhealthy places. And then I finally agreed to go to a buddy workout with my sister at her Crossfit studio. And then I ate my words. And burpeed them out again as new, and educated words. Words like "air squats" and "burpees," for that matter. The workout was posted ahead of time so we had an idea of how horrific it would be. I was prepared for the worst- the dreaded simultaneous puke/faint. Word of advice, eat a protein rich meal an hour ahead of class. I'm grateful my sister reminded me early because I have no doubt that I would have accomplished the puke/faint otherwise. Coach Joe and a woman coach (who was lovely and stayed to talk to me, but whose name escapes me) were so motivating. Coach Joe demonstrated each move we'd be doing in our long buddy sequence. What's that? You want another gross understatement? Here you go: "My big sister carried our team of two." I'm not ashamed to say that I worked at my own pace, and proud of it. The best part? Everyone in the room is doing their workout at their pace and no one is judging you. Overall, my preconceptions were wrong and I loved the warm vibes this place.

There is everything you need and more, from treadmills, stepmasters, free weights, even a Babe Cave. They have Zumba class, Matt Pilates, and boot camp, and they are all great.
